  1. I hope BCBS pays! Do I really need to order all the tests for my 20 month old (not an issue if insurance pays, but if they don't it's quite pricey), or would one or 2 do? I'm not opposed to spending $400, I'm just afraid to do that and get false negative results b/c then my husband will feel that she is fine and won't need further testing (whereas if I...
  2. I had seen on the delphi list (I think that's the list it was on) that Disarrono amaretto is gluten-free - that is the one I have at home so I was happy

    ARCHIVED Amenorrhea

I did breastfeed and pump (went back to work fulltime) for 5 months, but then gave up (no supply). It's been 15 months since I last pumped/breastfed and still no pd. Went to my ob yesterday and he said that unless I want to get pregnant (I don't) again that not having a period is ok. I think I'll have my endocrynologist do a bone density test next time...
  4. Do you have a recipe for the apple muffins? I used to make a good one but it is not gluten free - would love to find a gluten-free apple muffin recipe that is good!

    ARCHIVED Amenorrhea

I have only had one period in the past 3 1/2 years (granted, I got pregnant after that one period - on purpose - so 9 months of that don't count ) - none of my dr's are concerned about it. I've only recently been dx with celiac and have only been gluten-free for 3 1/2 weeks, so it has nothing to do with the diet change for me. My dr's (and everyone I talk...
  6. Just curious, at what age can you have someone tested (I have been dx by biopsy and blood tests but have a 20 month old daughter that I'm curious about)? My baby does not have most of the symptoms - she is 50th% weight/90 height, does not have D, only occassionally has eczema or some type of small rash on inside of her elbows/knees and one on the corner...
  7. Might I add - NO LICKING ENVELOPES! I am new to this too and have gone 3 1/2 weeks gluten-free, all for nothing I feel. Last night I forgot and licked an envelope - well, at least now I know what my glutening reactions are. Although, I have not started to feel any better being on this diet yet (I had extensive damage to my intestines so I assume they are...
  8. I've noticed several mentionings of sinus issues - my question is has anyone discovered if this is related to the gluten, or maybe dairy or soy or something else? I've only been gluten-free for about 3 /12 weeks, so have not healed yet (still have all the issues), but I have noticed that about 2 weeks ago my sinus problems came back (usually get a sinus...
  9. Thanks everyone for your help. Now that I put all this together, the body fat is probably my problem - I am not overly skinny (what most consider "normal" weight), however, the 2 times that I've had my body fat tested in the past 5 years it has been extremely low (probably due to my excessive exercise - stopped doing that though when I was trying to get...
  10. wow, this is a lot of information! I've been trying to get rid of these night sweats for years to no avail! I'm thinking the gluten-free diet might do it, or maybe I'll try evening primrose if that doesn't work. Anyway, the way I "cope" is to just take off my soaking wet pjs, turn on the ceiling fan, and try to go back to sleep on a wet bed, then change...
  11. I'm assuming the bar of soap under the bedsheet is unwrapped? Does is matter what kind? I am going to try that (without telling my husband) to see if it helps his RLS
  12. Can anyone tell me what their symptoms of early menopause are? For the past 5 years or so, I've had extreme night sweats, no period (except for one while on clomid so that I could get pregnant - got pregnant right after that one period and then no more even after having the child almost 2 years ago), muscle cramps, depression/mood swings, hot flashes (now...
  13. There are several strings on this, but just to summarize, everyone is different (you will see some people say it took them 2 days and some people 6 months!). I am on my third week of gluten-free and still have the D 5-6 times per day. I have noticed that I have gone a few days here and there in that time where I only have a BM once or twice, which NEVER...
  14. I don't have RLS but I do have the massive leg/foot cramps that make me jump out of bed (screaming sometimes!). I get them when I play tennis also (but not when I run). I tried the whole banana/sports drink thing for potasium but that just made it worse, then I noticed that I ALWAYS got the cramps at night when I had had a banana that day, so I stopped...
  15. I have low estrogen and have not had a period since getting pregnant 2 1/2 years ago (and only then did I have 1 period since going off BC 14 months before!). I also have extreme night sweats (wake up drenched every hour) - have had these for about 3-4 years now - and before being dxed with celiac, I was an extremely hot natured person. I am on Loestrin...
  16. I'm in my third week and still no improvement - actually feel worse (headaches and sinus problems now, and ear aches) and have lost several pounds (not a problem since I'm not too skinny to begin with) b/c of cutting out the carbs. I haven't tried the gluten-free breads, etc. yet - I will do that when I need to put some pounds back on
  17. FYI - Caribou Coffee's response: Thank you for taking time to write us with your questions. We at Caribou Coffee are sensitive to the needs of our customers with dietary restrictions, including gluten allergies. We are consistently working to make these concerns known and to produce such nutritional information available more readily. Coffee and...
  18. Any of the Buckhead Life restaurants (previous weblink) would accomodate yoiu - just talk to the manager or chef if you can to make sure there are no CC issues. I've heard Maggianos and Cheeseburger are both good places, and I've been to the Smokey Bones at Perimeter and the kitchen manager actually knew all about celiac and the CC issues. It was great...
  19. Great! What's Hy-vee? Is it a store? Don't think we have that here in Atlanta.
  20. It was someone at the corporate number that I called that told me the mochas and white mochas were not gluten-free. Don't know why. If someone knows otherwise, I would love to know, b/c I love the white mochas!
  21. I just called on Friday and the lady on the phone said the only items they have that ARE NOT gluten-free are the mocha and white mocha, and anything with chocolate chips. I am pretty sure Eddy's sherbert is fine, as is some of their ice cream/yogurt (just read the ingredient list on the back). I needed to make sure I could still have my ice cream and Starbucks...
  22. i had called Starbucks yesterday and asked what drinks are gluten-free and the lady said all their drinks EXCEPT the mocha, the white mocha, and anything with the chocolate chips are gluten-free, so I'm guessing the green tea latte is safe.
  23. Thanks - that is right around the corner from my parents' house. I've been wondering what I will do for food when we go over there - now I will know that I can always run out and get something if I need to
  24. How was the vacation? Where did you stay and eat? I'm interested in learning all I can before we go in October (have heard a lot of good things about the restaurants and parks being gluten-free, but not so much about the hotels - now wondering if we should stay at a non-dinsey hotel for cheaper?).
