  1. Do you guys make your bread in a bread machine (mine does not have a gluten-free setting like some do) or int he oven? I have a mix of the gluten-free Pantry bread but haven't made it yet - just wondering which works better.
  2. Wow, you have all the same things I was "diagnosed" with when my dr's couldn't figure out what was wrong with me (PCOS, hypothyroid, asthma, sinus problems, insulin resistance, and anemia, to name a few). I also have an (almost) 2 year old daughter - my D didn't get bad until after my pregnancy - apparantely that's what kicked off my celiac. I just got...
  3. I don't use a lot of salt, but use about average I think. Funny you mention that b/c one nurse told me I probably had a sodium deficiency (b/c of my dizzyness and passing out spells), and that I should drink more sports drinks and use more salt, but when I did that, I got horrible muscle cramps (sports drinks and bananas do that to me). Turns out the dizzyness...
  4. I have always had extremely low blood pressure (one time it was 60/48 - the nurse took it 3 times and then the dr. took it again twice b/c didn't believe it!). It has never been over 94/70, even when I was pregnant. The nurses who take it always ask if the dr's have looked into it, but none of my dr's have ever been concerned about it. Just wondering if...
  5. does anyone know if clinique lipstick and line are gluten-free? I"ve contacted the company but have not gotten a response (it's been 3 days now).... Also, covergirl face powder (which is what I use) DOES have wheat in it - is this still ok since it doesn't go in the mouth (or near it)? I have a brand new one (unopened, that's how I know it has wheat...
  6. Well, I just bought a big package of those at BJs, but haven't tried them yet. I hope they don't make me sick since I bought so many, but I will let you know! BTW, what are nightshades? I'm still new to this....
  7. one of their flavors (I'm thinking it is the caramel choc. chip or butter toffee) DOES have gluten in the ingredients. And the CC issue.....
  8. Does anyone have any recommendations of what hotels to stay at in Disney? After reading this, I want to stay at a Disney owned hotel when we go in Oct. (since they will have gluten-free food for me) We will have a 2 year old with us so need someplace that will have a play area and cool pool for her, but also want something that is fairly nice for my husband...
  9. Does that mean teh Doc Chey's in Atlanta is ok too? (hope hope hope)
  10. Does anyone know if the Quick Trip fat free cappuccino (or any of their coffee drinks) is gluten-free? I was trying to find out but can't find any information for that company on the internet!
  11. butterball is gluten-free - I called the company.
  12. I also have Raynoids - cold hands and feet (but the rest of me overheats a lot). I have an extremely hard time when I go skiing b/c no matter how many socks and gloves I wear, my toes and fingers go numb immediately. I have to go inside after every run to warm them up. Pain in the butt! I also have night sweats - does anyone else have those?
  13. does anyone know if clinique lipstick is gluten-free?
  14. I am on Levoxyl 75mcg - been on synthroid, levothyroxine, and now levoxyl for 2 years (started during pregnancy). I haven't noticed a difference between any of them, but then again, I'm just starting to get gluten-free so I'm sure things will change!
  15. This is so great to know! My sister lives in Orlando and we will be going in October for her wedding (taking my soon to be 2 year old for her first time to the Magic Kingdom). I am so glad that they are so accomodating and look forward to visiting my sister more now!
  16. Just dxed with celiac and my dr. recommended I take folate (folic acid) along with my multivitamin, calcium w/D, and iron pills. Is this really necessary? I've already had a baby and don't plan on getting pregnant again
  17. I think that is normal. I am not at that stage yet (still in somewhat denial that all this could be happening to me), but I know I will be. I love to go out to dinner and we are in 2 dinner clubs that meet monthly (no more of that for me I am just very upset right now that my style of life will once again change so dramatically (I adjusted with the change...
  18. I've just been diagnosed with celiac and crohns. Go to the dr. tomorrow to figure out what needs to be done about the crohns. And to think, a month ago I had never heard of gluten!
  19. I'm a "new" celiac (just diagnosed a few weeks ago) and live in Peachtree Corners (near Norcross/Dunwoody area). One child who is 20 months old and runs the world.
  20. Can you tell when baking soda/powder and corn starch are bad? I've had some that have been opened for awhile, but they aren't past the dates on the can/box. Just wondering if that's what was wrong with my cookies
  21. what about the chewable Immodium AD (anti gas and anti diarhea)?
  22. Ok, what's the deal with these 2 items. I've seen conflicting information as to whether they are ok or not. Help!
  23. I used the potato starch recipe and margarine sticks (not real butter) - do you just use gluten-free flour (instead of potatoe starch) in the normal recipe and not change anything else?
  24. I was just at the store looking for tapioca flour for a recipe and all they had was tapioca starch - is it the same thing? What about potato flour/starch?
  25. I've had blood in my stool (sometimes bright red but usually dark red blood clots) for quite some time. No one seems to be concerned, even though I've told all my dr's. I wouldn't worry too much about it - they'll test you and then you'll know. Mine has gone away since I've been gluten-free for the past 10 days, but I expect it to come back. Just keep...
