  1. And that's the one I ate! I have a few DH blisters and I couldn't figure out why..... I also ate a whole thing of Mentos mints - I was in a hurry for a breath mint for a meeting, couldn't find TIC TAC's at the CVS I was at, and grabbed Mentos - not thinking - I read the label and LOW AND BEHOLD the 2nd ingredient is "WHEAT GLUCOSE SYRUP"!!!!!!!!!...
  2. We don't have Whole Foods here where I live, but I have discovered that Rotisserie Chickens are something you MUST read labels on. I was buying COSTCO's chickens that are Gluten Free and I never had a problem with. So my husband must have thought all Rotisserie chickens were ok because he brought home one which I assumed was from COSTCO, but it was from...
  3. I eat them (and other flavors too) all the time and never had a problem. The chips themselves (inherently, as as cooked) ARE gluten free, but have the legal mumbo jumbo to cover them "in case" of CC which is possible....basically I believe that almost ALL foods available to the general public that aren't made specifically to be gluten-free, are usually at...
  4. I emailed Dole asking just that question. I have not heard back yet. I will post it when I do. The ingredients include "Modified Food Starch" which is GENERALLY made form Corn or Maize in US, but it CAN be from Barley. So, I've emailed. I ate one before I noticed it - it was good. No reaction, but I won't eat another until I hear back.
  5. On their link to "Wheat Sensitive?" they put this: Note: We advise those with Celiac disease not to consider our current product line. Wheat sensitive and Celiac are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT beasts. No one that has Celiac should try "SPROUTED WHEAT" - it has enough gluten to make us really sick (or itchy) but some "wheat sensitive" folks may be able...
  6. You may be right about their products other than self-basting whole turkeys. However, that's the only Butterball product I've ever seen on the shelves! Last Christmas my sis-in-law was cooking for the family dinner (in Reno NV, I live in Virginia), and we went to the store to look at turkeys. My husband and I had just been thru this drill at Thanksgiving...
  7. ALL Butterball products have wheat/gluten in them. The "self-basting" stuff that's injected has flour in it. The candies mentioned really are gluten-free, but ANY candy can have CC (but probably rare). I have DH and I don't react to the any of the candies mentioned. I don't get digestive symptoms from any foods and don't have damage to villi...
  8. Maybe you needed to continue to take the pills until the sandwich had a chance to completely vacate (like the next morning too). What are the ingredients of these pills and what state did you get them in (assume USA?).
  9. I eat ALL of the candies you mention with no problems EVER. You must be sensitive to another ingredient. (SOY?) There's also lactose intolerance, which is different than cassein sensitivity. And there's also sensitivity to choclolate, in and of itself (cocoa beans). If you don't react to Lindt or Hershey's WHITE chocolate then maybe that's the...
  10. I eat Butterfingers all the time (all sizes and shapes) and I've never had a problem. All the gluten-free lists that I have say it's gluten-free. Nestle says it's gluten-free. Hmmm. Maybe you are sensitive to something else contained in it?
  11. I use it and don't get a reaction. It is not listed in the Clan Thompson Smart Drug List (doesn't mean anything). Advil IS gluten-free. So is Kirkland brand and Berkley & Jensen (Costco and BJ's respectively).
  12. I always read the whole ingredients list, not just the allergen list (the 8 allergens, wheat is one, but not barley, rye, oats). If it says "modified FOOD starch" I don't buy unless I can contact company or go to web site and see if it's made from something other than wheat (e.g. corn or maize). If it SAYS GLUTEN FREE I basically believe them. I...
  13. My guess is that you have been getting Gluten from hidden sources.... I KNOW I KNOW!!! I had the same problem. After 3 months of gluten-free I was still reacting (I have DH) with rash. I was told by everyone, "you are eating things with hidden gluten" and I didn't believe them and just kept thinking what else I was "allergic" to! Then one day...
  14. The following is the list from Clan Thompson Safe Food Database. Shopping List from Celiac Food SmartList ©2006 Clan Thompson LLC 365 Organic Every Day Value Popcorn (cheddar - lightly salted - Angel Fluffs White Cheddar) gluten-free Y Veg U Act II Butter Lover's Microwave Popcorn 3/3.5 oz. 15. BY LAW it is NOT made from Wheat Barley or Rye in the US (I think it's from corn/maize). If "made in US" it is safe.
  16. My Kitty (pictured here and one of 3 in the house) eats very little meat. She will eat tuna in water. We call her the "lettuce cat" because she eats lettuce like it was kittly chocolate. Acutally it's not lettuce, it's "Nappa Cabbage"........she thrives on that and melon (!). (prefers cantaloupe, but also likes honeydew and watermelon). I've asked the...
  17. The Clan Thompson Drug List says: Darvocet is "UNKNOWN" because suppliers change all the time. Qualitest is a mfg listed, but not this drug. SO, I would tell pharmacist that they MUST find out for you. Good luck. I am Jewish, not practicing much, live in Virginia. Don't keep Kosher have enough problems with gluten-free, let alone trying...
  18. Brown Rice is RICE, not wheat. There is no wheat in brown rice. Wild Rice has been the subject of lots of gluten rumors, even though it isn't really rice, is isn't wheat or barley either. Both are inherently gluten free substances. The only plants on earth that contain gluten are wheat, barley and rye. Oats are subject to cross contamination...
  19. Clan Thompson has 3 Musketeers as gluten-free - and I eat them all the time. Clan Thompson agrees with you about the Milky Way (only the "Midnight" is gluten-free).
  20. According to Clan Thompson's Smart Food List - all varieties of Pace Salsa are gluten-free! - They say all sizes and all varieties. Also the Enchilada sauce and Picante are also gluten-free.
  21. I actually had SEVERE (VERY VERY SEVERE) DH for 3.5 years prior to my own diagnosis (by research). My Allergist was excellent with me and supported me with my research and diagnosis. I'm supposed to go for an endoscopy on Wednesday, but I'm going to cancel. I've read in too many places that all these tests will show normal after you've been gluten-free...
  22. My research, as well as my Dr's, has found that DH sufferers only need avoid iodine until after they have become gluten-free long enough to have controlled the DH outbreaks (and that can take a long time for some - 6 months for me). After the skin rash has subsided most people tolerate iodine as if normal. Most dietary iodine is found in the SALT contained...
  23. There certainly are LOTS of canned foods that are OK. There are also lots that aren't. I searched for Van Camps P&B and found the ConAgra home page where no nutrition is listed for ANY of their hundreds of foods. They are also not in the Clan Thompson Data Base. You can email them from their homepage Open Original Shared Link and ask about...
  24. Open Original Shared Link has the best bread and pound cakes I know of. They also have regular cakes too! They aren't as expensive as other places either. I LOVE their bread.
  25. According to the Clan Thompson Smart Drug List Zithromax made by Pfizer is gluten-free.
