  1. Pack a big cooler full of food to bring with you on the plane. Try to find a health food store or a good grocery store as soon as you get there. Make sure you always have a little bit of food with you, everywhere you go, even if it's just an energy bar, a piece of fruit, a bag of almonds etc. That way you can partake in all the fun stuff without...
  2. Ooh - that would be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Ooh sorry you got sick - I know people have been glutened by Amy's. This is just a random observation - I've noticed that a large majority of the time, when people talk about getting glutened by a pre-packaged gluten-free item, that item almost always contains soy. Maybe that's just a coincidence. I notice for example, that people have problems with...
  4. No - USA
  5. Any chance those will be dairy-free as well? The only thing that bugs me about Amy's is the Mac and Cheese. They have rice mac with real cheese and real mac with soy cheese. Grrr...why can they not make rice mac with soy cheese? Okay thanks for letting me vent.
  6. Breakfast: hard boiled eggs and fruit, or fruit with almond/peanut butter. Clif Nectar bars or Alpsnak bars are handy for lazier days. Occasionally I'll eat gluten-free cereal with 365 Organic Rice Milk (my favorites are Perkly's Nutty Rice, Arrowhead Mills Maple Buckwheat Flakes and Erewon Crispy Rice). On weekends pancakes made with Arrowhead Mills...
  7. If you're lactose intolerant you might want to try Earth Balance as well. It's the most amazing alternative to real butter
  8. I think we need an entirely new forum category just for McDonald's
  9. Just curious - is all nutritional yeast off limits? I've eated the Road's Ends Organics Mac and Chreese. It's made with nutritional yeast and says gluten-free on the box...
  10. Can you tell us more about this?
  11. I believe Starbucks serves Tazo tea. Here's the info I've come across on that: "All gluten-free except Honeybush, Green Ginger, Lemon Ginger, and Tea Lemonade. This info is on their website www.tazo.com in the FAQ section."
  12. Aromatherapy helps for me. Try burning pure essential lavendar oil in an oil burner (I got a cheap one from Ikea - works great - and you can get the oil from a health food store). I've found it has quite the impact. Bach's Rescue Remedy is amazing as well. I'm hesitant to recommend it though because I haven't officially confirmed it's gluten-free...
  13. Hi All, I was wondering the same thing, and was hesitant to post that info. at first because I was unsure of what they were saying exactly. But, since they use terminology like "direct ingredient" and "cross contamination," I think there's a chance that they might know what they're talking about when it comes to gluten. Hmmm....maybe someone at See's...
  14. You might be able to get a local health food store to carry it. There's a store near me called Henry's (owned by Wild Oats) and they have it there.
  15. This is from the website Open Original Shared Link The following email was received 1/06 from Amanda Morehead, a See's Candies Customer Service rep. Also note in the comments section that you can have the clerk look up specific candy ingredients for a double check. "Our Quality Assurance department has advised that we have recently reformulated our...
  16. Hi Jen - I've tested negative for a dairy allergy, but I have a very severe dairy intolerance. Lactaid makes me really sick. The only dairy I can tolerate is raw organic goat cheese. Anything processed or pasturized makes me sick. I was also unable to tolerate lactose free rice cheese that had casein in it. Hope you figure it out too.
  17. Annie's Roasted Red Pepper Annie's Sesame Ginger I just wish Annie's would make a gluten-free version of the Goddess Dressing I also like Newman's Own Olive Oil and Vinegar
  18. For snacks, Go Raw products are awesome. I really like the granola, seeds and pumpkin seed bars Open Original Shared Link More ideas - almonds, fruit with almond butter, alpsnak bars, hummus, Organic Food Bars... Hmmm it's hard to find stuff that doesn't involve cooking. My favorite quick meals to cook involve black beans with veggies or brown...
  19. I was looking at the World's Healthiest Foods website and I stumbled across this recipe. I made it and it's really good (especially if you like coconut milk) Here's a link to the recipe Open Original Shared Link Prep and Cook Time: 30 minutes Ingredients: 1 cup Arborio rice (this is the Italian rice risotto is made with) 2 cups water 1...
  20. Hi Mikeyfoos and Nancym. I'm glad there are atleast a few of us on here. Welcome to the gluten-free world. I saw you posted something on another thread about beer - so the first thing I'll tell you is you can find Ramapo Valley beer at the Beverages and More in Encinitas. I checked the location in Mission Valley as well, but they said...
  21. I use 365 Organic rice milk from Whole Foods and it works great!
  22. When it comes to the bulk bins, I'm often more comfortable with the ones on the top row - you push a little lever thing instead of using a scoop. That way people aren't opening up the bins and reaching into it with possibly contaminated scoops or tongs as often. I get the whole organic almonds from one of the top bins at Whole Foods frequently and I've...
  23. Interesting, thanks.
  24. What is xiotol? I googled it out of curiosity (yeah it's a slow day at work ) but couldn't find anything.
  25. I don't believe Splenda is safe. I also don't believe highly processed anything is good for you. I just don't believe in eating artificial foods. But I won't preach to anyone. I also prefer honey, stevia or raw sugar. That's just my opinion.
