  1. There are some reasons for a diagnosis, like a 504 plan in the public schools. Celiac would be a disability and they would have to accommodate your child in the cafeteria with special lunches, etc. Also all their teachers would be specially notified and know, from an official standpoint, that gluten is a major issue. This would matter in college as well. ...
  2. Thank you for the encouragement, tests should be back next week went for initial consultation for back pain today at a spine center. They seemed really great. Found out I have very little flexibility in my hips as well. I mean, its bad. Didn't realize how bad it was. I had noticed it was a bit wonky, but wow. They noticed something was wrong with...
  3. So many ppl here had years, if not decades, suffering and waiting. It's pretty normal . Try to think of it as a time period where you can enjoy, possibly, the last yummy gluten foods of your life, lol. Trying to put a positive spin on it may help a little bit.... just a little? Ok maybe not but try at least you found a doc that sounds good so far!
  4. Glad you finally got good advice! Will they be doing the blood test first, the proper way? Hopefully they will do it on your first visit and it won't just be a new patient consultation. Good luck to you!
  5. She seemed to say t4, not free t4. I guess we shall see. she brought in another doc who was nice but carefully explained to me like I was dumb about how the tsh I had was in normal range, but they'd be happy to recheck it. He said they only aim for the 1 in people already diagnosed with issues. they also said the symptoms could be coming from my...
  6. Sounds like she's not into the whole thyroid idea, but is willing to check the t4. She also wants to check for other autoimmune diseases as she said some of my symptoms could match up with other issues. So I'm eagerly awaiting the blood draw.
  7. In the doctors office right now, just had the vitals taken.... and hoping my doc of the day is sympathetic to symptoms.
  8. Wow, I can just see you in that doctors office and the look on their face. I have never had a monte cristo sandwich sadly, but I sure want one now. thank you for sharing your great story!
  9. Your pics aren't very clear, but I can tell you it doesn't look like the dh I had, but that doesn't mean it's not dh. You need to be tested. Celiac isn't horrible at all once you manage it correctly with a gluten-free diet. And keep eating gluten until all your tests are done. You need a celiac panel blood test too.
  10. My husband, not celiac, had this happen when we had gotten out of a hot movie theatre. We actually went to the er and they thought it was something to do with his heart, but could find nothing wrong. so sorry, no answers but commiseration. hope you don't have it happen again, but if you do, see your doctor!
  11. Sounds like a good hospital. Good luck!
  12. We must live pretty close to each other. Which hospital is your gi at? I had a sort of diagnosis by having my constant dh rash diagnosed as dh, but I never had the blood test or endo. Just went gluten-free and it started working immediately. I had the opposite gut issue! And chronic pain. It was awful. I'm so sorry you are going thru this but it sounds...
  13. I too have the sd and have not seen relief from it after being gluten-free for 9 years. It has gotten better, but never quite goes away. I think there are some others who have the same issue. It may be more linked to milk products, cow milk specifically. I gave up cow milk for the first year being gluten-free as I couldn't tolerate it. I still use ketaconozole...
  14. Has the sister with thyroid issues been tested? Celiac and hypo or hashi's tend to go hand in hand. And for that matter you should be tested too. Celiac is a genetic issue. good luck!
  15. Here is yet another link to a gluten-free host to purchase: Open Original Shared Link
  16. Shampoo because some of them leave a coating on your hair. You touch hair, touch food, put food in mouth, or hair ends up in your mouth from wind....bam. It's so easy to brush your hair from your eyes, etc. and have it happen. At least that's where I understand the concern to be!
  17. Neutrogenia on my face and whatever is on sale everywhere else
  18. The waiting is very difficult. in the meantime, it's time to start reading the newbie thread and see what you can start doing, as there is nothing wrong with trying a gluten-free diet even if you are not diagnosed with celiac. You could have non celiac gluten intolerance. No way to know if eliminating gluten will help until you try. Don't expect immediate...
  19. You are lucky so many of your favorite foods are going to be gluten free already. Except of course for your delicious breads. You will have to watch eating out. Meaning, with many breads cooked in the tandoori oven, you can't have anything also cooked in the same oven. It will be cross contaminated. So it will be best for you to cook most, if not all...
  20. Good to know. I have read here several people referring to only eating grass fed beef. So I got that stuck in my head it would be bad. Thanks for the clarification!
  21. Hello and welcome! my first thought is to try to find a spice store near you. Here where I live there are 2 spice bazaar stores that sell spices, flours, rice, etc in bulk, making it much cheaper than a grocery store. We love curries, so we are always going there to try new blends. Hope this helps a little! ps could you post your roti recipe...
  22. No reason it shouldn't be gluten-free, unless he was eating donuts right before he was shot, lol. Just kidding. Unless it's a grain-gluten grain- fed animal I would think he should be fine to eat. Sounds very exciting to try!
  23. Awesome, thanks! Also, I just remembered I forgot to add a possible symptom of my standard temp is 96.7F. Haven't had a fever since 1988 when I had rocky mt spotted fever!
  24. How long have you been gluten-free? Took my dh many months to go away after I mastered the diet.
