  1. The funniest commercial is the one advertising string cheese that makes you regular . It's some sort of nasty processed cheese...they basically say that eating this cheese is a cure all for women who experience digestive problems (apparantly it doesn't work for men LOL).
  2. Like others have said, pure maple syrup is gluten-free. Processed fake maple syrup (the stuff found at conventional grocery stores that contains a bajillion ingredients) can sometimes contain gluten. If the stuff you found at Wild Oats is 100% pure maple syrup, it should be safe
  3. I've made bananna and blueberry muffins using the recipe from tropicaltraditions.com Mercola has a recipe on his website for chocolate cake using coconut flour. That one's good too. It's a different flour to bake with. You usually need tons and tons of liquid and lots of eggs, but very little flour. It's good though, and pretty healthy as well...
  4. I used to drink stuff like that (a long time ago) and it always gave me those symptoms. I don't think it's gluten - just all those weird chemicals...
  5. I thought of this too. When things started gettting really bad I fortunately had time to run to Henry's to stock up on cans of tuna and soups and plenty of gluten-free food, in case we had to evacuate. I'm sooo lucky because we didn't, but it made me realize how unprepared I am, and I was wondering what I would do if I was stuck somewhere and all the roads...
  6. This recipe is amazing! I used 1/2 cup applesauce and 1/2 cup walnut oil instead of 1 cup oil. I used 1 cup sucanat instead of 1 2/3 cup sugar, and 1 t. pumpkin pie spice mix instead of 1 t. cinnamon. Then...since I'm casein-free, I added chopped walnuts to the top of the cake when there was about 10 minutes baking time left. When it came out...
  7. I'm here in San Diego County. It's scary here. I hope all of our board members from Southern California are safe
  8. I've never been to Thailand, but I've seriously considered going several times, and never felt that food would be too much of an issue. I believe their primary grain is rice rather than wheat (I'm pretty sure even Thai soy sauce is wheat-free). You might want to bring some dining cards with you so you can communicate your need to be gluten-free if...
  9. My buttons aren't back either
  10. My buttons are still missing too.
  11. I think it's a bad idea to have unreasonably high expectations of a bunch of random strangers on the internet. I'm sorry some people are so upset though. p.s. that wasn't directed toward anyone specific...just a thought that pops into my mind often while reading threads like this...
  12. I dug around a little to find it b/c I'm soooo excited about this
  13. Yep. Go here: Open Original Shared Link They have gluten-free beer too! omg I'm going there
  14. I don't have any useful advice....just wanted to say I'm sorry that happened to you
  15. You're welcome. The link I posted isn't working on my end. If that's the case for you, too, it's worth reading the whole thing at www.glutenfreegirl.com. Enjoy your trip!
  16. Not just you. It's also showing me that I've read a whole bunch of threads I haven't looked at yet (all of the black folders are faded). Weird.
  17. from glutenfreegirl.com about eating gluten-free in Italy: The rest is at Open Original Shared Link p.s. Have you tried Redbridge or Bard's Tale beer?
  18. I used...gosh I don't know . I remember it said "organic pumpkin" and it was from Wild Oats. Sorry that doesn't really help. My muffins were a little doughy, but I don't think I baked them long enough. Really good though, despite that little glitch . Oh, and I used walnut oil. I don't know if walnut oil is meant for baking, but the flavor is...
  19. I made muffins yesterday using Namaste muffin mix (the regular one, not the sugar-free). I added 1/2 can pumpkin, 1 tbsp pumpkin spice mix, a handful of dried cranberries and some chopped walnuts. They were yummy I think if you were using the sugar-free mix, you would need to add some Stevia, or fruit or something to sweeten it up a bit. (Thanks...
  20. Well I decided to be the person to take the big risk and try them . They are really good!!!
  21. Thanks everyone I don't remember what real cheese tastes like, and I do like Road's Ends, so I think I'll go ahead and give this stuff a try
  22. I'm thinking of ordering the Say Cheez Pasta and the Pasta Pisavera. It looks a bit like Chreese, but with hemp instead of lentil flour. Has anyone tried this stuff? Would love to read some product reviews . Thanks Open Original Shared Link
  23. I think the best sandwiches are made using Food For Life sprouted corn tortillas. Not exactly bread, but if you heat up the tortillas before adding ingredients, then roll them up and wrap in foil, they keep really well until lunch.
  24. Ooh, good idea.
  25. Creamy Coconut Rice (Dairy-Free, Soy-Free) 1 cup white jasmine rice 3/4 cup water 3/4 cup coconut milk cook the rice like you normally would. when it's done, stir in chopped cilantro.
