  1. Carla, thanks. It's a misprint which way? The gluten free is wrong or the wheat is wrong. I'm assuming that it's safe, but I just wanted to check before diving into it the next time.
  2. I get the Amy's pizza at my local mom n pop grocery store. I think I normally pay about $6.29 for it. It's well worth it though. Convenience with a gluten free diet is not always easy. For me it's worth the extra few bucks. Anyway, I totally love the pizza. It's my absolute favorite (though it did take a while to get used to). Now I think I'd stick with that...
  3. I usually use a gluten free spray on my pans to keep things from sticking. I haven't had a problem with it yet. I have had a problem with butter though. It seems that the gluten free grains absorb the butter much more rapidly than they do cooking oil. That's just my own personal experience though. Maybe someone else will have a better idea.
  4. Hey Lister, has your doctor mentioned candida at all? Aside from the parasites (which could be causing some of your symptoms, candida could also cause most of those same symptoms. It can also present itself as gluten intolerance. I'm only suggesting this since you had said earlier in the week that you tested negative for celiac. It might be worth while looking...
  5. Wow... These are one of my favorite snacks! I just pulled mine out of the freezer and mine says contains wheat also. Ugh... I've been eating them for months though without a problem. Let us know what you find out please.
  6. Woah... I thought regular TUMS were safe? Anyone know for sure?
  7. I'd like to know also. I'm a perfume junkie.
  8. That's about the cutest thing I've ever heard! What a little sweetheart.
  9. That being said though, you may end up needing the actual doctor's diagnosis for school issues when she's of age. I know some parents have had a hard time with teachers being appropriately cautious w/o a doctor's note. Your doctor may be willing to give her a diagnosis of gluten intolerant w/ just the positive dietary response. You'll want to discuss this...
  10. At ten months it is entirely possible that the test results were wrong. My pediatrician wouldn't even test my daughter until she was eating solid foods for a full year. You could always get the gene test to make sure that your daughter carries the Celiac genes and use that as your temporary diagnosis until she's old enough to eat enough gluten to cause a...
  11. When i first went gluten free I gained 40 lbs. within the first year. Don't worry, I was grossly underweight. I know that seems like a lot of weight, but it really was needed for me. Well, most of it was needed. Now I pretty much just look normal. Chances are that your weight will level out on its own. I would suggest that you make an appointment with your...
  12. The Energe gluten free pretzels are definitely gluten free AND delicious. I believe that they're even made in a dedicated factory to eliminate CC chances. The Envirokidz bars are safe. I used to eat them all the time w/o a problem. You can generally trust things if they're labeled as gluten free. I usually still read the ingredients, just to make sure...
  13. Welcome! Don't forget to eliminate possible sources of cross-contamination like your body/beauty products, soaps, etc. Also, don't use your old toaster, that's a HUGE risk for CC. It only takes a crumb to make you sick, literally. Good luck! Glad to hear you're starting to feel better already.
  14. You might want to try the Incredible Edible Gluten Free Food for Kids cookbook by Sheri L. Sanderson. It has some amazing recipes like cookies, cakes, pies, breads, etc... It has a replacement for virtually everything you'll miss while on the gluten free diet, even pizza. It also has gluten-free/CF adjustments for casein intolerant people.
  15. It's in the title... It's from the Incredible Edible Gluten Free Food for Kids cookbook.
  16. Okay, for those of you who use this cookbook, did anyone have success with the white bread recipe? I've tried lots of other recipes from the book and they all turned out great. This one, I could NOT get it to cook! The outside of the bread is nice and browned, but the inside is very doughy. I followed the recipe exactly. Did anyone else have this problem...

    ARCHIVED Doctor?

Go to www.enterolab.com. The tests are a little more expensive as you have to pay out of pocket, but they boast that they're accurate even when you're gluten free.

    ARCHIVED Doctor?

If you feel better on the gluten-free diet, then there's your diagnosis. Tests are faulty and often give false negatives. Why go through the gluten challenge if you don't have to?
  19. I was on Wellbutrin shortly after being diagnosed w/ Celiac. I ended up having to call the manufacturer and they gave me a CYA statement about not adding any gluten to the product, but it was not tested. I would say, based on their response, that it is gluten free. I never had any problems with it. My doctor and pharmacist both agreed with me that, based...
  20. My daughter is 26 months old and we suspect that she has Celiac Disease, though her pediatrician does not agree. I wanted to do the Enterolab testing on her, but I can't find any information regarding age limitations. Does anyone know how old you need to be to have an accurate test result from them? I REALLY don't want to call the company to ask if I don...
  21. Barney's Greatest Hits, Barney's Outdoor Adventure, Bananas In Pajamas, Philadephia Chickens... Oh the things we do for our children...
  22. There are no white chocolate m&m's listed on the M&M website. There are however mint M&M's. Maybe this is what he meant???
  23. Very well said, Tiffany!
  24. I'm hoping this doesn't put a damper on your day. Was your toaster ever used for wheat bread? If so, it is NOT safe to use for your gluten free stuff anymore unless you're using toaster bags and even then there's a risk of CC.
  25. You could do an elimination diet, but that could skew future test results. Your doctor absolutely should not fault you for trying to take a hand in your own health care. I would absolutely get tested. If you don't want to do it through the doctor, you could always test privately with Enterolab. It's out of pocket, but then your doctor and your insurance company...
