ARCHIVED Last Two Months...what A Roller Coaster!
gfp replied to January Flower's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well the problem is two-fold. This is the first reason, except two distillations are never the same ... especially in a mixed solution with hundreds of consituents and where the presence of one affects the BP of another (called an azeotrope) ... other things like vewry small changes in temp and air presure also affect it... but the effects are rather... -

gfp replied to January Flower's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Unfortunately I have to call BS....(not on you on the "papers') You can't (in a scientific paper just say "current research indicates" you must site the paper, publication and authors... and that paper should contain the original methods and analytic process.... etc. Unfortunately its not uncommon in general but especially in quasi-science like medicine... -
we could be talkiung about 3 different threads (now Im dizzy) ... but I guess that's worse???? I think what I'm trying to say is a lot of threads might get started by people we feel are niaeve ... but something is wrong when the whole board gets sucked in.... If one nasty person hijacked that thread then if we all acted properly (and I know...

Where? show me the testing.... Unfortunatley distillation doesn't work like that... its just the way its taught at undergrad chemistry but in the real world and post doc research it's really nothing like that... The actual chemistry is pretty involved... so an easy way to look at it is.... Size is pretty much immaterial.... alcohol is much bigger... -
ARCHIVED Rant, Friend Problems..
gfp replied to num1habsfan's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
num1habsfan: Its not going to help asking other friends if you were correct... what you need to decide is if she is a true friend? If you decide she is then she is probably insecure right now and being self centered... if she is always like that then she's probably not a true friend... but if she is acting weird she could be depressed or other things... -
Probably but there should be some explanation.... I don't mind if they attacked me and the real thing is they really needed help.... The initial posts were not so understanding, I don't agree with the original poster (obviously) but the responses were a little antagonistic and really as my post pointed out we all have different ideas anyway.... wouldn...

ARCHIVED Anyone Ever Have Their Own Website?
gfp replied to debmidge's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
The insurance can be bypassed by hosting it elsewhere.... (ask a lawyer but if you host it in Europe or somewhere then you're probably fine) the real problem is protecting your idea and from the way you don't seem to want to share it you must have a cracking idea??? The real prob is the patent idea just isn't going to work unless you have a lot of seed money... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Ever Have Their Own Website?
gfp replied to debmidge's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
You can make mock-ups etc. but it really comes down as I said in the pm about what you want to do. If you want it updating frequently or if its static. Do you want users to be able to post or submit content etc. If you are not sure then sitting down with someone is a good idea but they can just be a school kid... unless you do it yourself the process... -
Once again my posts have been deleted without explanation or comment.... just like they were never there??? Meanwhile there is a thread with several rule violations where people are mentioning there own websites. Why are posts deleted or the whole thread so far as I can see in one thread and another has incvreasing rule violations and not a peep...

Yep .. well put... @pyoplasty The thing is if your brother came here himself and presented that we would have no problem believing it... A combination of mis-informed MD's and the way MD's deal with patients makes it all seem believeable... Drinking pop to put on weight sounds a bit stupid... so does advising a diabetic who can control their...

This is going to sound a bit rough but your here because you're worried about your brother so I will just say it straight... Many of us here have problems with families believing us... heck many of us have problems with MD's believing us! As Nantzie recounts we don't advertise our symptoms... I'm going to hazard a guess that your brother is...

ARCHIVED Dr Doesn't Believe Us!
gfp replied to hannahsue01's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'll third that.... The percentiles are meaningless and you shouldn't worry about them, they are based on average growth rate and average groth rate means obese unfortunatlely ...if not in the short term in the long term. Or to put it another way a large proportion of the kids in the upper 50th percentile will be clinically obese and of the rest many... -
ARCHIVED Need Help
gfp replied to confused's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If he does you need to make sure you follow the directions to the letter, its one of the strongest oils so you really don't want too much, it will burn if its not diluted enough in a base oil.. (I'm no expert but my ex was a qualified aromatherapy masseusse) -
ARCHIVED Need Help
gfp replied to confused's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Prunes are greatly under rated... eat loads or most fruit and it will help... However since your having such a rough time can you get yourself an aromatherapy massage... black pepper oil is almost instant. -
Yes, yes, yes etc. the only safe thing is the handles on restrooms since we tend to wash our hands after touching these. You obviously mean well ... no question but I think you misconstrued her worries.... and perhaps (I hope) you are luckier with your family. And your pants, skirt .. children... etc. etc. This is I think the problem...

ARCHIVED Cant Take Vitamins, Newly gluten-free
gfp replied to imagine22's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Well you could but I agree with Ursa, its not ideal. My stomach reacted to almost anything for a while, especially when i was starting off and thought I was gluten-free. 5 years+ down the line and I look back at that I thought was gluten-free with horror. You might want to check the laws to the letter. For instance most of the EU has... -
ARCHIVED De-contaminating Your Kitchen ?'s
gfp replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm really glad it helped.... As for the kids.... yes they have an increased risk BUT as far as inconvenience they also get a new mom... one who is less ill, has more energy and for many of us much more even tempered. Let me put it from a different perspective... the time you spend with your kids (and hubby) only happen once. Four score years is shorter... -

As a one off I would find the worst possible gluten-free muffins or similar .. the ones taste and have a texture worse than the box they come in ... and take them in gratis.... in the box so they can see they are not tampered with etc. Its winter make sure they are as cold as possible... If you did add laxative you could find yourself in very deep...

ARCHIVED De-contaminating Your Kitchen ?'s
gfp replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well, the first step is definately DON'T PANICK! After this its a progressive step... or lots of little steps... but as many have said things become second nature ... The biggest step by far is the descision to go 100% gluten-free... including all risks. Many of us here made niaeve first steps at gluten-free. I certainly did. Equally... -

True but you really have little option when your travelling a lot for work.... ARCHIVED Any Suggestions For Gluten Free Dining In Sydney
gfp replied to amber's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
If you want to take a RISK (I ate 3x and got caught out once) then Malaya is FANTASTIC FOOD .... they say they can do gluten-free but I did get caught out but I'm extremely sensitive! There were 2x pizza places at (Hugo's kinda celeb place) and another just opposite at Kings Cross .... Overall it was a little difficult, the australian idea of gluten...
