  1. I have a horrible time with not being able to choose the restaurants I eat in - especially when it's a retirement or going-away party. They LOVE Chinese buffet places and I don't trust anything there except the water and some of the fruit. Lately I've been traveling a lot and have had to try to eat in the following restaurants with limited success. I...
  2. I went to a Denny's three times in the last several weeks (driving trip for work with others who prefer to eat where they like it and I have to veto or accept). They showed me a binder with nutritional info for all their foods. The selection isn't HUGE but you can get a decent meal a la carte there. I have been to about 15 different restaurants in...
  3. I had ONLY DH and long before I was dx. I had gotten so bad my whole body was covered and the itch was so bad I had to take high doses of Advil (which stopped the itching). I then took Dapsone, which worked, and my rash disappeared after about 2 months. But then I reacted to the Dapsone with very bad rash and liver trouble and was very sick. So I stopped...
  4. I too fell off the wagon at first. Last March in Hawaii on a trip. I paid for it dearly. I still have problems with traveling and eating at restaurants. It's bad enough that you get "gluten'd" inadvertently, and that happens often enough to keep me on the wagon all the time. I get severe DH anywhere and everywhere. And the inside of my ears itch terribly...
  5. I made "Bread by Anna" in my bread machine which came out ok - crust was a little too hard/brown. So, I tried Pamela's Bread Mix today. Used medium setting for crust instead of dark. The bread was a bit undercooked and a little too soft (not quite "doughy" in the center, but still almost inedible. Can I rebake it? How do you know what setting to use...
  6. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups!
  7. Some meats give me gas and cramps just plain. Not gluten related. As for hotdogs: Hebrew National is THE BEST. They are all beef and don't have a lot of chemicals and many people on this forum who are very sensitive to "whatever" have said they do fine with Hebrew National. I would try them! They taste great too.
  8. At Walmart Super-Centers they have a gluten-free Cheescake single serving in a small box, made by "Missy's" - it is labeled Gluten Free! What it really is, is just regular cheesecake filling without any crust. It is delicious and exactly what you are looking for. They also have a "sugar free" version which my husband (diabetic) says tastes "so-so".......
  9. Yes, I hate it when people come in sick too. My boss came in last week with a wicked cold. Now I have it - but not too too bad. I have to fly to Florida tomorrow. I postponed flying today til them because I hate to spread colds, they just come back at me later! I'm only taking sudaphed and that "mucinex" stuff. That is helping enough to make me feel...
  10. I read the ingredients online. It includes STARCH of unknown origin. Therefore, because it is a Canadian product, you have to assume that it could be BARLEY or WHEAT - even though it could be corn. I would not assume that the product is gluten-free because of this. (It probably is NOT). This is marketed under a different name in US. Bur I can't...
  11. I asked Progresso via Email about their soups (they are Betty Crocker). Here's the response I got. Pretty good, means we should be able to trust their labeling! Thank you for contacting Progresso regarding gluten in our Progresso soup. It is our goal to help our consumers determine whether or not they can include our products in their diet...
  12. I have drank (drUnk?)(HAD) them with no problem. I have read the ingredients on the label and they seemed ok, so I tried them. When I had no problems I continued drinking. I really only drink them when I'm in an airport or once in a while at work from the snack/drink room. I have emailed them about all their beverage products because their website says...
  13. The Knorr website's FAQ's has a statement that says they will disclose any ingredient that includes Gluten. Open Original Shared Link They are part of Unilever. I'm not sure if Unilever is one of the trusted companies or not. Someone else on this forum may know.
  14. Of interest: Open Original Shared Link
  15. I know Thanksgiving is over now. But thought that it is important for everyone to know that there are two versions of Trader Joes: the East Coast and the West Coast stores. They even have different web pages and are not managed by the same distributer, so they have different things and they do not look alike either. The West Coast version is the one...
  16. Hebrew National are definitely the best, totally gluten-free, natural, free of CC, and the best tasting to boot. I got the Sabrett at Costco because they were so much cheaper and I was taking some to a cookout, so I'd know they had some I could eat. But Hebrew National are definitely worth every extra penny. Don't switch if you don't have to.
  17. Some Progresso Soups are gluten-free too! I just looked at "New England Clam Chowder" (which is a cream soup) and it is gluten-free.....suprising to me. I'm saying that by the ingredients list and by the allergen statement, not by any statement of gluten-free on label. So maybe their Cream of Chicken is too, but I don't have one of those to look at it...
  18. According to Clan Thompson Food Smart List all the products you mention (and many more) are gluten-free. Tone is the same product as Durkee. Apparently Tone is sold in (Canada?) or other parts of the US than Durkee. But same product.
  19. The "over 7.5% of AGI" makes it impossible for me to deduct anything at all for medical. But if that isn't a barrier......then Your Dr. probably has to "prescribe" gluten-free items - probably itemized. Those foods have to be NECESSARY for your health. Probably none are. My accountant told me that it can't really be done because of that. Sugar...
  20. They are "nominally" (by ingredients) gluten-free. But apparently there have been some Cross Contamination issues noted by several on this board recently. I had a problem when I started eating them almost daily at work. I think it may depend on the batch - which makes them a crap-shoot! So, I have eliminated them, regrettably - especially since they...
  21. Sabrett are also gluten-free.
  22. I have yet to find any Cheerio's or CAPT Crunch or Rice Krispies, or Corn Flakes substitue that I can tolerate. Don't know what's wrong with them, but they are awful. I've tried lots of substitutes and no joy. So, I no longer eat cereal except for CAPT Crunch once in a great while (a bowl once in a while doesn't bother me, but everyday does). Lucky...
  23. I have yet to find a true and pure "JUICE" (of any kind: Cranberry, Apple, Orange, tomato, grape) that DOES contain gluten!! Mixes of juice/other stuff (like V8 Splash, etc are more risky, but label-reading usually works ok for those). V8 is also gluten free!
  24. I take the Multi-Vitamins (Nature's Resource?) from Costco. The one I have now is the Plus 50 (years old!) and has no iron. Iron constipates me. I also take Vitamin Shoppe Multi's. Many of Vitamin Shoppe products (their own brand) say free from all kinds of things like yeast, gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, starch etc. I haven't had a CC problem with...
  25. Great Value yogurts are probably not gluten-free (according to Walmart) because they have modified food starch which COULD be from Wheat or Barley. They claim that when it is gluten-free they mark it and in that case it would also say modified CORN or TAPIOCA starch. Many many yogurts that are Low Fat have food starch that COULD be from barley/wheat...
