  1. Thanks, Andrea! Which book do you have?
  2. I just asked our pediatrician to have Emily titred to see if she doesn't need the DTaP. She is 5, and when she had it at 18 months, she slept for over 24 hours. I remember someone way back pposted something about that being a serious reaction, but I couldn't find it. Anybody have an info on that? My husband had to take her to her appointment as I...
  3. I'm guessing that might be "Eosiniphilic gastroenteritis?" Here is a link, don't know how good it is: Open Original Shared Link.
  4. baking soda and baking powder actually have a less-than-delicious taste--kind of salty and tinny. You could also add vanilla extract, or almond extract and a little bit of chopped nuts or nut butter.
  5. Here's where the insurance companies could actually do something helpful to us that would also save themselves $$, which is all they really care about, anyway. They should refuse to pay for endoscopies if a gluten-free diet turns the symptoms around! Maybe then, the doctors will rethink this ridiculous "gold standard." The only gold involved is what goes...
  6. I'm so sorry this is happening to you. Can you find counseling, either by yourself (good) or with him (much better)? If he has a diagnosis of OCD, would whoever he is seeing agree to see both of you together or reccomend a marriage counselor? It sounds like the sex thing is just the tip of the iceberg, maybe a symptom of poor or nonexistent communication...
  7. I've been thinking of you on and off all day. I'm so glad she's gained (nearly a pound!) and that you're home. Hope everything else from here on is smooth sailing! (But will still keep up the prayers!)
  8. Ms. Roberts emailed me today and, wow, is she being nice! Please read her letter below--and then go out and buy the cookbook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dear Ms. Fujito, Thank you so much for you kind words and encouragement. And thank you for asking me for my permission. That isn't always done, and I appreciate it. I went to the site and - WOW!- it looks...
  9. Tanya, hope you and Megan have another good night, a safe drive tomorrow, and that everything goes smoothly with excellent results! Here's praying for you, kid....with all the fireworks tonight, there are lots of shooting stars to wish on! {{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}} Alison
  10. Sorry, there have been so many recent posts about her new cookbook, I just assumed (wrongly) that everyone knew that she was a cookbook author.
  11. I thought ketchup and pickles were gluten-free?
  12. Just wondering--total shot in the dark here, as I don't know the chemistry involved, but--could fluoridated water somehow INCREASE gerd?
  13. Okay, I went to the first site and printed out all 7 pages and read through them. I would not be at all surprised if what they're saying is true (glutamic acid can cause health problems). BUT--where are the studies they are quoting? Why aren't they cited so we can read them as well? The fact that they don't list the specific studies takes so much from...
  14. Actually, that only works if you have already purchased something through Amazon (I tried, and it wouldn't let me).
  15. Okay--I emailed her asking for her permission to post the recipe. I'll post her answer as soon as it comes! In the meantime, I think everyone should get the book! If her coconut cake is typical of the rest of the recipes, we should never need to buy overpriced, underflavored, dried-out baked goods EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just think--the cookbook...
  16. FANTASTIC!! I was just thinking we should all write letters to the Food Network, and maybe they'd start a gluten-free cooking show, but it lookslike they're ahead of me! I haven't looked up their website yet. What time was this (and in what time zone)? Was this a cooking show or a commercial?
  17. Is that instead of the oil or in addition to it? There is no butter or shorteing listed in the original challah recipe or in the corrected one.????? I also notice in her corrected version she calls for "dough enhancer." Does anybody know what this is and where to find it?
  18. ABSOLUTELY!! An endoscopy is an invasive procedure, and it does carry some risks (wait til you see all the waivers they'll have you sign stating that you have been advised of the risks--which you get to do 10 minutes before the procedure)!!! Just because the doctor doesn't GET IT that making the antibodies is the first stage of celiac doesn't mean that...
  19. Can a filter (like Pur or Brita) remove the fluoride? They do claim to remove chlorine.
  20. Am I allowed to post the recipe here, or would that be breaking copyright rules?
  21. "Pit" fruits (peaches, plums, pears, and apricots) work very well for me--not the juices, because there's so much less fiber in the juices, but the real fruit. Canned works just as well as fresh. Dried doesn't work as well on me, probably because I never remember to drink lots of water with dried fruit. Lotsa leafy greens help, too. Good luck--hope...
  22. As soon as I saw that Nini had answered your post, I figured I wouldn't have to, as her answers are always brilliant. But then I saw your last post. Okay, we need a Smilie with steam coming out of its ears!!!!!!!!!!! doesn't say it all. YOUR DOCTOR SUCKS. FIND ANOTHER ONE. (Sorry if that sounds harsh. )
  23. Hi, Mary Lynne, welcome aboard! I just wanted to let you know I stopped eating gluten about 6 months ago--and only one of my blood tests (the IgG) was elevated. I did not have a biopsy, and, except for a one0time horrible rash (which led to the blood test), I was relatively symptom-free. That is, I thought I was symptom-free until I stopped eating...
