  1. That's exactly what I did when I made these!!! Next time I think I will use even more chocolate. You can't have enough chocolate
  2. Just wondering if anyone else is from San Diego. Considering that we have so much gluten-free food available at Jimbos, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Henrys etc. and even a website - www.glutenfreeinsd.com - I'm thinking you all must be out there somewhere
  3. HI! I was thinking of starting a thread to look for other San Diegans on here. It's good to know there's atleast one other person from sd Kalynn - Good luck w/ the testing. Hope you find answers you're looking for. I've ordered the gene test from Enterolab myself and am still waiting for the results.
  4. They say if you use Enterolab testing there's no need to reintroduce gluten into you diet www.enterolab.com
  5. Wow thanks! I'll look for those (and I'll try not to be too sad if I can't find them )
  6. It looks like you have your answer already. If you notice positive results when you eliminate gluten from your diet, you should not eat gluten (and I gaurantee you nobody here thinks your crazy when you say gluten tears up your stomach for a while ) I believe Enterolab is an option though if you really feel the need for some sort of test result, but you...
  7. gluten-free french rolls???? I've never seen those at TJ's. What brand are they?
  8. Mary's Gone Crackers are my favorite so far - but they do involve rice
  9. I agree that Hershey's is not blatantly doing anything wrong. However, the statement is poorly worded and clearly confusing since even we all have very conflicting opinions about it. Such statments might suggest to newly diagnosed or misinformed Celiacs that it is okay to intentionally ingest small amounts of gluten. We all probably agree that is not the...
  10. Oops sorry, I just looked again and it appears to be out of stock for the time being.
  11. I just discovered that you can order Ramapo Valley through the BevMo website: Open Original Shared Link If anyone's looking for an additional place to buy beer
  12. Sweedish/German/Polish/Irish
  13. I looked up the ingredients b/c I was curious...and I know everyone's different - but for me, soy protein isolate, whey protein isolate (dairy), artificial flavors and Splenda are all things that make me feel sick, regardless of whether or not gluten is involved. (Sorry I can't help more). Have you tried Clif Nectar Bars? They satisfy the chocolate craving...
  14. LOL. I explained this site to a friend the other day and that was her exact response - "weird."
  15. I don't have a recipe from scratch but this mix is really good: Open Original Shared Link
  16. You might be a Celiac if you pay $11 for a six-pack of beer, even though it might explode in your fridge before you get a chance to drink it. You might be a Celiac if, EVERY time to see the letters "G.F.", in any context whatsoever (even one that does not relate to food or gluten at all in any way) you get all excited and think those letters mean "gluten...
  17. I eat the savory thins with no problems (but have never called to confirm the product's gluten-free status). I think it's been a while since TJ's has updated their gluten-free list.
  18. Yep I used rice milk. It worked really well
  19. Well I made these last night and they are so good! (and I'm usually really bad at baking). The texture is really light and fluffy (I used the white rice flour). I just ate two for breakfast . Will definitely make them again
  20. I get dizzy when I eat gluten as well. I think remaining gluten-free for a month is a really good idea. It's only a month...and it might entirely change your life. You might not even want to eat gluten again after doing so, depending on how much better you might feel....and unless your intending on getting a biopsy, you already had the blood test, so there...
  21. I keep seeing this thread and it's making me hungry....so I am going to have to make these soon! What do the expert bakers recommend??? Should I use just rice flour or a mix of different types of flours?
  22. I don't eat bread often, but when I do I stick to Kinnikinnik, Chebe (I just leave out the cheese), Food For Life (it's kind of edible toasted) and I really like some of the Cause Your Special mixes. I substitute 365 Organic Rice Milk for milk and Earth Balance for butter when I bake with those mixes (or when I bake or cook anything for that matter). ...
  23. Yes, dairy causes those exact types of problems for me. It could be a casein problem in addition to lactose. There is often casein in rice cheese as well (which I will never understand). I have a very severe dairy intolerance, but since its an intolerance and not an allergy I never tested positive when I got the skin prick test. Hope you feel better.
  24. Have you ever seen this? - Guidelines to Eating gluten-free at Disneyland Open Original Shared Link It says some of the places there carry Kinnikinnik bread. Crazy!
  25. I highly recommend this book (although it does not encourage the use of diet pills and deals with much more than just dieting) Open Original Shared Link It's easy to read and I found the information to be very beneficial. The author, Paul Chek, also happens to be an advocate of the gluten-free diet.
