  1. I don't have information about this specific product, but it kinda sounds like the next fad or gimmick. Sort of reminds me of the hype behind products like chitosan (sp?) or sea silver, supposedly the miracle cure-alls at the time.
  2. I have questions: Is there anywhere on-line where there is a list of safe/legal probiotic brands to use? Does anyone know what the special instructions are for cooking the dried legal beans?
  3. Even though I have been sick for so many years with chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, multiple food allergies and intolerances and chemical sensitivities, digestive disorders, various hormonal imbalances, angioedema, and possibly celiac disease... I LOVE LIFE!!! I love to smile I love my family, especially my nieces I love the memories I have...
  4. Simply V, thanks for this reply- lots of good information and suggestions. I've had a blood panel allergy test, but that has been some years ago. I have leaky gut, and have had for many years, so whatever I am eating at the time I eventually develop an intolerance to. I try really hard to do a rotation diet but there aren't many things I can eat on a regular...
  5. Cheese is my weakness too Berneses. I have no problem giving up milk, yogurt, sour cream, and other dairy products, but cheese is so hard for me to go without forever and ever so I occasionally indulge. When I first went dairy free about 12 years ago I am almost certian there was a product on the market that was completely dairy free (no casein) and...
  6. I can't eat the Nana's cookies, I love them, but the dextrins give me a really bad headache. Just a thought, but not all Nana's cookies and bars are gluten-free. I don't know if this is the case where you bought them, but in all of the stores that sell Nana's in my area they put all of the gluten-free varieties right in with the gluten containing varieties...
  7. I love Pamela's Amazing Wheat Free Bread Mix. I haven't tried making a pizza crust with it yet, or even a loaf of bread. So far I've used it to make homemade cinnamon rolls and they came out so good- very much like the real thing. I love how the mix rises and dough-like bread consistency of the end result. For me this product is definitely a keeper...
  8. Hi Moongirl, from what I understand pilates has been around since around 1915 and is a specific method of physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen, elongate, and align the body, used in sports training as well as physical rehabilitation- so it's good stuff. Yoga, on the other hand, has been around for thousands of years and involves a physical piece...

    ARCHIVED Yoga

I have only been practicing yoga for 3 years so I still consider my self at the beginner stage, there is so much more for me to learn. I agree that getting some personal instruction is necessary, as well as helpful, to become familiar with the poses and correct alignment. My accupuncturist is also a yoga instructor on the side and he got me started with...

    ARCHIVED Yoga

jerseyangel, there really is a very strong mind/body connection. I never believed something that just looked like stretching on the floor could be so powerful. Many of the poses allow for a deep emotional release and for some people they may even weep. You should give it a try!

    ARCHIVED Yoga

Since pilates has a thread of its own I thought I would start one for yoga. I am so in love with yoga... I was curious does anyone else weep when they do certain poses?
  12. I'm mostly Irish, Scottish, English, and Delaware/Lenape Indian (American Indian).
  13. The feedback I have gotten from the alternative medical professionals I have gone to is pretty much the same, that the scratch test is more or less a joke. I'm sort of with Clark Bent, at least for me, elimination diets and food journaling has been difficult. I usually don't always get immediate reactivity, or obvious signs that something isn't agreeing...
  14. Anybody that has the book Breaking the Vicious Cycle and wouldn't mind posting the instructions for cooking the legal/allowed dried legumes, I would forever appreciate it!! On the website where it lists the legal/illegal foods it says under kidney beans, or split peas, for example, "must be prepared according to instructions in the book". I am curious as...
  15. I cook up a package of Applegate Farms Turkey Bacon until really crisp, drain and cool, then crumble into bacon bit size pieces. I store it in an airtight container and keep in the freezer, then anytime I want to have bacon bits for a salad, or fritatas, or whatever, I just take out what I need. This requires a little more work, but since I don't eat pork...
  16. Hi megsylvan, I'm not sure about the bacteria in our guts being selective- no idea. I had a food panel test taken several years ago, I don't recall what the test was called, but it did test for food allergies/intolerances so I know there is one out there. I have experienced recently severe esophogeal reflux, what helped me was staying away from spicy foods...
  17. Oh Rachel, I am so sorry! A salicylates allergy/intolerance is tough, they are found in almost everything so I know it can't be easy for you. The main thing, I think, is finding things to eat that won't make you sick (or at least not make you the sickest, the lesser of all evils) and if right now that is rice and other things not on the SCD then that is...
  18. I made an error in my earlier post, the key code should read gluten-free for gluten free. Beeler's is also another company at the health food stores that have hams, I think they list allergens on the packaging as well.
  19. I just realized that for anyone doing the Specific Carbohydrate Diet for healing the gut Aloe Vera and Slippery Elm are both big No No's. Ooops!
  20. At healthfood stores, meat companies like Applegate Farms and Wellshire Farms have an allergy key code on their packaging- "gluten-free" will be listed if it is gluten free. I know Applegate Farms carries hams, all kinds of varieties of poultry sausages, and traditional Italian items like salami, as well as a lot of other meat items.
  21. Thanks cornbread for the information and the support. I intend to do the intro, but since I want to fully commit to it and do it right for an entire year I need to find the right time to start. So for me, choosing from the safe foods list and looking over the book and websites will be helpful prep work. I've tried a similar diet with the same intentions...
  22. As far as hams from the health food stores, Applegate Farms and Wellshire Farms are suppose to have a allergy information key code on the packaging- "gluten-free" for gluten free.
  23. I think I was meant to read this thread today! The universe works in myterious ways.... Count me in, I am very interested in this SCD, it sounds like the solution for all of my digestive and health problems and the key for me getting better. I'm actually excited about getting started! I'll probably start slowly and at first just make sure I eat...
  24. I know my story was a little grim, I was hoping people with positive first-hand experiences would also reply to give you another side. I personally believe the idea of getting toxicity out of the body is a good idea, but I am not so sure about chelation as the method, for me anyway. I like doing things that are a littler gentler on my body. I hope...
  25. This is interesting, I have been wondering this myself lately. I have struggled for years with leaky gut, terrible digestion and absorption problems, an overgrowth of yeasts, bacterias, and fungi- complete disbiosis of the gut. The result has been multiple food and environmental allergies, as well as a myriad of other health issues. When I read over this...
