Corn Thins are kinda like rice cakes but really thin and really good. I use them to make sandwiches too. I actually like it much better than gluten-free bread. It's much cheaper that way too. They're not meant to be flexible like a tortilla, so I guess I didn't describe them very well, but they are tasty. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED gluten-free/df Breakfast Ideas?
Mango04 replied to VydorScope's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh okay well that makes it a little easier for you then. Corn Thins make for another quick and easy portable breakfast. You can put anything on them - eggs or peanut butter or whatever you can think of. They don't break up like corn tortillas and can sometimes be better than gluten-free bread - in my opinion anyway. -

Today I ate scrambled eggs (cooked in olive oil). I put the eggs in corn tortillas and wrapped them in tin foil to bring to work. Hard boiled eggs are easy and portable as well. You have endless possibilities with fruit. Fruit with peanut or almond butter is good. Gluten-free waffles are great too (I like the buckwheat berry ones - can't think... -

ARCHIVED A Remedy For Bloating And C
Mango04 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I read this in Natural Health magazine and thought I'd share the info... It says, "Red Mandarin oil is able to trigger the release of gas. This antispasmodic is strong enough for adults with constipation. Combine three drops of red mandarin oil with one drop of peppermint oil and apply to your abdomen when you're bloated." This is from pg. 24 of the... -
bummer I'm intolerant to dairy, gluten and soy. For the longest time I insisted on drinking the occasional soy latte, but finally had to accept the fact that I just cannot do it. It is my understanding that casein and soy protein can both cause gluten-like reactions due to their similarities in structure to gluten. You might drive yourself crazy...

If you're determined to drink milk you might want to try organic raw dairy. Some people who cannot tolerate any other form of dairy can tolerate it raw. -

Earth Balance is really really good. It is completely dairy and gluten free. It does contain soy though. -
ARCHIVED More Questions On This Milk Reaction...
Mango04 replied to VydorScope's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Lactaid pills do not help me at all whatsoever and I have tested negative to all of the milk allergy tests. I cannot tolerate any trace of dairy product whether it's lactose free rice cheese with casein or a casein free product that contains lactose. Sometimes the best thing to do is eliminate dairy entirely for about six weeks or so and see how you feel... -

We need to keep in mind that the majority of soy people eat is genetically modified and sprayed with saturated amounts of carcinogenic herbicides. Run a google search for genically modified soy and see what comes up. Here's one example: Open Original Shared Link The first sentence of the article states that soy is the number one cash crop in America...

Sharon's coconut sorbet is amazing. Whole Foods also sells young coconuts. Those are even better than the sorbet (and no gluten risk - just eat the fleshy coconut stuff and the water right out of the cocont shell - yum!) -
ARCHIVED Gluten And Casein Free Packaged Foods
Mango04 replied to terps19's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well I don't avoid all of them, but it is MUCH less expensive and a a lot healthier to stick to naturally gluten and dairy-free stuff (fruit, vegetables, meat, eggs, beans, nuts, lentils, rice etc - there's so much you can do w/ those ingredients). There's also less of a CC risk (you'll see lots of people here getting mysteriously "glutened" by packaged... -

LOL. Fish tacos aren't like your typical ground beef taco. They are much better It's usually something like grilled mahi mahi, or a beer battered fish (if you're a non-celiac eating at a place called Rubios). The fish is in a corn tortilla with stuff like shredded cabbage, fresh salsa, sometimes avocado. mmmm. add some fried okra and you'd have a pretty... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Canadian Bacon In The U.s.

I buy canadian bacon at Whole Foods. I believe it actually says gluten-free on the package. The ingredients are really straight forward - nothing hidden. I'll post the brand name if I can think of it. -
That's a very good question. I drank an amazing vanilla mojito martini the other day. I probably should have been more careful, but it did not make me sick. Hmmm...wish I had more insight on this.

Mango04 replied to Bonnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Yvonne - I just started using coconut oil as chapstick and it works really well. I buy a large jar of organic virgin coconut oil from a health food store, then I put a little bit in a lip balm-size smaller jar and carry it around with me. The texture if it is just like lip balm and it's an extremely healthy oil, so you don't have to worry if you lick... -

ARCHIVED Hooray For Arrowhead Mills!
Mango04 replied to GlutenFreeAl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Here's a tip I learned about Arrowhead Mills. They only put "Gluten-Free" on the packages that were actually tested for traces of gluten. If the package says "Wheat Free" only, that means it didn't come from one of the batches that was actually tested for gluten and could possibly present CC issues (even if the product was made with gluten-free ingredients... -
