  1. I agree on the name. haha. They think they're being clever since it's a vegan company and it's pronounced "trees." Maybe that was obvious but I didn't get it until I read it on their website.
  2. I hear a lot of people say that. Maybe I find it edible becasue I really don't remember what real cheddar tastes like
  3. I find with the mac and chreese, I have to use twice as much liquid as it calls for, and lots of olive oil (or you can use Earth Balance). Then I add some sea salt. Then it's pretty good.
  4. Thanks for the link.
  5. There's hydrolized soy protein and corn in Aubrey Organics Shampoo.
  6. Coconut oil works well. You can't beat a single ingredient item. It's much less greasy than it sounds. Smells good too. It also works as a lip balm, eye make-up remover, eye cream, mouth wash and it's great at taking out any stinging or burning on your legs after you shave. You can also apparantly use it to make your hair soft and as a deodorant (but...
  7. Wow! That's nasty! I hope by "going away" you mean you're going far enough away from this person so that you won't have to deal with her anymore. Sheesh!
  8. Gosh, I don't know. The Lifestream ones contain soy oil and soy lecithin, both of which are less harmful to me (I think) than soy flour. I'll need to check the Trader Joes Bananna ones. I think they have a lot of junk in them, so they probably have soy, but I'm not sure...
  9. LOL I'm sorry that made me laugh but I hope your lips feel better soon.
  10. Yeah Ursula I know you have it tough in terms of lots and lots of intolerances, and you manage your situation well. Okay well I knew as soon as I vented "outloud" about this situation I would feel dumb about it . I really don't believe in shying away from life situations because of my food problems, and there are certain situations that do require...
  11. You're right, I know I have to go. I feel selfish worrying about it in the first place, becasue i know it's not really about me. Maybe calling ahead is my best bet.
  12. I have't tried those yet. Maybe I'll order some! I eat the mac and chreese sometimes if I'm having a really lazy day. It's great gluten-free/df/sf convenience food! I think I like the cheddar penne better than the alfredo one, but they're both good
  13. In my opinion, the only thing on you list you should be careful with is the Vans Waffles. A lot of people do fine with those, but lots of people react too (I personally think it's the soy flour in those that "glutens" people). If you eat them and start to feel sick, you might want to eliminate them. I use Burt's Bees lip balm with no problems.
  14. haha I love saying that about chreese and then bracing for people's reactions. But I agree. I like it too!
  15. Goat cheese has casein. The structure of the protein is just slightly different and some people can tolerate it. You can get Vegan Slices by Soymage. Chreese is another option (www.chreese.com). Or you can make cheesy sauces out of raw nuts.
  16. ditto. I just make sure I buy the packages that specifically have the gluten-free symbol.
  17. I think it's worth the effort. I'm not sure what's available in Japan as far as naturally gluten-free foods, but is there a place where you can buy rice, veggies, fruit and meat? Can you focus on stuff like that, or are you in a situation where you have to eat out a lot?
  18. So my team at work won this award for something, and as a result we get taken out to lunch. I do think it's really nice of the company to do this and I would never expect them to accomodate my food issues. The problem is, I get sick almost every single time I eat out. I'm very strictly dairy-free as well as gluten-free. I really just don't want to go...
  19. LOL I thought the same thing when I was eating them! I kept going back to my freezer to check the box and make sure they were safe!
  20. Yep, that's why I ate there. It was good
  21. Here's some info about the connection between gluten intolerance and parasites: PARASITES The structural changes to the environment of the small intestine from gluten intolerance create the perfect habitat for development of pathogenic infections. Inflammation in the small intestine causes a structure called the crypts of Liberkuhn to deepen. The elongating...
  22. Sorry if my post seemed dramatic. LOL. I'm just really passionate about keeping dairy-intolerant kids dairy-free. I think it comes from having suffered from a dairy allergy as a kid but not figuring that out until I was 14. It really sounds like he's casein intolerant. If you want a some sort of diagnosis, Enterolab is always a good way to go. If...
  23. No you are absolutely not wasting your time with a CF diet, especially if your son is casein intolerant!!!!!!! It will be worth it in the long run!!!!!!! It might take him a while to heal, and you might be dealing with multiple intolerances. You also said he's only been casein-free for a day. It can take much much longer than that for the symptoms to...
  24. Yes those should be fine. Unless of course there's multiple ingredients listed on the package. I'll give you a tip though - single whole carrots are way cheaper. I can get the organic ones from a co-op for 75 cents/pound. Not as convenient - but you can get a lot of carrots for less than a buck that way.
  25. Yeah I can't do dairy either. I survived b/c I ate at least one meal everyday at Whole Foods. It's worth finding out if there's a health food store near the hotel.
