ARCHIVED New Dora The Explorer Cereal
Guhlia replied to e&j0304's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
dont' forget about fruity pebbles... -
I'm thinking that the third egg would probably negate the need for cheese, but I could be wrong. Try it. The worst that would happen is you'd waste a few cups of rice and a few eggs. It's not labor intensive, so it wouldn't be a huge waste of time. If it doesn't work without cheese, is there another binder that might help it along? I'm sure it would be possible...

It's really helped my anxiety and OCD issues as well. I still suffer from both, but both are definitely lessened when I remain strictly gluten free and both definitely return when I get accidentally glutened.

ARCHIVED Man This D Is Getting Old....
Guhlia replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Jerry, you still have time to get the test before you leave. You won't have the results back until after the trip so you won't have to worry about the diet on the trip. Then you could start your gluten free diet (if required) as soon as you get back home. The sooner you go gluten free (if you have celiac) the better the chance of less damage. Have fun on... -
It doesn't puree it... However, a blender might work??? I'm not sure, but it seems to me that it should. If anyone tries this, let me know if a blender works. You may have to shake down the sides frequently to ensure that it all gets pureed.

Mixing by hand will work, but it creates an odd texture. The pizza comes out looking like a rice patty, not a pizza. It tastes good though. The crust may get overly crispy though. I used my magic bullet to puree the rice, cheese, and egg mixture. It's not a food processor, but it works kind of the same way. It was fabulous!!!

I baked mine at 450 for 20 minutes before topping. Then 15 minutes after topping. It was still a little too soft in the middle, but absolutely delicious. This might work better in personal sized pizzas. Fiddle-Faddle... Thank you so much for this great recipe!!! It tastes closer to the real thing than most other things I've tried and it's so easy!!! I...

ARCHIVED I'm New And Have A Few Questions
Guhlia replied to tiggerlover's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Tiggerlover, I live in Lititz, PA (about 20 minutes north of Lancaster). If you live anywhere close to this I can give you grocery stores in our area that have gluten free sections. -
Okay, I don't remember who posted the rice crust pizza recipe that I use, but it was 3 cups of cooked rice, 1 cup of cheddar cheese, and 2 eggs. I put the ingredients all in my food processor to grind them and then baked it and it looks just like regular pizza!!! I was so excited!!! So, for those of you who don't like the texture of the rice crust pizzas...

I think woodchuck's about 160 calories per bottle. Ugh... -
ARCHIVED Family's Secret Fried Chicken Recipe
Guhlia replied to msserena's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This is also great if you dip in egg, then potato, then egg again, the potato again. This makes it extra crispy. Minced onions are a nice addition to it as well. -
ARCHIVED Kraft Rules!
Guhlia replied to Girl Ninja's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've never seen the orange shaker of cheese that was on that website. The one I get is a very slim canister. It's blue and looks just like the Kraft Mac & Cheese boxes. It's the same cheese that comes in the pouches in the mac & cheese. It tastes great with Tinkyada pasta. At Wal-Mart, we find this cheese in the same area as Velveeta. It's hard to... -
ARCHIVED Kraft Rules!
Guhlia replied to Girl Ninja's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you have a Wal-mart in your area, they carry it there. I haven't found a Walmart yet that doesn't stock it. It's very hard to find it in the store though. -
ARCHIVED Ored La Frys
Guhlia replied to Lister's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I do Ore Ida without any problems also. If you're afraid to try them now, save them until you're feeling better. They're so good!!! -
ARCHIVED Dorritoes
Guhlia replied to Lister's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think most of the Doritos are safe. The nacho cheese one is not. The black pepper jack ones are my favorite. They taste great with Velveeta cheese dip. Yum. I use Crest toothpaste and have never had a problem. It may be worth switching just to be safe. I like the cinnamon crest. -
I'm looking at KitchenAid mixers. I was wondering if they would have gluten residue leftover that would fall into my food. I would love to save a couple hundred bucks, but not if it's going to make me sick doing it.

ARCHIVED Looking For Explanation For Unexplained
Guhlia replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm not sure how big of a difference there actually is between canker sores and ulcers. I always thought they were kind of the same thing. I'm sure it would, but you'd have to ask your doctor. It works really well. It tastes horrible though, so if he prescribes you something, make sure it doesn't touch your tongue until it dries. Eck... I made that mistake... -
ARCHIVED Looking For Explanation For Unexplained
Guhlia replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Is Orajel gluten free? If so, that may give you temporary relief. I have a prescription from my doctor for some barrier steroid cream. I get ulcers all the time when I get glutened. It's miserable!!! -
ARCHIVED Betty Crocker?
Guhlia replied to angielackner's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
General Mills (Betty Crocker's parent company) supposedly labels accurately. Please wait for a second opinion on this though before just blindly trusting mine. I'm just speaking from past interactions with their customer service. -
ARCHIVED Crisco

ARCHIVED gluten-free Cheddar Fish Crackers?
Guhlia replied to SofiEmiMom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That's a tough one. The closest I've come in flavor is cheddar flavor rice crackers. They're no where close to the right consistency though. You may want to try using glutano crackers that resemble ritz and making a cream cheese/cheddar dip for them. I think that may be as close as we can get. Hopefully someone else will have a better response for you. -
I'm looking at buying an expensive mixer. I'm assuming that buying refurbished wouldn't be a good idea, but I wanted to get everyone's opinion before I spent a ton of money.

ARCHIVED Brands Of gluten-free Bacon
Guhlia replied to terps19's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yeah, Oscar Meyer... That's who I meant... -
Absolutely, they should ALWAYS wash the pan or use a fresh, clean pan. That server sounds totally irresponsible. I'm glad you haven't gotten sick. I'm afraid I'd be scared to go back after something like that. I would definitely call the restaurant and speak to the manager. Even if you never go back, it may save some other poor sap from getting horribly sick...
