  1. Just a headsup the "go rounds" just continue. Like I said my daughter was diagnosed as "probable" Celiac at 17 months old. Elevated levels on the Celiac panel, positve for DQ2 and DQ8 celiac genes and was deemed to ill for the endoscopy. (as she was hospitalized for dehydration for 3days.) When she was getting diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitus...
  2. I haven't been making bread since we can't use eggs anymore. When you mix the "batter" do mix until the the beater leaves a groove? It can be the sign that the dough can hold it's own shape. Let me know how the gelatin or fiber works out.
  3. Have you tried turning the loaf pan on its side when you take it out of the oven to cool?
  4. Get off the gluten and see if it helps. New information is coming out about the "negative tested patients that improve on a gluten free diet". The medical community is taking another look. There has been too much of a positive improvement for too many patients. (It seems especially strong in nuerological affected individuals.)
  5. There is still a lot of healing that needs to take place at 6 months gluten free. Keep a food journal. Investigate what is going on in school for possible cross contamination. If this continues go back to the ped. GI. We went through a similar situation. Gluten free for almost 5 years. Then she started vomitting like she was being glutened. I made...
  6. I think you will find it won't be that hard to figure out. Sugar, some type of fat, and liquid is pretty straight forward about making something tasty. Stick with it! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Allergen-free baker's handbook How to bake without gluten, wheat, dairy, eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame by Cybele Pascal The orange buttercream...
  7. I really hate the whole concept of a gluten challenge. Our daughter was quite young and ended up in the hospital for dehydration. Dehydration is very serious. She was too ill to have the endoscopy at that point. She ended up having the endoscopies to diagnose and guage Eosinophilic Esophagitus. (It has now been recognized there is a connection...
  8. Keep a food journal. Keep notations of BM's, mood, symptoms, and if possible add airborn allergen count. (Compare this to weight gain and growth chart as time allows.) If you do the gluten challenge, make sure they take enough biopsies. (Even "normal" looking tissue needs to be biopsied) Make sure this is a certainty! Do not waste your time having...
  9. What about orange juice instead of the "milk" liquid? I am trying to find the recipe if you are interested.
  10. Had to go all top 8 allergens, along with gluten, and peas (which means we were unsure about other legumes and beans). It is possible, and you can't eat just lettuce either. Enjoy Life had a lot of products that helped. The craving place, Namaste had quite a few mixes that helped too.
  11. This is a quote from Max Lucado about chidren to parents.... "You've been given a book with no title--read it! A CompactDisc with no cover--listen to it! An island with no owner-- explore it! Resist the urge to label before you study. Attend carefully to the unique childhood of your child." Open up the communication to see what is going on. What...

    ARCHIVED IHOP

I just want to remind people that with such a global economy and politics running rampant, check every label. When my dughter was hospitalized, the apple juice was from Germany. This hospital is on the borderline of Detroit, Mi. We have many local apple orchards here. I can not see how it would be cost efficient to get apple juice from Germany when...
  13. My daughter has been through it at least 3 times. Pretty much the same as previous posters. Follow directions. No food after 12 midnite the night before. (I heard through the curtains a few times. The gum chewer had the procedure. The infant the mom fed a bottle to had to induce vommitting for the procedure.) You can bring things from home...
  14. Welcome Channing! I hope you find your answers. Many people are here to help.
  15. I have seen some artcles that link stopping smoking with triggerring Celiac. Some links that say cigarette smoking can lessen Celiac gut symptoms. (This may be because cigarette smoking does make it harder for a body to absorb nutrients through the gut, and therefore may alter in the digesting as a whole for gluten too. So how would a person pinpoint it...
  16. First, I am so sorry to hear your little guy is having problems. Did you have any tests that diagnosed Celiac? If you can explain any of his symptoms that are causing him not to eat? Any areas of pain? Give a full description of anything that makes him feel off. Hang in there! The peeps here are more than willing to help. Keep a food journal to...
  17. I agree with Karen G. same things I would have typed. Things are going to be tough. 3 year olds are tough. Have some of her favorite things to choose from for snacks and treats. Even if that means she is getting a "candy" treat every now and then when you would have preffered a healthier snack. You have to deal with a 3 year old attitude of wanting...
  18. you can also go to whole foods website and print some store coupons. some of the products are gluten free.
  19. There is also a frozen mac n cheese from Glutino. (only makes gluten free products) Be careful about the Amy's because there are different versions. You need the rice noodle one, which is marked gluten free. Annie's has 2 gluten free box mixes one with cheese sauce packet and one with powder mix. There are also gluten versions of Annie's. By far any...
  20. Unless those are certified gluten free oats, you have to remove them from your diet. If they are gluten free oats, you need to make sure you aren't in the group of Celiacs that can not tolerate them.
  21. To get to the bottom of things, you have to keep the diet "normal". Do not remove gluten until testing is complete. What you can do until the appointment is keep a food journal. Maybe the vomitting is not that sporatic, you just haven't found the delayed food reaction? You have to realize some reactions are 12 days long. Keep track of all ingredients...
  22. I am really glad you have found a great GI!
  23. Hey with that list of symptoms, get your thyroid checked too. There is a connection between Celiac and auto-immune thyroid disorders. (By the way a Hashimoto's thyroiditis diagnoses is sometimes tricky to get diagnosed.) Glad to see you are joining the fun of posting! It can be a life saver having a group of peeps that understand going gluten free...
  24. We've been gluten free over 7 years now. It is just the occassional person that gets on my nerves. People really over step their bounds, especially when children are involved. I do try and post about about the nice things people have done. Like handing me new food items, saying I found these and they are labeled gluten free so I bought this for you. ...
  25. I'm originally from Michigan too! (SW) I live in the south now, but all my good friends happen to be from Michigan. :)
