  1. What a coincidence, Cole and I wished on the first star too and for the same thing. She's had more energy today, but the eczema is a lot worse and she's gagged soooo much. I'm confused as to what may be causing what. Judy, EE/EG just seem a lot harder to control than celiac disease. With celiac disease we know gluten is the culprit, avoid it and all...
  2. EE/EG is suspected, thus the scope. I went back ondairy and egg and as much as I love it I'm thinking of coming back off of it. Her gagging is worse, if that's possible and the eczema is getting worse too. I'm so afraid it's EE/EG. For some reason, I never had any doubts or fears about treating celiac, but EE/EG scares me. Just finding the food culprit...
  3. Heard back from GI dr. They are going to keep Megan next week after the scope and pump her full of TPN to get a little boost in calories until her IV wears out. I'm also supposed to go back on dairy and eggs to make sure tests are accurate. I had forgotten how much I LOVE dairy. I'll be in heaven over the weekend!!! I'm also supposed to compose a list...
  4. Soooo glad things are looking better on so many fronts! Hugs and prayers! Tanya
  5. I use various soy and almond milks for cereal, but for drinking, the only thing I can stand is Silk Very Vanilla. Silk and 8th continent chocolate are pretty good too.
  6. Sorry she has it, but at least you know what you're fighting now!!! good luck in getting started and YEA for the positive attitude!
  7. your best bet is to call the manufacturers. That way you hear it from the source!
  8. My gums and my son's teeth are terrible. I now think that my grandmother had celiac disease. She had to have all of her teeth pulled in her late 20's because of horrible gum disease and infection. That was over 70 years ago, though. I didn't realize this until recently when I started complaining of my gums to my Dad. Thank goodness for modern dental...
  9. I posted an update last night and now I can't find it. Oh well, here we go again. Meg had a bad day yesterday. Very clingy and whiny, which is not like her at all. She gagged too many times to count during the night. thanks for all the prayers. One big improvement is the D. Only 2 dirty diapers yesterday. MUCH better. She also seems to be...
  10. Cast iron is very poruous and traps food molecules. that's how it gets seasoned. I had been cooking gluten-free on mine for months before I knew this. The old fashioned way to clean cast iron is to burn it, but someone on here had the great suggestion of the self cleaning setting on the oven. Thanks for the lipstick tip.
  11. Sorry you had such a bad experience. I think most of us have been there, done that. Usually nutritionists aren't that much help, but not always. Mine handed me a description of celiac disease and said good luck. Don't be discouraged if the biopsy is negative. My son had similar symptoms until 3, but had 2 negative biopsies. By readingon this site I...
  12. Thanks for asking. Meg's not feeling too well, but the D seems better. She felt a bit better tonight, so I hope that is a sign that tomorrow will be better. Thanks for asking. glad you're enjoying your clean room. I don't think it's work hurting your leg over, though. I'm one to talk, though. Hard to point at you when 3 fingers are pointing back at...
  13. Edy's, except for the obvious ones like cookie dough. I buy the light ones. Really good.
  14. Thanks Jessica. I found that, but was worried about the flavorings part since it didn't specify. I appreciate the effort, though!!
  15. We're trying to work on feeding therapies for my daughter. Lip smackers were suggested. Anyone know if these are gluten-free? I checked the web and tried customer service with no luck.
  16. MOVING FURNITURE?????? I really don't have time to come to PA to sit on you, so you really must slow down! I'm glad you got in with the surgeon so quickly. What goes around comes around for sure. God bless, get well, STAY OFF YOUR FOOT, and I'll check in soon. Hugs, Tanya
  17. Thanks so much for the hugs and prayers. I definately feel the cyber LOVE! Meg just doesn't feel wel lon the formula, but she can't tolerate the avocado at all through the intestinal feeds. We HAVE to get calories in her because of her losing weight. Starting the Neocate 1 + today. Hopefully that will work. she's only had D once today, so maybe...
  18. REALLY tired, so making it short and sweet. The drs. all agreed on no fundo for now because of her heart situation. After heart repair, she might be strong enough. going ahead with scope next Wed. The GI gravely said he is VERY concerned at her not gaining weight and is considering TPN. Cardiology balked at this because of risk of infection with PICC...
  19. I didn't want to try med either, but finally did and I am sooooo glad. I'm on Reglan and it about doubled my supply. You only take it 2 weeks, so it's not a long term thing. After it kicks in, it eases the stress, which makes it easier to make more. Good for you for working so hard at it!!!!
  20. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, but had to take my son to the dentist for the last checkup after his oral surgery. He was a little angel, so things went great. I can't think of what PICC stands for right now. It's basically a very heavy duty IV. We had a home health nurse to change the dressing on it once a week, but otherwise, I managed it. You have...
  21. She's done well today, just still gagging and retching. We have appts tomorrow with a surgeon, GI, anesthesiologist, and nutritionist. The good news is that she's been able to tolerate the formula with this new tube!!! I'm able to fortify the breast milk and get more calories now. That's a big help. I'm trying to freeze some breast milk so I won't be...
  22. I second the laughter being good medicine. still praying for you!!! sounds like you're doing too much, though. TAKE IT EASY!!!!! Hugs, Tanya
  23. Thre are a lot of ups a downs in the beginning. I think a lot of this for me was really learning the diet. I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning, which caused a lot of issues for me. Don't mean to state the obvious, but are you sure everything is really gluten-free? I made so many mistakes to start with, I guess I just assume others could too!
  24. Went ott he ped. cardiologist this morning with Meg. Her sats were in teh 80s and her BP was good, but she has lost 3 oz. This isn't good at all. He said we can't go into surgery with her losing weight b/c she won't recover well. This probably means a fundo will be before surgery. We now have an appt. with her GI and a surgeon on Wed. at Vandy. Please...
  25. Hope you're feeling better today Judy! Hugs!
