  1. I did the blood type diet, Eat Right for Your Blood Type, I think is what one of the books is called. It's based on the theory that certain foods are good/bad for the different blood types. I am an A+ and if I remember correctly A's are supposed to do really well with a vegetarian diet, while O's can be naturally carnivores. It didn't do a thing for...
  2. This is great! Thanks for the link Mango
  3. I know, I know, it's weird. It's like I feel if I used the posters real name rather than the nickname then I am crossing that line of respect or something, like the horror of using an adult's first name instead of Mr. or Mrs when I was little, it's something that is ingrained in me I guess. Of course with Rachel and Andrea it's cool because their names...
  4. Andrea, I intentionally ate wheat I haven't officially been diagnosed with celiac, I was only going by how eating wheat/gluten made me feel and I have always felt better not eating it. But recently I started getting really sick, as sick as I would be if I were eating wheat or gluten, so I started to question if gluten was really an issue or if food in...
  5. I don't know about the levels, but I eat beef and beets for an iron kick.
  6. Everything here sounds really good, yum. Even something as simple as a pot roast or a stew would be great too. They both use rice, Risotto is a creamy rice dish, Italian in origin. Paella is not usually creamy (at least I don't think it traditionally is?) and it is Spanish in origin. Paella also is sort of a "everything but the...
  7. You aren't going on and on about this, this is what this place is for, questions! I just use plain old filtered water. I don't really know anything about these new sports waters and drinks. Maybe you could ask Robb Wolf down in the Sports and Fitness category, he might have some information regarding their hydration qualities? Sorry I can't be of any...
  8. I'm glad you mentioned this. I need to clarify I was not necessarily talking about drinking more water to keep hydrated (the normal amount is sufficient), but just looking at other things in the diet that are dehydrating for the body.
  9. jersey (I would feel weird calling you Patti, it's like the formal respect thing. I still call all my parent's friends Mr. and Mrs. so and so even though I am an adult now ) Anywho, you are my peeps! I'm doing average, I still am recovering from all the gluten I ate last month. I think it will take some time but I am hanging in there...
  10. In defense of what daxin is saying I agree that constipation and dehydration go hand and hand. Even if one is drinking lots and lots of water your system can still suffer from chronic dehydration. It wasn't until I took out fiber supplementation like psyllium seed, and ground flax seeds and all the different herbs with laxative qualities and teas (which...
  11. Hi My peeps! It's like you all came out of the shadows at once! Andrea, thanks for the update. Happy 7 months old day to Seth, wish I could eat the cereal with him I too hope all goes well with your hubby. dlp, so sorry you fell and what is up with your foot? I'm glad you are going in to get it checked out. Hope it heals quickly. Rachel...
  12. Interesting, this is what I found about "food glaze": "Pharmaceutical glaze is an alcohol based solution of various types of Food Grade Shellac. It is also known as confectioners glaze, resinous glaze, pure food glaze and natural glaze. Since the primary ingredient carries a negative connotation, these are euphemismistically derived phrases to what is...
  13. I have suffered my whole life with C, until recently. Now I am as regular as regular can be. What worked for me was Magnesium supplementation like others have suggested. I used magnesium citrate caps from the brand "Now", found at my local health food store. I usually just took one at lunch and one at dinner and one before I went to bed. You should...
  14. I'm very jealous Chelse, I would love to start a Le Creuset collection. I have an All-Clad collection going and that just about breaks the bank I can live through you vicariously Some of your ingredients I would think would make Paella too, that's what came to mind anyway when I started reading your list with the rice and the smoked sausage and...
  15. That's not a bad idea Fiddle Faddle, I used to eat PB&J on pancakes for sandwiches when I was younger and they were the best sandwiches! I would think you would definitely have to use the waxed paper to seperate them individually in the freezer or you would just have one big large stack of pancake that would never come apart I like Pamela...
  16. abbiekir, I love those Alexia Fries. So sorry they made you sick All of the varieties have different ingredients (i.e. dextrose, maltodextrin, autolyzed yeast extract, some even have dairy which may be an issue). I try to stick with the Yukon Gold Julienne variety because they have the least added ingredients: Yukon Gold Potatoes, Canola Oil...
  17. Rachel, I had posted about questioning the salt and Abbie jumped on too. While I definitely think sulphites/sulfites are an issue I seem to also have the mouth blisters and sores from things that have that salty coating. What is desicated?
  18. Rachel, good luck with it. When do you start? You will keep us updated, right? Where is everyone, is our thread coming to an end
  19. I have been researching corn allergies, citric acid is on the very long list of ingredients to avoid. Almost all commercially made citric acid is now derived from corn because it's cheap. At the Avoiding Corn Forum there is a relatively new thread talking about this topic: Open Original Shared Link scroll down a little ways on the left side menu and...
  20. Citric acid is corn derived I agree with lorka it's really easy to make your own sauce, then you know exactly what is going into it. I usually just saute some onion and garlic in a little olive oil, tear up some fresh (peeled) tomatoes and throw them into the pan, a little fresh basil and simmer until it gets saucy.
  21. I just noticed this about the sulfites. I've been trying to figure out what all I have eaten when I get mouth blisters/sores, and macaroons are a big one for me- maybe it's the sulfites in the coconut? Also Lara Bars. And some brands of crackers and chips, I am thinking maybe it's the salt?
  22. Rice Twice sends me over the edge Floridian. It has rice syrup and honey, and then there is the issue of what you put on it (milk or milk alternatives), so for me it is a sugar thing. Of course it could be an issue of cc, not sure what your symptoms are? Sorry you are not feeling well
  23. Berneses, I don't understand really the test results, but maybe it is promising some things were in range and just the estrogen needs to be tinkered with? I'm excited for you that you have been referred to a reproductive endocrinologist, I feel very hopeful that she/he will help you Please keep us posted!
  24. I've never heard of this. You have had so much to deal with, the surgery, your exams, etc. You've been under a lot of stress and your immune system has taken a beating as a result, it was a prime time for an infection to take up residence and settle in. Take real good care of yourself during this time and get as much rest as possible. I...
