  1. ditto i assume its caused by folds in the intestines

  3. "In 1998, Alessio Fasano and colleagues tested blood samples from a blood bank to develop a reference point for the prevalence of celiac disease in the United States. They found that of 2,000 samples, 1 in 250 exhibited celiac-specific antibodies. In a much larger, nationwide prevalence study also led by Fasano (in which we participated), it was determined...
  4. i've had them and yea they were hard too, so it's a good bet they're supposed to be
  5. actually the stool test is only 100 bucks, the fuller panel which includes other tests is like 300-something. so (to the topic starter) it could be worth a hundred bucks to see if your body is or isn't having a reaction to gluten, that would indicate something one way or the other to you. i plan to use enterolabs for the stool test soon, and maybe follow...
  6. i get sensations like that too. i'm not always sure why, but anxiety can produce these symptoms. i wouldn't worry too much about it, it will probably dissapear once you get to the bottom of whatever is going on with you.
  7. i have the vertical ridges, they started around the time i started getting palpitations and tinnitus, and also my nails started looking paler and i lost the white "moons" at the bottom of them on all my fingers. i've read that the ridges can be due to nutritional deficiencies and malabsorption too. i also just read that they can be due to iron deficiency...
  8. i'm undiagnosed with celiac, waiting to get tested, but i do have rosacea. interestingly it first appeared when i was 19 and got sick with a virus. this is when my stomach bloating started, anxiety doubled and my physical health gradually started getting worse (probably anemic/malnourished). but i wonder if there's a connection. i do notice that stress, junk...
  9. hi everyone i don't have medical insurance but i want to get tested for celiac. i've been considering enterolabs but also there's this place near me called "any lab test" where you can get tested for... you guessed it, any lab test... without a dr's visit. now i'm going to call and see if they can do the blood test for celiac. so my question is what is...
  10. yea it should be frozen. it might be good for a short time on the shelf (like a few days), but there's no way to tell except by buying and eating it. that seems pretty dumb on their part.
  11. i get similar sensations in my head and other parts of my body. i don't think it's a gluten reaction, not for me anyway. feeling cold or heat sensations, numbness or tingling in hands, feet, face, head, or any other places on the body can be symptomatic of anxiety. so can lots of things: Open Original Shared Link i have also experienced similar things during...
  12. thank you. i do eat lots of fiber. lately the constipation/tension has just been worse. i don't know.
  13. No advice, but I have similar symptoms (acid reflux, bloating, ridges on nails) and am trying to figure out what is going on with myself. It's hard to tell if I react to certain foods, almost anything seems to contribute to bloating and I always feel pretty bad regardless of what I eat (or don't). Where did you get the food allergy tests from?
  14. besides overall anxiety and tension, i have for a long time had an enormous amount of tension in my lower abdomen. it feels like a stone, or constantly squeezed. some of this abdominal discomfort is due to bloating, but besides that it just feels constantly tensed. anyone else get this? i guess it could be IBS (whatever that actually is), or anxiety. but...
  15. 2 and a half bucks. wow. it's 5 bucks around here. i don't think there is a trader joe's nearby. just shows you how much they may jack up the price on speciality items. ridiculous.
  16. mcdonald's is garbage anyway
  17. can also be a symptom of gastric reflux
  18. i've heard good and bad. (try googling "dangers of melatonin").
  19. i think i read that crohn's can also cause it, but i'm sure there are a number of others too. i'm pretty sure you can't be allergic to fat - maybe certain kinds - but fat is necessary, like protein and carbs.
  20. i think someone said on another forum about celebrities with celiac that he had the type that didn't respond to the diet... not sure though. but i'm pretty sure he drank a lot of beer and alcohol, and probably not the gluten-free kind. i mean, he was in Kid Rock's band.
  21. Yep, it's gluten-free. I should have done that before posting... Open Original Shared Link "The following products are free of wheat gluten, the name for the protein found in pasta, common cereals, and all forms of wheat (including durum, semolina, spelt, kamut, einkorn, and faro), barley, oats, and rye. We send out all of our gluten free products...
  22. Yea, there was an earlier thread about if anyone tested negative from Enterolabs. I have heard of a couple so far.
  23. OK, the box says exactly this: "wheat gluten free" - not "wheat/gluten free" or "wheat AND gluten free", just "wheat gluten free". does that mean no gluten at all, or just no wheat gluten? anyone know? i thought i've been gluten-free the past week, i hope this isn't a misleading source.
  24. funny, i was just at the store and noticed "Annie's Naturals BBQ Sauce" and its gluten-free. never tried it but if its as good as their salad dressings, then i'm sure it's... uh, good. they carry it here at Kroger in the natural foods section and i'm sure places like Whole Foods have it
