ARCHIVED How Many Of Us Are Df, gluten-free, Sf, Ef, Cf, Etc. ?
Mango04 replied to marciab's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm gluten-free, sf, df, red meat-f, I stick to organic fruits and veggies and organic eggs and white meat. I can get away with a little bit of packaged food but only the stuff with very few ingredients from the health food store. I also eat rice, beans, lentils, seeds, nuts etc etc. I was temporarily corn intolerant but after eliminating corn for a couple... -
ARCHIVED Need Food Ideas For 5 Hr. Flight
Mango04 replied to popoki321's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Congrats! You can pack veggies...like carrot sticks and celery sticks and stuff like that. You can make a salad with chicken breast on top and bring a little container of dressing on the side (I packed that once when I traveled across the country and it worked well). You can probably pack any food you would normally cook for yourself. Just put it in... -
When I eat soy a lot of the symptoms occur in my throat. I don't think that's ever happened to my uvula...but my throat does close up and swell and it gets really hard for me to breathe.

ARCHIVED Annie's Naturals Salad Dressing
Mango04 replied to GravStars's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There's a company called Organicville that makes a gluten-free Goddess Dressing. It's not quite as good as the Annie's brand but it's pretty close. -
Gosh, that's scary. It's weird becasue I just know that something at the dentist "poisoned" me. I don't know if I was neccessarily glutened or dairy'd...but it was something. So...I had to get that dental work done last week because I'm getting four veneers put in my mouth (in about a week and a half). Should I be worried about what might be in...

A few months ago I got this large bowl of piping hot soup from Whole Foods. I got it to go and when I got in my car I put the soup on the console thing between the two front seats. Somehow, I managed to turn around, and knock the entire thing of soup towards me. I was covered with soup and it was all over my car. It was tomato based tortilla soup with...

ARCHIVED I Must Be Crazy, Or Am I?
Mango04 replied to penguin's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
C, weight gain, sleepiness and fogginess can all very well be gluten symptoms. If you don't feel great, overall, all the time when you're back on gluten, you could should still consider gluten being a problem. I seem to notice a lot of people who go back on gluten or dairy, and they feel kind of "yuck" and have weird new symptoms they can't figure out,... -
ARCHIVED Question For You Veterans...
Mango04 replied to JerryK's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
For me it can be an instantaneous reaction, or it can take hours, or days. I don't know why it varies like that, but it does. If you got sick at 7pm it very well could have been from your breakfast. -
Hmmm...I never thought of that, thanks for the advice. That's exactly what happened to me. They kept giving me more and more anesthesia...they gave me soooo much it was ridiculous. Thanks for the insight everyone.

ARCHIVED Check Out These Pictures Of My Teeth
Mango04 replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yeah, you would think they would want to find out what was causing the problem in the first place. Most doctors just like to cover up the symptoms though, so they probably stopped worrying as soon as you got the crowns... -
Thanks, that does help. It just doesn't feel like a glutening. It feels like I'm being "poisoned" by something else, but who knows! Thanks for the response!
-
Has anyone else had really weird reactions, as in feeling "poisoned" for a week after getting dental work done? Could it be from the novacaine, or whatever it is they numb you with? I had never been numbed at the dentist (as far as I can remember - no fillings or anything), so maybe it's normal, but I have felt SO WEIRD since I got some dental work done...

ARCHIVED Traveling To Europe
Mango04 replied to GlutenFreeAl's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I went to Barcelona before I was gluten-free too. I remember they had menus in lots of different languages. There's lots of fresh food. I bet paella is gluten-free. I remember lots of seafood too. Maybe you can pick up some dining cards just in case, but I bet you won't have too much of a problem there. -
ARCHIVED Www.chreese.com
Mango04 replied to pinkpei77's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hmmm...with the exception of trying raw organic goat cheese a few months ago, I haven't eaten cheese in about 12 years, so I don't know whether or not it resembles cheese. LOL. Have you ever tried nutritional yeast? It's made with that and lentil flour, which makes kind of a "cheesy" sauce when you mix it with liquid and heat it. I don't think there... -
ARCHIVED Some Symptoms Diseapering
Mango04 replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Sorry, I wasn't trying to make fun of you . I don't think anyone here cares if you can't spell, but if you ever feel like learning how to, you might as well Okay, back to the topic... -
ARCHIVED Feeling Bad After Eating Wheat......
Mango04 replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Are you thinking you have celiac disease or gluten intolerance? It's definitely a possibility. -
I can wear rings and necklaces but earrings are out of the question. I'm not sure if this is gluten related or not.

ARCHIVED Male Deodorant
Mango04 replied to Clark Bent as Stupor-Man's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm not a male, but I've tried all of the natural deodorants and none of them worked for me at all. Everyone else on Earth seems to have great luck with the Crystal but it doesn't work for me (but everyone else I know really really likes it). If you're interested in another aluminum-free option you might want to try Adidas. They make versions for men... -
ARCHIVED Question For The Expert Bakers
Mango04 replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Okay so I made these last night (for like the fourth time) and I think I finally got it right this time. They are good. I used: 2 cups Bob's Red Mill gluten-free Flour 3/4 cup flax meal 2 teaspoons cinnamon 1 teaspoon xantham gum 2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 carrots shredded 2 apples peeled and chopped... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Vegetarian Travel
Mango04 replied to chocolatebunny's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Do you eat eggs? Hard boiled eggs are always a safe choice at restaurants if you need some protein. I'm dairy, soy and gluten-free and I hardly ever eat meat, but I travel quite a bit without problems. I do get hungry sometimes when I travel, but I figure being a little hungry at some point in the day is better than being sick! -
ARCHIVED Casein Elimination Diet
Mango04 replied to mart's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It might take at least 2-3 weeks until you see a change in your son's symptoms. Don't put him back on milk. Keep him CF for at least one month. I reintroduced casein (via raw goat cheese) several months ago and it took me several weeks to get over the symptoms. I just don't think it leaves the body in a couple days. One month CF is not as hard... -
ARCHIVED Fake Paper Cuts
Mango04 replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Vitamins aren't a bad idea, but ideally you want to get your nutrients through whole foods. If your stomach can handle lots of fruits and vegetables, that would be your best bet (whole healthy foods are less expensive than good vitamins too). -
ARCHIVED Some Symptoms Diseapering
Mango04 replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You should teach yourself how to spell. Open Original Shared Link (I'm a dork. I like reading grammar books and stuff). I mean, if you can learn so much about celiac disease in a short period of time, I think you're capable of learning how to spell. Sorry, that was random and did not answer any of your questions, but I couldn't help it -
Don't you love it when people test us? Like it would be some sort of victory for them if they caught us eating gluten. What's up with that?
