  1. I've never seen it--where do you buy it, and where are they located????
  2. Those both sound fantastic ! One caution: even though we are told that the plastic bags are microwavable, apparently, there are toxins from the plastic that are released into the food when microwaved. "Microwave-safe" means that the microwave won't destroy the plastic. It doesn't mean that the food microwaved in it is safe for human consumption, unfortunately...
  3. Hi, Tanya, just checking in. I hope you have a better night tonight. I'm sorry to ask y ou this, you've probably answered this several pages ago, but I can't find it--is Megan's surgery to close the VSD, or to connect the 2 chambers, or something else? Is the pulmonary atresia the more serious problem? How big is the VSD? Did the VSD change in size...
  4. Whatever you take works a million times better if you chew gum after you take it! (Chewing gum helps some even if you don't have an antacid to take. If you are desperate and have no antacid, try a few spoonfuls of plain white rice and then chew gum. Also, don't lie down, that makes it even worse.)
  5. Hi, Evansmom, welcome aboard! Sounds like you are on the right track even if the doctors are clueless. I found gluten-free gummy vitamins at Costco--hope that helps for starters! Keep us posted--I hope things improve.
  6. Coleman Natural is the only brand I've seen that is nitrite-free. I haven't researched nitrites (Gee, I guess I should--we could add that to the sulfite thread), but nitrite-preserved foods like bacon, smoked turkey, baloney, etc., are the only things that ever gave me pimples--and I see the same reaction now in my 11-year-old son. My mother was clever...
  7. What do you all think? Am I grasping at straws?
  8. Please, PLEASE be careful not to overdo things now that you are better! Take it slowly for starters.
  9. I'm so sorry--you must be feeling really miserable at this point. I'm guessing the D med is Dapsone--google it and you should be able to find all the risks, etc. I think a lot of people on here have taken it for DH with good effect, though. Can you sort of prophylactically counteract the anemia by upping iron intake, esp. consumption of beef,...
  10. Judy, I hope EVERYTHING improves and we see you swimming like a mermaid vey soon! Is there a lymphedema board like this one where the patients know more than the doctors?
  11. Hi, RAchel, sorry I missed your post about your doctor visit til now (serves me right for skimming!). The only thing that occurs to me right off the bat is that your OBGYN is saying it's a gastro issue--but if she couldn't see your ovaries, she really can't rule them out, can she? I mean, what if she's missing something significant because she's distracted...
  12. As an adoptee (and also, many of my friends have adopted), I beg to differ. It IS the same as having your own child. It's just a very different (though still painful) kind of labor!
  13. This is ridiculous--I checked this thread about an hour ago, just came back, and missed like, 3 pages already?
  14. When I was about 8, my brother gave me a glass of something carbonated and said, "Here, have some ginger ale!" It was beer. Bleagh. Never could swallow it down after that!
  15. Tanya, we are honored and blessed to know you! I hope you and Megan have a really, really good night!
  16. Could your stepmom go out-of-town with you during your vacation? Maybe you could have a really nice Gal's Time Out!
  17. tHANKS, aRTgIRL, FOR THE SITE. all the stupid dough enhancers absolutely contain gluten!!!!!!!
  18. I'm probably starting to sound like a broken record (scratched celiac disease?), but Annalise Roberts' cookbook has a recipe for buttermilk biscuits--it's the second-to-last recipe in the book.
  19. Welcome aboard, jsmith! Is your husband allergic to wheat, or does he have celiac disease or gluten into9lerance? It took me a while to figure out there's quite a difference--although in terms of treatment, either way, one stops eating gluten forever. If you haven't already done so, check out the recipe board--I've found lots of winners there!
  20. Yup, that's us! Rainy here today, but we know the starts are there! Rhonda, thanks for your extrememly informative post. My husband is a chemist, and he was trying to look stuff about it last night, and HE finds it confusing, so obviously it'snot a simple issue. Here is what I found on the screen this morning when I got up: Open Original Shared Link...
  21. Aw, c'mon, can't we do fried mozzarella sticks if we "bread" them with Potato Buds instead of bread crumbs?
  22. Haves some Mu Shu Pork w/those pancake tortilla things for me! (Hope you don't get too many tummy problems from this challenge!)
  23. Back then, I didn't know I had a problem with gluten, but I discovered that corn chex stayed down when crackers wouldn't. You could try the gluten-free crunchers instead.
  24. I second the "make your own dressing" idea. Bottled dressings contain all kinds of chemical crap that ou don't need and doesn't taste good, anyway. If you're looking for more flavor, you can add citrus juice, garlic, onion, dill, parsley, etc., and if you hanker after creamy dressings, that gluten-free yogurt will add lots of creaminess, as will buttermilk...
  25. My oldest son was induced 3 weeks early because of failure to thrive in the uterus--he was only 4 1/2 pounds at 37 weeks gestation. He also had cardiac issues. He had what I believe was mild hypotonia. We were able to get OT for him starting when he was 3 untilhe was 6, which made a huge difference. He did ballet and tap (really!) for a year when he was...
