  1. Woo-Hoo! I was so excited to see this! It's on page 58 and it's entitled "Weight Worries".
  2. My acne disappeared to after going gluten free. Acne can be a result of malnutrition I believe.
  3. This banana bread recipe is AWESOME!!! For best results, use small loaf pans. Larger loaf pans allow it to burn on the sides while being undercooked in the middle.
  4. Do you have any xantham gum? If so, I have a recipe you could try, but you need xantham gum and a few other "rare" ingredients for it: xantham gum, white rice flour, tapioca flour, potato starch flour, buttermilk powder. Those are the only uncommon ones needed. If you have those, PM me and I'll send you the recipe.
  5. I got this A LOT when I was first getting sick with celiac (well, classical symptom sick anyway). It started about three weeks after my daughter was born and continued until I was so sick that I couldn't get out of bed. At that point it went away temporarily. I thought that it was just my uterus still having contractions as it felt exactly like end-stage...
  6. That sounds like sleep apnea which can cause a whole host of other health problems. You should definitely mention this to your doctor and push him to pursue sleep studies.
  7. The Incredible Edible Gluten Free Food for Kids cookbook is amazing. It's by Sheri L. Sanderson. Here's amazon's link to the book: Open Original Shared Link
  8. Absolutely, accidental glutenings, whether they are paired with symptoms or not, WILL cause damage. We used to have gluten food and gluten free food. I am the only Celiac thus far. We ended up going completely gluten free as a household because I kept getting glutened from somewhere and we couldn't figure it out. I guess my obsessive cleanliness just wasn...
  9. Oh yeah, i forgot to include brown sugar in that... Oops...
  10. tapioca flour, rice flour, potato starch flour, and shortening.

ARCHIVED I Am Done With Dr's

Lorraine, good for you! Tests aren't full proof. It's likely that your 2nd doctor didn't do enough biopsies to catch any villous atrophy. Just because you had a negative biopsy does NOT mean that you don't have Celiac disease. Also, even if your bloodwork comes back negative, that still doesn't mean that you don't have Celiac. Most on this board will say...
  12. The Honey Graham recipe from the Incredible Edible cookbook is really good! They are fabulous cookies and they have a nice golden brown color.
  13. Are you talking about Glutenzyme? It artificially digests the gluten in foods. It is NOT recommended for use by celiacs because it is impossible for all the gluten to be artificially digested before causing damage to your intestines. I'm not a doctor, of course, but I would highly recommend that you don't try this pill if you have Celiac disease. However...
  14. Wow... I can't believe they're changing the Neocate formula. That stuff was a GODSEND for us with our daughter!!! She had bloody stools with every other formula we tried. Before the old formula is completely obsolete, I would recommend checking eBay for cans of the old formulation. We bought our daughters formula on eBay for quite a few months before our...

  16. That is too funny! But hey, I'm all for "bread-free" zones!!!
  17. Amen to that, Mango!!! If that's what it takes to make my family/friends/restaurants extra careful to keep from contaminating me, then that's what it takes.
  18. Good luck Coleen! Be careful with diet pills. Some list wheat grass as an ingredient and, though it is technically considered gluten free, it is a BIG no no for me and most other celiacs. I'm sorry I don't have any more information on gluten free diet pills. I take One A Day Weight Smart vitamins. They're supposed to help you lose weight, but they're not...
  19. Chrissy, any news on her condition? We're all thinking about you and your family.
  20. Check out this link for info on DH: https://www.celiac.com/st_main.html?p_catid=10
  21. Does it look like DH? It could just be a slight skin allergy to a new beauty product that you're using. My husband gets little red dots from certain body washes. Providing that you don't have any complications from years of undiagnosed Celiac and providing that you are very strictly gluten free and your intestines are showing improvement from such diet...
  22. That is so great that you've gotten the chance to educate a few people about Celiac disease as a result of this show. It may have been an extreme situation portrayed on the show, but if it gets people asking questions, then I'm thankful that it was aired as such. Maybe this will help to show people that celiac isn't just a gastro disorder. Hell, maybe even...
  23. Hey guys, not to cause a stir-up, but the people over on the House message board are saying that the psychosis was just PPP, post partum psychosis... I think they're beginning to forget that Celiac was even mentioned.
  24. Thanks Karen. I saw your post. I'm so glad to see that we, as a group, are able to reach out to the viewers of House and educate them on the REALITY of celiac disease. Thanks so much for taking the time to help out. Everyone else, this is a HUGE opportunity for us!!! This is an awesome chance for us to talk about Celiac to the mainstream community! THEY made...
  25. Exactly, so EVERYONE, please come back me up!!! This is our BIG chance to get the word out to LOTS AND LOTS of people! Come talk about celiac. Educate about Celiac! This is our BIG mainstream chance to get the word out!
