  1. Hi Rachel- I have been doing some type of elimination diet the last 10-12 years or so. Seriously staying away from my main "big" offenders has been about the last 6 years, but not 100% of the time, I will have an occassional indulgence. I have been really strict about the wheat/gluten the last 2 years. I am starting on the road to being really strict with...
  2. I have personally had multiple sessions of chelation. I can't really speak from a medical, or professional, standpoint because I just don't have that information, but as someone who has experienced it- for me personally it was hard on my body. I was the youngest person in the room every time, at 29-30 years of age at the time. Most everyone there was ...
  3. Curious if anyone has also tried Slippery Elm powder? It is similar to aloe vera juice in that it sooths as well as heals the lining of the esophagus and entire digestive tract. I make a greul out of it, recipe can be googled. It seems to really make a difference.
  4. megzmc3611 and lonewolf- It's good to know I am not alone and that we share love for these tortillas! Usually when I find something I like and make it a keeper they take it off the market because it doesn't sell well. Let's keep the love going strong! Yay for our Food For Life Rice Tortillas!!
  5. I have gone without dairy off and on for the last 10 or 12 years. In my experiences dairy is the hardest thing to stay away from. Dairy makes everything taste so much better! The dairy substitutes IMO are horrible and just don't even come close to the real thing, so it's challenging. At least with wheat, or gluten, there are so many other grains that...
  6. Call me crazy but those Food For Life Rice Tortillas work for me. I buy them by the case and I love the taste of them. I admit they can be crumbly, but I found if I throw them in a 375 degree oven for about 30 seconds or so a side they get warm, soft, and pliable. I do everything with them sandwich wraps, dippers, even quesadillas. For quesadillas I load...
  7. I didn't know exactly where to post this, I thought maybe here would be appropriate as a possible symptom? I suffer with angioedema, an anaphylactic type hive/rash outbreak, and wondered if anyone else experienced this as well? It is similar to hives, but very different, maybe starting out as a small splotchy patch and then they grow into very large...
  8. Hi lonewolf, the big ones for me to avoid are wheat, dairy, sugar, corn, and soy-- but even nuts, fruits, all grains, and some vegetables bother me to some degree. Basically the process of eating is unpleasant all together because I am so highly sensitive to everything and my intestinal tract is so damaged. I don't think it's possible for me to stay away...
  9. Thanks for your reply Rachel-24. I definitely feel better not eating wheat compared to when I do eat wheat. When I eat wheat, or oats, I get really sick. But I am still sick, due to multiple food allergies in addition to the wheat/oat intolerance, as well as other health issues on top of that. I guess it's a question of whether or not a diagnosis is necessary...
  10. These are my all time favorite easter candy. I'm so excited they are safe!!! I got really sick around Halloween because of some of the candy I ate. I read that some of the miniature versions of the different candies do in fact have gluten in them even though their larger version do not. Makes it kind of confusing hershey people.
  11. ChelsE- thanks for these suggestions. I tried infusium, but years and years ago. I might have to give it another try. I love the sound of Dove, I really admire their new beauty campaign with women of all shapes, colors and sizes- makes you want to go out and buy Dove! I had to laugh when you said "holding down the beasty hair" that is exactly how...
  12. I have been treated by many doctors, main stream and alternative health professionals, for almost 20 years (and I'm only 33) and celiac disease was never mentioned until 1998, the naturopath I was seeing at the time suggested a celiac "saliva" test. I haven't seen anything like that mentioned here yet and wondered if anyone knew about this specific test...
  13. Sounds yummy! I am forever searching for a good gluten free cookie without soy and dairy. Some of the gluten free cookies on the market are so awful, they taste like cardboard or chalk, or have a bitter aftertaste or the ingredients don't seem to meld together. It's so exciting to find a keeper!
  14. Hi Rusla, thank you for the welcome and thanks for your product suggestions. I was born with curly hair but it sure has changed in texture over the years with different health issues. One hair stylists said "hair is all about the hormones, what's going on in the body will show up in your hair", so true. Jerseyangel- thanks for the feedback on the Shikai...
  15. I do the majority of my shopping at Vitamin Cottage, the prices are so much better than Whole Foods and Wild Oats. But, I can't always find everything I need there so I am usually running around to all 3 stores for different things. My local Sunflower Market doesn't many carry gluten-free productsat all, so I was a little disappointed.
  16. You didn't specify if you are making a white/yellow cake or chocolate cake? Pamela's Pancake and Baking Mix has dairy in the mix, I think buttermilk powder. The chocolate cake mix is dairy free. I have used coconut milk as a milk substitute for a white/yellow cake.
  17. Jerseyangel, thanks so much for the welcome and thanks for this information. I am forever seeking hair products that will work for me, I finally found a decent line, Elucence, and they use wheat proteins in their products. Bummer. I am familiar with Shikai that you mentioned. In fact, Shikai makes my favorite lotion in a gardenia scent, but their...
  18. Does anyone know of a product line that caters to natural curly hair and is gluten free? I have really long thick curly hair and it is always a challenge to find hair products that work for my hair type, now the added challenge to find them gluten free. Anyone with a similar hair type that uses something they like? I would love to hear. Also,...
  19. I do yoga, going on my 3rd year now, and I absolutely love it. I would like to incorporate pilates in maybe 1 or 2 times a week for variety. I have been a lifetime exerciser, running, walking, swimming, and weights at one time or another, but nothing has transformed my body and my life the way yoga has. Weight lifting made me bulky and never really...
  20. I frequent recipezaar.com and the Food Network at foodtv.com. Recipe Zaar makes it so easy to do a recipe search if I am looking for something specific (appetizer, dessert, something with chicken, etc.) And I love to watch the Food Network cooking shows and I go to their site to download the recipes that I see them make and want to try. Of course...
  21. I have been experimenting with various gluten free cake mixes lately, just tried the Namaste Vanilla Cake Mix last weekend and made a yummy Apple Ginger Cake with it, it came out great. I haven't tried the Namaste chocolate cake version, but I assume the baking would be the same, or similar, for both the Vanilla and Chocolate mixes from Namaste. What...
  22. I love the Pamela's Pancake and Baking Mix! Light, airy, fluffy pancakes from heaven!! The mix does have dairy in it though which might be a problem for some. I haven't really tried any other pancake mixes, other than Arrowhead Mills, which was a thumbs down for me. The result was very hard and dense pancakes, but maybe I was doing something wrong....
  23. I personally haven't found the gluten-free cookbooks to be useful, but that's just me. I cook a lot and I have found that I can modify quite a few "main stream" recipes into safe gluten free ones, and I get creative and make up a lot of my own. May I ask what or where is "delphi" and how do I find it?!?!
  24. This is my first post, so I hope I am doing this right .... I love to cook and I am always trying to come up with interesting recipes that allow me to eat well, but are gluten free. Appetizers can be tricky. -If dairy or nuts is not a problem, a quick and easy appetizer to throw together is a Walnut Goat Cheese Log- just get a small log of goat...
