ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Green12 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thanks Sherry. Were they concerned with the numbers just slightly out of range? It might have been me talking about Chinese herbs, I have done acupuncture for years and have taken herbs frequently. I think you have to be careful about what you get in China, at least that is what my first acupuncturist told me (I don't know if anything is... -
ARCHIVED Need Help Finding Easy/tasty gluten-free Bread Mix!
Green12 replied to Miriam3's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi Sarah, I think we posted at the same time It should be the same mix, I'm pretty sure Pamela's only has one bread mix called Amazing Wheat Free Bread Mix. Miriam, just to add- there are directions on the package for breadmaker as well as mixing it by hand. Also, Pamela's doesn't use bean flours. The yeast packet is inside the package... -
ARCHIVED Need Help Finding Easy/tasty gluten-free Bread Mix!
Green12 replied to Miriam3's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have had good luck with Pamelas Amazing Bread Mix, I've made cinnamon rolls several times with this mix and they've turned out great everytime. I don't use a bread maker either, I prepared the dough with my hand mixer and the dough hook attachments. The dough is a little sticky to work with but I just have extra plain rice flour on hand to flour the... -

Kassandra, what are you making on your raw food diet? Sounds interesting. Carla, sorry you aren't feeling so well after your trip. I'm glad you had a great time away. Take good care of yourself, like I know you will, and you'll be back to feeling good like you were before Sherry, can I ask how high your liver enzymes were elevated? ... -

TS, I can understand the mixed emotions you have. Lyme sounds really scary, but the good news is you know what you are dealing with finally, all the puzzle pieces have come into place, and you can now start working on getting better! Carla, that was well said. (When did you get back?! How was it?!) rinne, October was breat cancer... -

OMG is so quiet........ Chemicals bother me for the most part, but sometimes I am not affected as much as other times. I don't know why that is. I use mineral make-up too. At first it bothered me, and then I stopped using it for several months and then I tried it again and I was fine I try to keep scented things... -

ARCHIVED My Cupcakes Were A Disaster.......potential Projectiles.......

So sorry Susie about the muffin mishap. I haven't graduated to baking gluten-free from scratch, I take the easy way out and use a mix I like the Namaste Muffin Mix, and agree with Patti the gluten-free Pantry Mixes are awesome. For chocolate cupcakes I've had lots of luck with Pamela's Chocolate Cake mix (using muffin tins), you can not tell... -

ARCHIVED gluten-free/cf Thanksgiving
Green12 replied to missy'smom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I haven't tried a crust without the butter, that was the only thing on my menu I didn't do cf. I am going to do some test runs with that Spectrum spread and then safflower oil and see how they come out. Has it been verified that ghee is for certain cf?? If so I imagine ghee would work perfectly in a crust. My green bean marinade/vinaigrette... -
ARCHIVED Enjoy Life
Green12 replied to NorthernElf's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I wish there was something we could do about our "special" products being so expensive... Enjoy Life products aren't my favorite, but in a pinch it is nice to be able to buy a box of soft baked cookies that are safe, so I agree with others on that point. Omgosh rinne! 50 lbs of chocolate That's a lot of chocolate to share... -
ARCHIVED Erewhon Cereal?
Green12 replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I keep the Brown Rice Cream Cereal (cream of rice hot cereal) on hand and eat it occasionally. I like the Crispy Brown Rice Cereal, they make a gluten-free and just an original version so you have to make sure you get the one marked "gluten-free". This works great in recipes that call for Rice Krispies or other crisp rice cereals. I agree the Twice... -

ARCHIVED A Grain-free Diet
Green12 replied to Mango04's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Mango, I did not do well cutting out all starches, and I ate that way for quite a long time. While it helped with a lot of things, it really caused a lot of problems for me too, and most importantly it wasn't anything I could stick with as a lifestyle change. But on the other side of the coin, I have heard of people doing well eating starch free... -

Yes Donna the girls have reached SUPER MODEL status!! They are in high demand, gracing the pages of eBay hawking such fine goods. I am in talks with Annie to use her for my auctions, she would be fabulous, her little paw held up demurely, batting her eyelashes just so. -

ARCHIVED gluten-free/cf Thanksgiving
Green12 replied to missy'smom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
It's a big adjustment to have a gluten-free Thanksgiving menu, once you get it down it becomes routine and no big deal, but adding in another thing to eliminate like casein makes it really challenging to modify all those traditional favorites....it can be done, I've done it for several years now and it's as yummy as ever, you don't have to miss out! A... -
Something to do with bananas asap without flour is a carmelized-like sauteed banana topping/sauce. Slice the bananas and throw in a skillet with a little butter and brown sugar and sautee until the butter and brown sugar melt and form a sauce, the sauce will thicken a little bit. Use for a topping on ice cream, pancakes, hot cream of rice cereal,...
