ARCHIVED I Cant Stand Up
Guhlia replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I wouldn't trust the fountain sodas if they wipe them with the same cloth that they wipe the counter with. My best suggestion, if you really want to drink the soda at work, is to take the nozzles off and clean them thoroughly before drinking out of them. The actual soda is gluten free, there's just a risk of cross contamination. I get the same thing with... -
ARCHIVED Insurance
Guhlia replied to Gentleheart's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Also, be careful if you're planning on doing an endoscopy without insurance coverage. It will still go on your medical record. So, if you ever need to get new insurance, it will still be there on your record if they decide to dig deeper. -
ARCHIVED Losing My Mind With These Doctors
Guhlia replied to chgomom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
THEY are... If you feel better on a gluten free diet, stay gluten free. -
ARCHIVED Cymbalta Gf?
Guhlia replied to urjenna's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes, Cymbalta is gluten free. My doc put me on that to try to help with fibro pains. Please use this drug with caution as it had psychotic effects in me. I read up on the drug AFTER I stopped taking it and was shocked at what it does to people. Please, please, please be careful. -
ARCHIVED Where Do You Buy Your gluten-free Flours Online?
Guhlia replied to emcmaster's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
For flours, the cheapest place I've found is www.kinnikinnick.com. -
ARCHIVED Please Dont Be Potatoes
Guhlia replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hey! Panda bear! We don't take kindly to your types in here! Just kiddin', Lister. I hope it's not nightshades too, but at least then you'd have some answers, right? -
ARCHIVED My Psychologist Is Interested In Celiac Connection
Guhlia replied to Nantzie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was actually diagnosed with severe depression, borderline anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety disorder, and attention defecit disorder. After a year on the gluten free diet, I have virtually no symptoms of ANY of these disorders, though I do suspect that I may have Asperger's syndrome, but that's a different story completely, and certainly... -
ARCHIVED How To Recognize If Child Has Been Glutened?
Guhlia replied to Tori's Dad's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I believe there was a topic a while ago that said that paints MAY contain gluten, but I don't remember exactly. -
ARCHIVED How To Recognize If Child Has Been Glutened?
Guhlia replied to Tori's Dad's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You may want to check to ensure that all her personal care products are gluten free. Also, you didn't mention her age, but here are a few suggestions if she's younger. Has she played with Play-Doh (it's made w/ flour) or any art supply that could contain gluten? Could she have mistaken something glutenous for one of her gluten free things? She may just be... -
ARCHIVED Help, Please. Cooking For A Celiac Relative
Guhlia replied to lavenderhoney's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Be careful if you're planning on grilling food. There was a post a while back about charcoal not being gluten free. Also, if you use a grill that has had gluten-filled food on it, then you will need to use aluminum foil under her food to keep it from touching the grill. -
Thanks guys. The heat worked very well, but Vicodin ended up being my life saver. I never had an ear infection that lasted this long! Ugh... Thanks so much!
-
Okay, I'm on antibiotics, both oral and ear drops. I perforated my ear drum. I'm in a fair amount of pain. What can I do to help until it starts to help itself? I'm going nuts here.

Make sure if you get Swanson chicken broth that you DO NOT get the organic one. It's NOT gluten free. The regular chicken broth is gluten free.

ARCHIVED I Need Some Advice...
Guhlia replied to Guhlia's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Unfortunately my father has since decided that he doesn't have the time or money to get tested. He and my mom split up a while ago and he's facing a change in insurance and doesn't want to have yet another pre-existing condition. We aren't close, so I haven't bothered pushing the issue. I suggested doing the Enterolab tests, but he quickly shot me down. It... -
ARCHIVED How To Handle The Ups And Downs?
Guhlia replied to Stacie H.'s topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If you don't have a good food store close by to buy your gluten free goodies at, using an online mail-order type store might benefit you greatly. We use www.shopbydiet.com and absolutely love them. It's a little more expensive then it would be going to the grocery store, but convenience is worth it sometimes. It would likely help you get over the hump of... -
Thanks everyone for your concern. My fever finally broke late this morning. What a long day yesterday was though. I went from 102.5 to 103.8 throughout the course of the day. I was starting to get a little worried. Nothing brought the fever down. Thankfully, I'm back to normal today (temperature wise). Thanks again.

Hi all. I came down with a nasty bug today and my fever has spiked at 103F. I have Dayquill in my medicine cabinet. Is that an effective fever reducer? If not, any suggestions? I'm hoping my dh will run out for medicine tomorrow if need be. Thanks.

ARCHIVED Whatchamacallits
Guhlia replied to Lauren M's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
These are the ingredients as I could find them online. I don't know if this is the most recent formulation. Milk Chocolate , Sugar , Nonfat Milk , Cocoa Butter , Chocolate , Lactose , Milk Fat , Soy Lecithin , PGPR As Emulsifiers , Vanillin An Artificial Flavor , High Fructose Corn Syrup , Crisp Rice , Sugar , Vegetable Oil ... -
ARCHIVED Trail Mix And Granola Bars
Guhlia replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Oats are generally not considered to be gluten free. I would stay as far away as possible. Even though they aren't giving you the major symptoms that you're accustomed to, they are likely still causing significant damage to your body. In order to be gluten free you need to avoid wheat, barley, rye, and oats. Congratulations on the "poopy". -
Many restaurants will let you bring your own dressing to put on salads. Outback has many dressings that are gluten free.

Mine are WAY worse. I get horrible migraines for almost a week before it. I get uncontrollably angry. It makes me feel like I'm getting the flu, but I know I'm not. If you find anything that helps, please let me know because I'm ridiculously sick of losing a whole week every month.

ARCHIVED Energy Drinks
Guhlia replied to dionnek's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yeah, I'd also like to hear about other gluten free energy drinks. Red Bull is so expensive. So many of the other energy drinks are much cheaper. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Noodles
Guhlia replied to ElizabethN's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I do not have a recipe, but please keep in mind that your pasta machine will NOT be gluten free and most people agree that you absolutely can't clean it well enough to use for gluten free pasta. -
