  1. NO EFFIN' AFLAC GEESE!!!!! If we have the aflac bird I'm moving out of Rachelville. Don't ask why, too traumatic. A guy and a lot of vodka. I'll leave it at that. Besides, the AFLAC bird is a DUCK. Geese honk, they don't quack (That was a premature post, I'm all caught up now though, as of 8:56pm)
  2. Can't be that bad! WOOOHOOO!!!! I'M POST # 5000!!!! GO ME!!! Susan, I think we might need a 12 step program for your nuggets before you start dating again Then again... ....he does have a cabin. What did you say, anyway?
  3. I like your analogy! I've used the one where it's like you're a really good football player, MVP, etc., and then you're suddenly stuck in a wheelchair. Tell me about it! My grand scheme was to go to culinary school and complete a patisserie program, but then the celiac dx happened. Baking gluten-free is like learning how to cook all over again, and...
  4. Both country time and lipton are unilever, so any gluten containing ingredients are clearly listed. Last time I looked, country time was gluten-free.
  5. That list is as of August 2004, so they may not have even made that product yet. I would call them, but it's likely ok. Oh, and tortes (especially chocolate), by definition, are flourless (or use very little). They tend to also have few ingredients, such as eggs, cocoa, sugar, cream...maybe one or two other things. Many tortes use finely ground nuts...
  6. You could always ask them if they could use gluten-free soy sauce (kari-out has one) or use tamari when making things for your kid. Couldn't hurt to ask... Even then, you could always add either of those things after the fact
  7. So do they expect you to bow down to the porcelain god or to sit for service? At least you get paid for plasma. I couldn't do it after the second tim (when I was in college) because some "wierd antibodies" came back in my blood. I guess they don't want abnormally high IgG levels, as I later found out they were in the celiac disease test...

    ARCHIVED Yikes!

This was sent out over my local listserv: Gluten-free group assists those with new or old diagnoses By Elizabeth York Photo by Gary Rhodes Odessa American MIDLAND Around lunchtime, more than a dozen people sit at a long table in the screened porch area at Johnny Carino’s restaurant in Midland. A woman pulls out a pan of homemade sliced b...
  9. You get used to it...I've done it for quite some time, now Lordy, here we go again No wonder I had 14 pages to catch up on Mr Benz knows of her she-devil antics, right? LOVE THE BATMAN REFERENCE!!!! Sorry, Karen, hope things get better for you
  10. The bats need to help the overtaxed geese pollenate the fields of uber organic, non auxigroed vegetables. They have hair avoidance radar, and are purple and glittery just to make them prettier GOOD LUCK!!!!!
  11. That's awesome Vincent! You must be so proud!!!!
  12. Spend the five bucks and get a pyrex pie plate, you won't regret it Best of all, it's meant to be washed in the dishwasher, not so much for the metal ones...
  13. I make crustless quiche, I just put the cheese in the bottom of the pie plate instead of the top. Really yummy!!
  14. God, grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and the Wisdom to step away from the bumble bars... ...and the chocolate Are we going to have food anonymous meetings in Rachelville?
  15. Part of the problem is that in some hospitals, the food is outsourced, so a big conglomerate catering operation (such as sodexho) is in control of the foods and their dieticians decide on menus. When my mom was in the hospital getting knee replacements, she was really frustrated because they would feed her a blueberry muffin and orange juice for breakfast...
  16. Do I get a drum kit and laugh track? I forget where, but there's a celiac legend of there being gluten-free big macs in some scandanavian country...Norway maybe? Anyway, yes Virginia, there are gluten-free big macs somewhere in the world I can be assistant florist...I did all of my own wedding flowers and the flowers...
  17. I don't know, what would balance out politics and gluttony?
  18. Is there some reason we can't have a gluten-free KFC? I mean, hell, if gluten-free Big Macs exist in the world, can't the colonel help us out? Has anyone ever notice that the word colonel is made up mostly of the word COLON? Actually, that makes a lot of sense I feel deprived, I only have two jobs And between food and politics, I need another...
  19. I think there's some meat to the idea that he'd lose respect if he didn't say it's the gold standard. And, let's be honest, right now, it is the gold standard. That doesn't mean it's the only way to do things. I don't think we can totally discount all of his AMAZING RESEARCH just because of one sentance. He's done a lot for the celiac community, and we...
  20. Looks like you have! I'm not on the interviewing committee though, so I don't know the requirements Welcome Rachel's friend-but-not-boss, Dave!!

    ARCHIVED Arbys!

I've eaten there and I got sick, but I think it was because of just having all that greasy meat and nothing else, not glutening.
  22. Coca-cola products are gluten-free!
  23. I don't know a thing about masa or auxigro, or whatever....but...um...feel better? And everyone else with unknown ailments...good luck, feel better! Ya know, I don't want any man from high school (or college) to reconnect with me. Of the ones that would, one is gay and I might punch him upon seeing him anyway, one's in the priesthood...
  24. Of course you're welcome, Bev!!! I've read all the pages today, but, I feel lost anyway I'll toast to everyone instead, "may your rough patches turn smooth, may your enemies be scarce, may you know increasing health every day, and may your blanks be blanks" I like toasts with a bit of flexibility, fill in the blanks as you see fit ...
  25. I know that you know that I know that composition is important Anyhoo, I didn't mention it in my previous post since we already covered it higher up in the page... You are completely correct, though! (what is OP, by the way?)
