    ARCHIVED Sonic Drive-in

    Thank you so much, ChelsE!!!
  2. Hey all! We just got our first Sonic and I was wondering if anyone knew if they had any gluten free menu items. I LOVE sonic and I would just die if I could have their tator tots w/ cheese. Any info would be greatly appreciated since I can't find the phone number to call.
  3. I love that this disease has brought me to understand how much my family really cares about me and to what lengths they'd go to for me. My father (who I'm not close to) made many ER runs with me so that my husband could stay home with our baby. My mother babysat A LOT while my husband was at work while I was too sick to get out of bed. I never really understood...
  4. My best-friend just told me a few weeks ago that she's been suffering from D. I also knew that there were some other issues that could be Celiac related. So, I asked her to try to convince her doctor to have her tested. After two trips to the doctor, he finally agreed to test her. Guess what?!?!?! My best-friend has Celiac too! What a small world. Anyway...
  5. I just got mine today and sat down with it for an hour just paging through. It looks like a really good resource, especially for those that are relatively new to the diet. It's written in a very upbeat, optimistic style. It even offers about 60 gluten free recipes that, for the most part, look delicious! Recipes include: Pizza pockets, cheese enchiladas,...
  6. Ev, I'm not sure why, but I hope too that they're gluten free as well. I love toffee chips!!! Mmmmmm.... Let us know what you hear back from the company. Hopefully they'll pop up on the gluten free list soon if they're safe.
  7. Manischewitz has a gluten free list and a wheat free list. The toffee crunch macaroons are NOT on the gluten free list, but they are on the wheat free list. I'm assuming they aren't gluten free. There are lots of other macaroons though that ARE on the gluten free list. I hope you didn't get sick from the toffee ones.
  8. When I did my gluten challenge prior to endoscopy, I got so sick that I couldn't even have my endo. The interesting part was that it took a month and a half for me to react to the gluten. When I did react though, it was pure torture! I was in bed for almost a week because I was so exhausted and the bathroom was my best friend. Good luck, Vincent!
  9. Thanks for posting this. I didn't know such a book existed. I ordered it today on amazon .com, so I'll let you all know what I think after I get it. I'm hoping its as good as the other for dummies books.
  10. My Cover Girl blush (wich I just threw away) had oat flour listed as an ingredient. If there isn't an ingredient label on yours, you may want to throw it away and start over again just in case. Unless of course you find out where the mystery gluten is coming from. I'm positive that mine was Cover Girl and the oat flour was clearly labeled on mine. Aleve...
  11. Hi David, I replied to your previous post months after you put it up. I'm very close to you (outside of Lititz, PA, close to Schaefferstown). Do a search for the previous post as others replied too. Stauffers of Kissel Hill in Lititz - groceries (awesome gluten free section) Oregon Dairy - groceries (gluten free section) Giant in Lititz - groceries ...
  12. ChelsE, that is a WONDERFUL idea about culinary schools!!! I love it!!! It would also give us an awesome chance to educate some of them on gluten intolerance and celiac disease. How cool!!! Maybe they would sponsor us. Berneses, I'm in too. I love organizing. I'm phone-a-phobic though so I don't like to call places if I don't have to. Ugh... I'm willing...
  13. Rusla, yup, you're right... It is god awful expensive in New York, but I found lots of 2 and 3 star hotels for under $75 a night. That's not too bad... Didn't Trump file bankrupcy or something? I'm hoping that the U of M will bite since they have such a good research center. I really think it would be neat to have the first one there. I imagine that...
  14. Just a thought... If the University of Maryland isn't interested, it may be easiest to do it in New York City. There are a ton of gluten free restaurants in NYC, it's culturally rich, it's very easy to get from place to place without owning (or in our case, bringing) a car, and there are TONS of hotels, convention centers, etc... Wow, Rusla, that's awesome...
  15. I totally agree that we should have it at a different place every year. That would be so cool to get to travel around the continent with my fellow celiacs. That would also be something really cool to look forward to every year. I just had another idea... Maybe we could get the celiac bears to make an appearance for the kids??? I don't know how far out...
  16. Maybe we should think about (at least the first year) only doing a 1-day convention. Then, for those of you who have never been in the area, we could do a sightseeing thing on Sunday... That could be really cool. A 2-day thing may be a little hard to plan with only a year's planning... I know it sounds so far away, but there's SO much to do. What do you guys...
  17. Okay, on mapquest I found... Open Original Shared Link It looks like it's pretty close to Washington DC for those of you that like to sightsee... It's not close to Baltimore though. However, I would imagine that there are plenty of hotels and what not in the town since it is a college town AND it's right by DC...
  18. I have 4 other websites and it would only cost me like $2.99 additional for another domain name... I can do the website no problem... Rusla, great idea on a casual meet and great on Friday night. I like that. Since most of us have never met, it would be really cool to get to meet with our online friends before the big day. And for those that can't make...
  19. Rusla, I totally agree with you on all counts... I can create a website if I have some help with content. I think we need to gather up some more information first, but a website is VERY doable. I could probably get one together within a week or two of having all the information. I would be happy to pay for the web hosting also (just don't tell my husband...
  20. Oh my gosh, I would love to meet Radman! As well as the rest of you... You've become my dearest family over the past few months and I know that no one will ever understand what I go through every day like you guys do. That's why I proposed the gluten free group hug, because you all are my big, caring, sensitive, loving, gluten free family. My dad said...
  21. For t-shirts we can hit up LOCAL screenprinting joints.... I MAY (big may) be able to get my family do donate vinyl stickers. I'm thinking we should probably do goodie bags for all participants in any contests, maybe even for all attendees if we can get enough sponsorship. We can probably get a local embroidery shop to do sweatshirts for us for little or...
  22. Judy, if we have to fly, we can always fly together so it won't be so nervewracking. I haven't been on a plane since 10th grade in high school, I'm not into the flying idea unless I have to. I'd be probably going out of the Philly or Baltimore airport though if I had to fly. We could just try to get everyone from the area on the same plane so it's not so...
  23. I think having it at the U of M would be a really good idea with their celiac research center. That would probably be a great place to kick off an annual thing. Plus, they would maybe help with funding??? We could have it at a different hospital/research center every year until it got too big and we had to rent a convention center for it. Does anybody...
  24. Yes please, Vincent... If I can't have the real thing here, at least I could drool over the ingredients of your box... I actually would like to see it so I know what I"m looking for next time because the box I saw that said 75% less sugar had wheat starch listed as one of the ingredients way down at the bottom.
  25. Nope, this was one of the new boxes. I confirmed that on the phone. I assumed that it meant corn flour, but the lady argued with me. I imagine they're probably safe, but she certainly didn't say so. The old Trix used to have wheat starch listed as an ingredient, not wheat flour. This box DID NOT have wheat starch listed on the ingredients, just "corn (whole...
