  1. If I can actually feel it when I get it do you think it's something else? It doesn't hurt - it just feels kinda icky - for lack of a better explanation. I always know when it's there even before I look in the mirror.
  2. I always thought I was intolerant to both. I haven't experimented much with dairy since eliminating gluten from my diet though, so I'm not sure anymore. I can seem to tolerate raw goat cheese, but that's about it so far. I did try rice cheese with casein but that definitely gave me a reaction.
  3. I love Go Raw granola bars, and all of the Go Raw products. They are ridiculously expensive, but really worth it once in a while. I'm able to buy these at my local vegan market (a great place that sells all vegan food and lots of gluten-free stuff) - but I think you can order them online as well. They are great.
  4. That's when mine started too. It started last October when I had a really nasty cold, and now it seems to be triggered randomly by certain foods.
  5. I get this too. I was going to post a thread asking about it. So far I notice that tomatoes, citrus and foods with yeast trigger it for me. I ate some celery earlier today and that for some reason made it feel much better. Propolis losenges make it feel better as well.
  6. I love Ians Chicken Nuggets. I find you have to dip them in something, even if it's just ketchup - and that makes them much better.
  7. I don't ever intentionally cheat, but I feel extremely guilty every time I eat out - even if it's a place with a gluten-free menu and an extremely helpful server and chef. I think it's becuase 99% of the time restaurant food makes me sick. I wish there were a way to never ever have to eat out again (Well I suppose there is a way but that would be pretty...
  8. That's so true! If you spend a little bit more on higher quality food now, it will pay off big time for you in the long run.
  9. Hmmm it looks like they keep changing it. It's strange on that allergen form - one version of carnitas has wheat and the other doesn't. I do absolutely love the health mex chicken tacos. Yum. Rubio's is the one food I am genuinely sad about having to give up. Maybe if you go in when it's not busy they'd be willing to clean the grills and such. That...
  10. I loooove Rubio's and I miss it so much! There is wheat in all of their marinades and they don't have any dedicated fryers or grills. I used to eat there on a regular basis and it made me very sick every time. Here's some more info on them you might want to read before you eat there: Open Original Shared Link It was very sad for me to give up...
  11. Hi - I live in San Diego and I work in La Jolla. You won't have any problems. Like others have said, there's Whole Foods, Henrys, Trader Joes - and there's also a great place called Jimbos not too far away. There are health food stores everywhere. The Whole Foods has a massive salad bar and a taco/burrito (bowl) bar (I've never gotten sick from either...
  12. I love Mary's Gone Crackers! The herb flavor is my favorite. Original is good too. Dipped in hummus - even better.
  13. That's awesome. I went to something similiar last weekend. A cake decorating store held a gluten-free baking class in San Diego. We didn't actually bake anything, but they gave out all sorts of info on how to bake gluten-free and I walked away with lots of FREE Kinnickinnick mixes!
  14. I've used Barbara's. They're pretty good, and listed as gluten-free on thier website
  15. Too bad we all can't compare our versions of the pb bananna muffins. Those are the best
  16. It sounds like good stuff. I think I'll order some.
  17. Hi Everyone - I was thinking about ordering some shampoo and such from the gluten-free Savonnerie. Has anyone used their products? If so, would you recommend them? I've been using California Baby, which I really like, but I also really like trying new stuff ...I don't want to order it though if it's not all that great...
  18. I use Elicina. Open Original Shared Link It works wonders for scars and acne. Once you get past the weirdness of what it is (chilean snail extract) it really is amazing. I had massive purple scars from cystic acne that are now barely noticible, thanks to the snails I should admitt that I have never officially confirmed that it is gluten...
  19. YAY! I thought I was the only person on Earth who actually likes chReese!!! It's good huh? I make it with rice milk (I add about twice as much as it says to use) and Earth Balance and it is awesome
  20. LOL - true!
  21. Hey nini you might be on to something. lol. I think we often underestimate the power of Mother Nature and the extent to which she should not be messed with
  22. Okay the subtitle was not meant to be taken that literally (although I can think of better things to spend the money on) Interesting points though....
  23. I had a reaction to Bob's Red Mill hot cereal once. I thought it was the corn I was reacting to, but I'm not sure.
  24. I thought this was interesting... UC Davis gets a piece of $5M USDA wheat grant A national effort by wheat breeders and plant scientists, led by a researcher at University of California Davis, has been awarded $5 million by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to use genetic techniques to grow better grain. The grant was awarded to implement a technology...
  25. Before going gluten-free, I could never walk or run for more than a few minutes without getting extremely itchy unbearable pain in my legs. Now I can power walk for miles with no problems.
