  1. Well, I've had my hands full with medical problems the past few days. Dr. told me to increase my Dapsone to 200 Mg. because the rash was worsening (although different). Last time I did that I got a horrific and DIFFERENT type of rash (hive-like) in places that I had not gotten rash before. My 2 skin biopsies came back negative for IgA but showed large...
  2. I have "semi-dx'd" DH. It looks like a DH rash. It responds to Dapsone. Neg. Bloodwork (3 months mostly gluten-free at time of test), biopsy done (possibly wrong site) and results will be available on Thurs. Ordered Enterolab test last night. I have the "DH" rash EVERYWHERE except face, scalp, and bottom of feet. My Dr. (allergist who says he has...
  3. Before the Dr's here decided I had DH (no pos. dx yet though), I went to Germany/Netherlands/UK/Belgium/France several times for 2 weeks each time, and came home SYMPTOM FREE! I would tell the Dr. - "I have no rash in Germany!!!!!!!!!!!" And they thought that it most be my cats or my carpets or something in my house!!! Anyway, to confirm my suspicions,...
  4. United Airlines offers Gluten Free on overseas flights and in premium class. On shorter than 5 hr flights you have to be in Business/First to get one though. The food-for-sale in economy on other flights is full of Gluten and not "substitutable" at all. On long flights over 8 hours, I haven't been on one yet, since gluten-free. But I suspect they...
  5. After I saw the post with the Walmart labeling policy, my husband and I went to a Walmart Supercenter here in Fredericksburg VA. We spent about 2 hours reading labels to try to find the elusive "gluten free" labels on their "Great Value" items. After all that time, we found about 3 - 5 items labeled Gluten Free - a jar of PICKLES (gluten-free anyway)...
  6. I can't find the original either: I'll list the ONE symptom I have and what led me to go to Dr's and do research: EXTREME Rash (bullous) with clear/minimal bloody fluid. Easily excoriated, crusting, continuing to itch until about the 4th scab scratched off. Mostly bilateral. Areas I have had rash: Major amount of rash - forearms, front of lower...
  7. To RADMAN: We have a couple of things in common: I live in Fredericksburg VA too! I, too, am currently on a path of self-diagnosis (for DH presentation). And I come from a medical family - many many many doctors in my family. So, I did my research at a Medical Library and took it to my Dr who went along with me until the bloodwork (3 tests) were negative...
  8. Just me adding info: The blood work was negative for all 3 things (all DH/Celiac related). Biopsy results not back yet. I was MOSTLY gluten-free except for a 6 day trip to Hawaii, 3 weeks prior to biopsy. Do you think the neg bloodwork was neg because of that? Also will the biopsy be a "good" one while taking Dapsone and trying to be gluten-free...
  9. Most, if not all pure meat bacon. I wouldn't trust any of the fake or combo bacons. But my COSTCO-bought Kirkland brand Microwave bacon only has pork, salt and sugars in it. Unless one has a sensitivity to Iodine (in the salt) - which is the case for many DH people.
  10. I just came from the Super Market - Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA, Giant Foods. The TRIX (a different looking box than the "reduced sugar" one that was photographed here). It does not have Wheat Starch or Malt Flavoring. But it DOES have whole grain oats - which do not seem to bother me. I also checked others by General Mills (Coco Puffs, Lucky Charms...
  11. The Trix has "Wheat Starch" - Doesn't that have Gluten? The Coco Puffs indeed look to be Gluten Free - EXCEPT for the Cross Contamination issue - but I, personally, am not that concerned about that. I GOTTA EAT SOMETHING!!!! (I eat Capt Crunch which has no inherent gluten, but Quaker says could have cross contamination issues).
  12. How do you get an "Enterolab" test? Is it a home test? What is there web address or phone #? I just got my bloodwork back - negative all 3 (all IgG related) - Dr. says all negative. I am suspected of DH form of Celiac. But I had been gluten-free since December and taking Dapsone. Dr. says bloodwork so sensitive that shouldn't matter. But still have...
  13. Yes, I have the same thing. I have had it for as long as I've had my terrible "DH-like" rash. And it got WORSE when I started taking Dapsone. I now am getting a rash-reaction to the Dapsone and the crotch problem is much worse too. I have used creams, steroids, anti-fungals, neosporin, yeast creams, all to no avail. I suspect it is DH and Dapsone...
  14. I have DH. Tonight I looked at the ingredients of CAPT CRUNCH Cereal (Quaker Co.). It USED to have Malt Flavoring, so it was probably not gluten-free. I looked at a newer box tonight at the Giant Foods here in Fredericksburg, VA and it has the following ingredients: "Corn Flour, Sugar, Oat Flour, brown sugar, coconut oil, salt, niacinamide, yellow 5...
  15. I just started 200 Mg of Dapsone per day. Previous 100 Mg worked for a while and then stopped when I had a Gluten-FEST. Now, after 3 days of the 200 Mg, I have a different kind of rash in a couple of places (underarms, crotch, wrist and middle of shoulder blade on one side), also itchy but not blisters that break easily, just little white bumps under skin...
  16. I'm 54 years old. About 5 years ago I was getting gas and bloat and either constipated or going to0 much. I read a book about IBS and it said FIBER FIBER FIBER, WHOLE GRAIN WHOLE GRAN WHOLE GRAIN. So I probably increased my whole wheat intake by about 10 times! The gas/bloat went away! Then, About 4 years ago started getting a rash, which gradually increased...
