  1. Do you know if Wilbur chocolate is gluten free? Have you been to the factory in Lititz? I e-mailed them this morning to ask, but I haven't heard back from them yet. Let me know if you know anything. I'll let you know if I hear back from them.
  2. They managed to pull of a gluten free beer festival Open Original Shared Link, so it sounds like a good idea to me! I'd be there!
  3. Jersey, there's also an Outback and a Carabba's in Lancaster and both are REALLY good about their gluten-free menus. They're right off of route 30, right next to each other, so they're really easy to find. This guy also told me that the Log Cabin restaurant in Lititz did a gluten free meal for him. I just couldn't believe all the places he said he'd been...
  4. I was so excited that I forgot to mention the other places he talked about. Oops... He said that the Hong Kong Garden in Lancaster was familiar with the gluten free diet and VERY accomodating as well as the Lyndon Diner in Manheim. He said that all three places knew what celiac disease was and that they were all happy to meet his dietary needs. Wow wow wow...
  5. In the grocery store today I met another person with celiac for the very first time. Yea!!! I was so excited. The best part was that he told me that the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater in Lancaster, PA will do a gluten free meal with appropriate notice... I am so excited! I didn't call them yet, but I checked their website and it says: "What if I have special...
  6. It's going to run again April 9th.
  7. Kraft says that all vinegar they use is distilled vinegar, and therefore declared gluten free.
  8. New Grist's website says to call 414-372-8800 to find out if there's a distributor in your area. You may also be able to contact your local liquor store/beer distributor to have them order some for you.
  9. Kraft makes A-1 and they wouldn't hide gluten. The sauce should be okay. Any amount of gluten, even if it doesn't make you sick, WILL likely do damage to your body. It's very important to stick to the gluten free diet and be strict about it. There are just way too many things that could happen if you don't stick to it that could cause life-long problems...
  10. Open Original Shared Link
  11. Wellshire Kids makes a gluten free chicken nugget. They're really good! They're expensive, but sometimes convenience is worth the extra money.
  12. I really like the Annie's frozen rice mac & cheese. I think it's probably the closest thing I've had to "regular" mac & cheese. It's not too expensive either (at least not around here at grocery stores).
  13. Pillsbury's number is (800) 767-4466. They had a gluten free list, but they don't plan on updating it. You're supposed to call with specific product questions. Hope that helps.
  14. I thought you guys might find this of interest if you haven't seen it yet. Open Original Shared Link Does anyone know how to get ANY of these beers into PA legally? I'm not having much luck.
  15. I get a burning sensation in my mouth when I've been glutened that is followed by moderate swelling and sensitivity. I also tend to get mouth ulcers sometimes when I've been glutened. This is a fairly common reaction to gluten as I understand it. My guess is that you were glutened, although there were no gluten containing ingredients in the sauce. Tomato...
  16. Wow... This is really odd. I've been experiencing the same thing off and on over the past two years. I thought it was just all in my head. I know that celiac affects your night vision. Could this possibly have something to do with it? I read before that most food has some undetectable level of gluten. Could these undetectable levels of gluten maybe be affecting...
  17. Wow, ChelsE, I wish I had some advice for you. Your doctor may be able to point you in the right direction??? I just wanted to say good luck and I hope you find what you're looking for!!!
  18. Are you talking about the nuts like they sell in stadiums? Almonds, cashews, or pecans with a thin candy-like coating? If you are, the coating is GENERALLY just cinnamon, butter, and sugar. I have, however, seen these with gluten containing ingredients also. I've seen these nuts at health food type stores with ingredients clearly listed, they may be safer...
  19. I had the EXACT same reaction to the gluten free diet when I was first diagnosed. After a couple of months gluten free I completely lost it and had a major breakdown (I guess that's what it was)... Anyway, they put me on antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds and it just made things worse for me. I credit the emotional breakdown to several things including...
  20. They may not put it on their gluten-free list because of vinegar??? Just a thought... As far as soups go, Progresso is definitely the easiest to find gluten free ones. I eat lots of Progresso soups without a problem. I used to stick with the Campbells Chunky chicken brocolli and cheese, but I switched to the Progresso brand since there are so many more...

    ARCHIVED Headache

Migraines are 100% a symptom of celiac, as are headaches. If they don't clear up in a few days, you may want to talk to your md about Imitrex or one of the other medications available. My migraines got worse when I went gluten-free at first. I think your body gets more sensitive to everything when you're in the recovery process. That's just my two cents...
  22. I have a dumb question here... Why don't we work on insurance companies to get the word out about celiac. If we could somehow get them to take a look at the myriad of health problems (insurance claims) that are caused by undiagnosed celiac disease wouldn't they maybe begin pushing for celiac testing??? It seems to me that they would save a TON of money if...
  23. We were told by our allergist (my little brother's allergic to EVERYTHING) that long eyelashes are a symptom of allergies. The eyelashes grow to keep possibly harmful allergens out. He said it doesn't have to be an airborne allergy like dust or pollen for the eyelashes to be long. The body is just trying to keep the toxins out in whatever way possible. I...
  24. Thanks Mahee!!! I can't wait to check it out!
  25. Thank you Mahee35 and Lauren! Looks like I'll be making a trip to Dillsburg sometime soon. Woo-Hoo! Is this a health food store or is it strictly gluten free, like I could close my eyes, point to something, then eat it and be safe. Funny how excited I get about food now.
