  1. Thanks Patti and yay for the sale at Wegman's!
  2. Stash teas are really good! They state on the website that all are gluten-free, but I noticed flavors at Trader Joe's the other day such as Creme Carmel and Leche something or other. Anyway the company just verified with me that all flavors are gluten and dairy-free. Just though I'd share the info (and am I paranoid for thinking there could be dairy in...
  3. California Baby and Aubrey Organics (only certain scents I think) are both pretty good.
  4. Sunshine burgers! They're really good. Open Original Shared Link
  5. Arrowhead Mills Pancake mix is awesome. I also really like Lifestream buckwheat waffles (you can find them in the frozen section of some health food type stores).
  6. Hi Lisa - I'm really sorry you're having such a hard time. Maybe if you eat tomorrow before your exam you should stick to bland, plain food like applesauce, bannanas and camomile tea. When I'm really sick to my stomach sometimes those are the only foods that don't make it worse. Raw veggies or anything processed seems to aggrevate things. Just a thought...
  7. I really like it. You can pick it up at Whole Foods if you don't want to subscribe.
  8. If you're casein intolerant it might take longer until you stop feeling symptoms. To give you an idea, I've been dairy-free for well over ten years. Well, a couple months ago I decided to start eating raw goat cheese. I was doing so wonderfully with no GI type problems for several weeks. Then all of a sudden my throat started swelling and I was having...
  9. Okay so I just came across this recipe, which I really want to try, but...I think I recall reading that dates are often brushed with oat flour and the flour is not listed on the label? Is this true or am I remembering incorrectly? If it is true, does anyone know how to find safe dates? Thanks! Apple Tart This is not your normal apple tart. The healthy...
  10. Well, I usually eat it with just sea salt and olive oil. It's good that way Sometimes I chop up carrots and zucchini and add that in too. Sorry I don't have a better recipe
  11. I ususally take things like Organic Food Bars, Clif Nectar Bars and Alpsnak bars and I always keep something like that in my purse when I'm traveling in case I find myself stuck somewhere with no safe food. Corn Thins or rice cakes with peanut butter come in handy too and so do things like almonds or trail mix. You could pack a cooler with as much food...
  12. Yeah I should add that I'm a really quiet person, so I think that's part of the reason people respond to me like they do. I prefer to just do my own thing and not really explain to anyone in great detail why I'm eating differently. Maybe a brief explanation like "I'd love to be able to eat that but it will make me extremely ill" followed by a quick changing...
  13. I wish I had advice, but I don't think I do. I can sympathize however. In my office it got to the point once where I would get ridiculed for drinking water at my desk. I was apparantly supposed to be drinking coffee and soda like everyone else. I had to explain VERY clearly that I didn't think drinking water was a superior thing to do...I just liked water...
  14. Hehe I'm content with the plain sea salt ones but I think Molly makes a good case for the santa fe barbeque.
  15. I believe that oat protein and casein are both "molecularly close" to gluten but I don't know much about this. Do you mind if I ask who your natruropath is? She sounds like she might know what she's doing
  16. Thanks for the suggestions. I just hate to think about this woman who suffers so much because she's afraid to change her diet. Hopefully she'll come here and we can all help her out.
  17. Well I believe she already has a firm diagnosis, that's the thing. She just doesn't know how important it is to be on a gluten-free diet. I just want to help her out without scaring her or sounding too harsh or overly bombarding her with information (which I could easily do )
  18. I know a woman with Celiac disease (actually she's a friend of a friend of my mom's and I've never met her). Anyway, I'm a bit worried about her. She has *never* been on a gluten-free diet and *is* symptomatic. She also has a young daughter who supposedly suffers from stomach aches all the time. They both eat tons and tons of gluten. She emailed...
  19. I'd say a normal sized foundation (not the smaller one in the sample pack) lasts for atleast 4-6 months. That's for me anyway and I wear a lot of make-up (I have horrible skin). You really do only need a tiny bit though. The key is in the application. I'd even recommend watching that cheesey video that teaches you how to buff, tap and swirl, or whatever...
  20. That's great! I really believe that if kids grow up without ever eating cheese, they won't want to eat cheese and they'll learn early on that it's just not a necessary food. I thought for a short period of time that I could tolerate raw goats cheese (oops I was wrong), but even during that time I had no idea what to do with the cheese. I cook quite a bit...
  21. I've been dairy-free for many many years and I love Chebe pizza with no cheese. I actually wouldn't know what to do with cheese if I could eat it. If soy can be tolerated you might try Soymage cheese. It says "Vegan" in big letters on the front. It is completely casein-free. Chreese is another option. www.chreese.com. You just need to add...
  22. I dont' mean to change the subject of the thread...but don't be afraid to branch out and try all natural brands of gluten-free cereals. There's tons of them. Arrowhead Mills, Perky Nutty Rice and Erewhon are really really good!
  23. I don't know if this was mentioned already (skimming through the thread - sorry), but when you make it to Wild Oats you might want to try their brand of rice milk. It's not quite as good as the Whole Foods brand but you might like it better than some others.
  24. The Vans waffles are good - but lots of ppl seem to get glutened by those (I personally think the soy flour is to blame - atleast for me anyway) Trader Joes bananna waffles are awesome too. I stopped buying them a couple years ago when I went gluten-free, assuming they contained gluten. I was sooo excited recently when I found out they didn't!
  25. Hi Mamaw, I'll definitely let you know if I try it! I hate to recommend something I know nothing about, but how great would it be if it works I think you rub the oil onto your stomach. You would use the little bottles of essential oils found in the aromatherapy section of a health food store.
