  1. Fiddle Faddle you are making me hungry for coconut cake That sounds really good, congratulations on it turning out so well for you!
  2. I have a recipe for a fruit dip I was going to make the family for the 4th that has jell-o instant pudding as one of the ingredients. I did a search to see if it was gluten-free and all of the celiac websites list jell-o instant pudding as a main item to avoid. I am confused because I thought Kraft was really good at labeling main allergens on their products...
  3. Hi Karen, I agree what the other posters suggested. I just wanted to add that when your daughter does get to feeling a little better it might be a good idea for her to connect with other's her own age (or even just celiacs of all ages) that are living a gluten-free lifestyle to get information and support. There is a teenager category here on the board...
  4. Pineapple is rich with the enzyme bromelain. Some fun facts about bromelian: Pineapple enzyme which is primarily used to assist digestion of protein and fight inflammatory disorders, plus has some antiparasitic action. Great for most arthritis, gout, and allergy problems, whose symptoms may be worsened by undigested proteins, since helps digest them...
  5. Ghee is on the list of things to avoid when going dairy free

Thanks so much for this information Leah, I will check it out
  7. dlp, I love cropped pants/capris too. I also wear them all the time. Sounds like you did good on your shopping spree. I tried ProActive several years ago and it definitely took care of the breakouts, I only used it for a very short time but like Patti said, it does its job. And 4 days in vegas?? How exciting, have lots of fun! I'm a flip...
  8. rinne, I have had a similar "awakening" I guess you could call it. I didn't intentionally harm my body over the years, I just was not connected to it, or grounded in it, in order to notice or hear the signs/signals and messages it was sending me. I think this is a necessary part of healing, having that connection and being in tune with body, mind,...
  9. Rachel I'm so sorry you have been so sick, I thought you were doing so well I went to the farmer's market this morning and got some beautiful zucchini and yelow crookneck squash, gearing up for a bbq on the 4th. Does everybody have special plans for the holiday weekend?? Happy 4th to everyone
  10. Hi Julie Jules I can never forget your nickname "imsohungry", I can so relate Thanks for your reply, this is really helpful! And thanks for sharing your experience. You've given me a great place to get started, I will check into everything you suggested and for sure keep asking questions!

    ARCHIVED Yoga

queenofhearts, I really like my yoga as is too. I feel it is challenging enough without adding weights into the mix. I basically do yoga about 10 days on and 1 day off and walk 3-4 times a week. I want to add in pilates and thought about maybe doing some weights a couple times a week as well. But we'll see, I'll start with the pilates and see how...
  12. Yeah, slimy is a perfect word to describe it Can you break the kids in with hamburgers, ground turkey patties or beef (or anything really, lamb, buffalo, etc.)? Just an idea.
  13. Andrea, I have seen the Applegate packaged slices before, I think I might have even tried it before a long time ago. I don't like the packages stuff as well as the stuff you get sliced in the deli or the real thing. I guess I am picky when it comes to that.
  14. Lister, when going through the process of healing things often get worse before getting better. I'm glad you made it through some of the roughest patches. Just keep plugging away, taking it one day at a time, and everything will fall into place for you
  15. I have tried several times a hot cereal by Erewhon. It's called Brown Rice Cream and it's gluten-free. The only ingredient is Organic Brown Rice. It isn't the "oatmeal" that you are looking for, it's more like cream of wheat.

This is what I was thinking too, that they need to be seperate, but the Core Power yoga folks here in my state hold a practice with weights often and it seems like a lot of other main stream gyms around here are incorporating weights into their yoga classes as well. So, I was just wondering if it's the "new" thing or what.
  17. Thanks debmidge for your perspective And thanks kbtoyssni for the info about the Oscar Meyer Meats
  18. Hi wozzy, a warm welcome to the board I don't really have a specific encounter to share, mainly what I experience is most people not knowing what gluten even is. Bully4You, an epi-pen administers a dose of epinephrine when an anaphylactic allergic reaction occurs. So the story is even that much more funny now that you know this, that the lady...
  19. I personally haven't tried anything from Bob, but there have been several threads I noticed about concerns with cc and his products. I think the results have been a mixed bag, some react and some have no problems.
  20. Can you find Applegate Farms in Canada? I don't know if they are just in the U.S. but they are definitely gluten-free. They come in turkey or chicken that I know of for sure and maybe beef. Also Wellshire Farms, I believe they have beef, chicken, and turkey hotdogs to choose from (but not totally positive) and they always label their allergen info. ...

Anybody have any opinions on the yoga sessions that incorporate weights throughout???
  22. I would also be interested in hearing from mothers, or parents, who are raising a dairy free child, and what resources there might be out there for information regarding this. Andrea, The only thing I can think of is Rice products to substitute for the ice cream and the milk.
  23. Thanks Alexandra, very informative post. So if I knew that I might possibly have a condition that is hereditary, and that I am concerned about it, I need to consult a genetics counselor before ttc? Are they affiliated with Ob/gyn doctors, or a totally different branch? If you can't tell I have lots of questions and not sure of really what to make of...
  24. I also have a problem with peanut butter darn it that it's so good. Another angle outside of what Patti (jerseyangel) and Andrea mentioned is the mold content of peanuts. If you are allergic/sensitive to molds then peanut butter can be a problem.
  25. I love this saying rinne. I just started going back to accupuncture this last week, after a 2 year hiatus and I am excited about it. I really appreciate and respect the approach and philosophy of Eastern Medicine when it comes to the body and disease.
