ARCHIVED Megan's Gagging Isn't Any Better
Fiddle-Faddle replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It's weird, but the first time I ever heard of eosiniphils was 15 years ago when my cat had a sort of blister on his chin that wouldn't go away--they called it "eosiniphilic granuloma ulceration complex," and said he'd have problems with it for the rest of his life, and he'd need lots of steroids, blah blah blah--but he seemed to outgrow it after about ... -
ARCHIVED Are There Any Safe Hot Dog Brands In Canada?
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Carriefaith's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I like Hebrew National! I even like their motto ("We answer to a higher authority...") Only problem for me is that they have sodium nitrite, which is the only thing that has ever given me pimples! -
ARCHIVED Where Do I Start?
Fiddle-Faddle replied to mskelly's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
They must have different scales--the lab that tested me set normal IgG at 0-16 (and mine was 64, and the only obvious symptom I had was a rash)... BTW, welcome to the board, mskelly--lots of knowledgeable, experienced, and intelligent people here. I have learned so much here! -
ARCHIVED Megan's Gagging Isn't Any Better
Fiddle-Faddle replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi, Tanya, The kids and I just came in from watching some neighborhood fireworks that we could see from our yard. We also saw the first star come out,and we all wished on it--for good health for your little Megan... -
ARCHIVED Best gluten-free Baking Flour Mix
Fiddle-Faddle replied to emcmaster's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Leah, I'd love a copy of the florentine recipe--that would be great! Thanks so much. I just checked my grocery store--no Authentic Foods superfine brown rice flour, but I did get the superfine rice flour. Do I just substitute it for the brown rice flour, or should I do half brown rice flour (I have Bob's Red Mill) and half superfine white rice flour?... -

Here is a link explaining EE/EG: Open Original Shared Link They also mention churg/strauss syndrome, which is something that I think Judy and Armetta might be interested in: Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Bread From Scratch
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Sandi*'s topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I just got the Annalise Roberts book, too! I'm planning to make a cake tomorrow for my son't birthday. But someone a while back posted a "celiac soda bread scratch recipe." I'm sorry, I printed the recipe but not the poster's name--whoever posted it, please come forward and take the credit, because it was very good. It was too sweet for me--next time... -
ARCHIVED Megan's Gagging Isn't Any Better
Fiddle-Faddle replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Fish was one of the first foods we gave our babies, especially salmon. Salmon is low on the mercury scale, but I think there may be other contaminants to deal with. Then again, same is true for all foods but organic. Is there organic fish? Anyway, it was easy for them to digest, and high in nutritional value AND fat. I hope Vanderbilt is nicer to little... -

ARCHIVED Challah Bread - Anyone Have A Recipe?
Fiddle-Faddle replied to ArtGirl's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Oh, I miss challah....I wonder if taking a regualr soft white gluten-free bread recipe and adding extra egg or egg yolk and extra xanthum gum, would help add stretchiness, with maybe a little extra corn meal for braiding purposes? -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
If it's not paid time off, I don't think they can legally call it vacation, can they? It's more like forced temporary layoff! You don't belong to a union, by any chance, do you? Seems unfair to the point of not being legal! -
ARCHIVED Sad And Angry
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Byte Me's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ibuprofen gives me diarrhea unless I take it with quite a bit of food, preferably yogurt. And twice this week, I thought I must be getting glutened by something--and both times, within 5-6 hours, someone else in the family had diarrhea, too, so I guess each time it was actually some kind of tummy bug. All the same, I'm getting tired of needing baby-wipes... -
ARCHIVED Book Review: Gluten Free Baking Classics
Fiddle-Faddle replied to angel-jd1's topic in Publications & Publicity
I read that you can make powdered sugar by putting regular sugar in the food processor and whirling it with a couple of spoons of cornstarch. Could we make superfine rice flour the same way--put regular brown rice flour in the food processor and whirl it? I just HATE that AF flours are SO expensive--that in itself leaves a bad taste in mymouth! -
So sorry to hear that you have DH--I know how horrible that is. Any chance there might be "hidden" gluten in your diet? Oatmeal, soy sauce, cereal that used to be gluten-free that isn't now (like corn pops), something like that? The other thing is, did you recently change soap, laundry detergent, fabric softener, or anything like that? I had my DH...

Hi, Joanie, I've been thinking all day--what would I say to you if you were sitting at my kitchen table, sipping a cup of herbal tea (doesn't that sound good?)? (And remembering that I really DON'T know you, or your husband.) So, I'm pretending I woke up and found myself in your situation. This is what I would want to say to Hubby. Actually, me being... -
ARCHIVED Megan's Gagging Isn't Any Better
Fiddle-Faddle replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
FOrgive me for being ignorant here--if the fundo coming undone is the cause of all the gagging and reflux, isn't THAT stressing her heart and keeping her from gaining (burning calories from the energy expended by gagging and choking and losing more calories by barfing them up)? I know you didn't want the funo in the first place, and obviously you were right... -

ARCHIVED Cellulites-has Anyone Had It? Dx Fri Am After High Fevers
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Judyin Philly's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I had something similar to this a year or two ago--just one mild boil, but the doctor took a culture, said (with some surprise) that it was staph, which shocked ME, as I've only had strep throat once in college, otherwise I never got it, even when everyone around me got it). He gave me mupirocin cream, and it cleared up very quickly, but the coloring on... -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Fiddle-Faddle replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Is it something in the air lately? Or is it a full moon? I've been very tired, draggy, and down this week myself--and got the runs yesterday out of nowhere. Grrrr. -
ARCHIVED Hives Angioedema Liver And Celiac
Fiddle-Faddle replied to hiveman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Is there a clear-cut difference between hives and DH? Just wondering. Also, a friend of mine who had hives for months (rather like yours), all over her trunk, trace them to a hair-coloring she was using. Interestingly, she didn't get hives anywhere near her head, but as soon as she switched to a different brand, they went away and never came back -

Hoo boy. I was afraid that he might not be the sensitive type. I'm not sure where to start. Let's see...okay, here goes: We don't care what he thinks of you. WE (on this board) think you are a worthy human being, NOT because of how you look, and not even because you are Amanda's mommy, but because you are YOU. In at least one way (celiac... -
ARCHIVED Preemie Got A Prescript For Formula
Fiddle-Faddle replied to averyannsmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm so sorry to hear that things are difficult for you. Pardon me if I've suggested this to you before (I cna't remember)--how old is your daughter? Is there any possiblity that you might be able to lactate? Even if you could only supply some of her feeds, that would probably help her tolerate formula a whole lot better, not to mention protect her from... -
