Hi all - - I've been gluten-free for nearly three months and my hair is STIll falling out significantly. Am wondering if any of you saw diminishment of this and how long it took. I'm quite concerned. BTW I am 44, so changes will naturally occur, but no signs of menopause yet. I'm no longer anemic, as far as I know.... Help! Susan

ARCHIVED Marshmallow Peeps Pie Recipe
DingoGirl replied to mmaccartney's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
A Peeps pie....can't imagine.....Peeps are kind of fascinating, haven't had one in years, kind of a marshmallow with so much sugar that the sugar crunches, as I recall? -

ARCHIVED Elizabeth Hasselhoff - The View

My friends and I have discussed this exact topic, as we ponder various surgical procedures in our advancing years...and we think, though they are freakishly large, they are real.....note the wrinkles - lips with collagen are stretched tight, no wrinkles (bet you never thought about this in detail, did you?) susan -
ARCHIVED Elizabeth Hasselhoff - The View

You know what I think is hilarious? This thread started out about a TV personality who may have Celiac (she really SHOULD talk about it if that 's the case but I wonder if the producers won't let her?)- and has turned into heated opinions on ....big lips, marriage wreckers, Hollywood scandals and overseas adoptions... Poor Elizabeth Hasselbeck, she... -
At least you get to EAT the gluten...in my dreams, there are brownies, cookies, hamburgers, good gluten-y junk food, and I just see it, but don't ever get to have any of it, even while sleeping. Funny, never dreamed about food in my entire life until now.....

Hi Steve - - this is a great place for questions and answers, really nice people. I am new also and pleased to report that my bowels "shaped up" nicely and pretty quickly on the gluten-free diet. Welcome! Susan

And stealing husbands....what was wrong with Jen, after all? Okay I'm giving the Pitt/Jolie marriage um.....two years. I think Bitsy will be okay... It probably WOULD be difficult being hitched to Billy Bob, but he and Angelina seemed perfectly matched - I"m surprised it failed - (you are quite funny with your observations, I... -

Still, no matter what she does, I"ll always think of her as a homewrecker and rather unstable....third marriage coming up? See how long this one lasts. And, I disagree - Hasselback is wholesome and adorable, I think, a counteragent to the fun cynicism of the show! Susan -
ARCHIVED Ok Friends - Help

Lisa, I tried to get Clnique ingredients and haven't had luck so far - the website was useless and I haven't contacted the company yet. I did get a response from L'Oreal - I use their Endless 8-hour Lipstick (color is 830 - "naked ambition" - a pinkish neutral that seems to look great on everybody, FYI!) Here's the nice note they sent: February 2... -
Nessa, just like Elonwy and others have said, grieving IS a natural part of the process. I grieved heavily and cried for about the first five days, and then just decided to take charge and see what I COULD eat. I'ts been two and a half months, and I feel so much better, that the grieving stopped. Yes, it is irritating and sad sometimes still, but the gains...

ARCHIVED What Are Foods That We Would Like?
DingoGirl replied to Neshy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
When I am exhausted and hungy, I would just LOVE to be able to hit a drive-thru now and then, and something other than Wendy's chili.... Also gluten-free fluffy, melting donuts, like Krispy Kreme....gluten-free crusty, heavy sourdough bread.... *sniff* -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Feel Good At All?
DingoGirl replied to Carolita's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My bowels changed IMMEDIATELY after going gluten-free - they were pretty much normal for the first time in years. I do notice subtle changes if I accidentally ingest gluten. There has been little to no stomach pain or anything wrong (except a couple of times - ugh). Mentally - that takes a little longer. I am just over two months gluten-free - still... -
Jen - I am excited about this news as I miss Tollhouse cookies more than ANYTHING! Susan

Hilarious - yes, let's blame gluten for every bad thing - - Even during my sleep, gluten haunts me.....the other night ( I do weird things during my sleep folks) I kept feeling that something awful was trying to get into my bedroom (whilst sleeping) and I HAD to keep it out....yup, it was GLUTEN....so I actually got up, walked out into the living room... -

Meg - I don't know how you have such a complicated job - I am doing the MOST menial work currently as can't think at all, hope it doesn't stay that way! Your job sounds really difficult, so good for your that you're managing to hold it together. I have a terrible time reading notes, studied piano for most of my life and could never get the brain... -
ARCHIVED Thinking And Memory Problems
DingoGirl replied to megsylvan2's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Meg - the first paragraph of your post sounds like me EXACTLY, to a tee, and better than I could have described it myself since my brain feels SO impaired these days! IN fact, I gave up piano a few years ago, and used to practice up to five hours a day, because it just seemed too exhausting. I do feel it's an excellent memory and brain-sharpening exercise... -
ARCHIVED Prescription Sleep Medication
DingoGirl replied to lorka150's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I come from a long line of insomniacs and have not slept well, without drugs, for 15 years. I have taken Seroquel to sleep for about 3 years now. 100 mg - I don't even know what seroquel is, actually, it was given to me during my manic days (how I miss those) and in a much higher dose. Lauren mentioned Trazadone and that worked well for me also. You... -

Does she eat cheese? If so you could take corn tortillas, a little butter and some beans and cheese and make chesadillas....this is assuming you bring your little stove and some cookware...I always took my stove as could not live on just dried foods for more than a day or two...also some gluten-free bread and peanut butter will work in a pinch. -

DingoGirl replied to ebrbetty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
To Betty, and all of us {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} I wonder the exact same thing myself, but it's not stomach pains I experience while gluten-free, it's the mental stuff. Why am I STILL so depressed and FOGGY on this diet, and what is the point??? I felt this bad, no, maybe NOT this bad while on gluten, so why... -
ARCHIVED Sleep Too Much Prior To Diagnosis Of Celiac
DingoGirl replied to ktneal's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Before my diagnosis, I was sleeping 12 - 14 hours and FORCING myself to get up...it was so awful. I went immediately gluten-free upon diagnosis, it was tedious at first trying to figure everything out.....but after just a few days on the diet, I felt MUCH better. Physically, I usually have much more energy now, and only sleep 8 hours usually, over two months... -
Hi all, it'll my first trip out of town this weekend since going gluten-free. Anyone know any good and safe restaurants in Santa Cruz area? Shouldn't be TOO hard, it's a very health-conscious spot. Thanks in advance if you can help! Susan

wow Paula, good memory. wellbutrin - not so good. Not good at all, in fact, I won't go into details, but this may be the worst I've ever felt in my whole life. And I thought going gluten-free would solve everything......*sigh* Any prayers would be really appreciated. Oops - this was supoosed to be a fun thread!
