  1. What's wrong w/ the Whole Food's deli? (just curious)
  2. you might want to check out www.glutenfreedrugs.com
  3. Is it called Ezekial? If so, I don't believe it's actually safe, but I don't know much about it.
  4. Cause Your Special is definitely one of my favorites. I just order it from their website: Open Original Shared Link I also like all the mixes by Arrowhead Mills
  5. The snickerdoodle cookies are awesome. I thought the chewy chocolate chip were okay but not great. I absolutely did not like the granola, but I know many people here do... I think that's all I've tried.
  6. When I eat too much soy, it feels like someone has their hands around my neck choking me (yeah it's weird). My throat closes up. My skin also breaks out (acne) and gets really itchy. I also get all the gas and cramping and stomach pains everyone else is talking about.
  7. Splenda is gluten-free. I am a member of the crowd Vincent refers to, but I will keep further commentary to myself.
  8. Sorry you're having a hard time. It sounds like you had a pretty strong reaction too. Dairy is like gluten in some ways, especially casein. Just because you don't react to it every time, doesn't mean you are not intolerant. Have you ever tried eliminating dairy from you diet entirely? Maybe you should try doing so for a couple months, and then slowly...
  9. Yes, there is a BIG difference between organic milk and conventional milk. If you think one bothers you and the other doesn't you could quite possibly be correct.
  10. When I travel I bring almonds, apples, bananas, peanut butter (it helps if you can bring a cooler), trail mix, rice cakes or corn thins, Clif Nectar bars, Alpsnak bars, Organic Food Bars and my own little packs of Annies salad dressings.
  11. Whole Foods near me sells gluten-free gift baskets. If you google "gluten-free gift baskets" a few other options come up too.
  12. So...let's start a new thread for all the people who are sad they can no longer eat McDonald's fries. In addition to the poisonous gluten in those things, they contain so many other dangerous ingredients. We are all better off without them anyway. My favorite gluten-free fries are made by Alexia Foods. The Olive Oil, Sun Dried Tomato, Pesto flavor...
  13. Here's what happened when McD's was sued for failing to disclose that their fries contained beef: "McDonald's Corp. has agreed to donate $10 million to Hindu and other groups to settle lawsuits filed against the chain for mislabeling french fries and hash browns as vegetarian." "McDonald's says it has created a Dietary Practice/Vegetarian Advisory Panel...
  14. What is the deal with this magical de-glutinizing deep fryer they have????? I'm confused.
  15. Fabe's Macaroons are really good too.
  16. The best gluten-free pasta- Tinkyada. Breads - I like Glutino and Kinnikinik. I hear the Glutino bagels are really good and somewhat "normal," although I've never tried them myself.
  17. Bean Soup using Bob's Red Mill 13 Bean mix. There's a whole bunch of different ways you can cook it too. It's really good and filling.
  18. LOL. I get those exact same reactions. Isn't it weird that people treat us like snobs because we're eating different food? I get really strong reactions from people just because I prefer to eat healthy too. It doesn't matter how much I try to explain it either (actually I try to go unnoticed, food-wise, but I never succeed w/ that). I am the snobby,...
  19. What is your secret for getting out of them? I ususally bring some gluten-free muffins and a veggie tray and just eat my own food - but I'd LOVE to just be able to avoid potlucks completely!!!
  20. I feel the same way sometimes! I put so much effort into preparing my food it's crazy. I mean it's worth it..and I'm trying to have fun w/ it by experimenting with some new recipes, but it can be a pain. In fact I was just thinking about how much time I spend washing dishes, because I spend so much time in the kitchen making food! Yeah blah!
  21. Apples with peanut butter, celery with peanut butter, veggies with dairy free ranch dip (Nasoya makes a pretty good one - nobody seems to know the difference), corn chips, jello, envirokids bars (the pb flavor is gluten-free, the chocolate flavor has lactose though), bananas, raisins, strawberries, grapes...
  22. Imagine Butternut Squash and Imagine Tomato soups are both really good.
  23. There were some inaccuracies. But I do like that they said this: "Doctors need to be Aware of the Condition" and this: "...one bite of pizza or a teaspoon of flour can ignite a response from the immune system. This can also cause damage to the small intestine and ultimately other organs." Here's a good stat sheet: Open Original...
  24. I had major sugar cravings for a couple months after I went gluten-free. Then I had major protein cravings. That all went away eventually though.
