ARCHIVED Which Kind Of Arthritis Is Related To Celiac?
2kids4me replied to mythreesuns's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My son had joint/leg pain that disappeared after going gluten-free, he still has flare ups when he gets a cold or something like that. The endo explained it this way: any autoimmune process can cause inflammation ion the joints, the cells that line the joints to become inflammed in response to the systemic autoimmune reaction - causing pain. The endo said... -

ARCHIVED Just A Shake Of My Head
2kids4me replied to jennyj's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It's the anesthesia that's the major part (IMHO). Any time a procedure "enters a body cavity" and is taking tissue samples (biopsy) or removing something (polyps for example) is classified as "major" because there is a risk (however small) that the site could bleed excessively, that the endocscope would cause damage or that the patient would respond unfavorably... -
ARCHIVED Any Natural Medicines To Help The Stomatch?

Have you tried Chamomile tea or peppermint tea? I dont know if it would work on pain, but it is soothing for an unsettled tummy. -

HI guys, Thanks so much for sharing my joy My son is 11 (almost 12) and he was diagnosed with diabetes the day he turned 9. Musta been the licking of the bowl and taste testing the icing for the birthday cake that did it My daughter is 13 and has been gluten-free but not casein free, we saw a HUGE improvement after we found out she was celiac... -

Our son had a big grin happening today. He is off to camp for a week. It is special camp for kids with diabetes (Camp Jean Nelson in Alberta). I can't tell you how wonderful it is to send him somewhere I know he will be safe and I dont have to explain a thing. The camp is staffed by nurses, doctors, paramedic students, and young counsellors who have diabetes... -

It likely has more to do wth the diabetes. This is a link to an article specific to diabetic gustatory sweating: Open Original Shared Link EDIT - OK, not sure why the link doesnt work... I have copied and posted the abstract, you can search using the terms: diabetic gustatory sweating to bring up a number of articles Gustatory sweating can occur...

I dont know what anyone else can do to help. She has stated that she has two top forensic psycologists working on the case. She has friends that have appeared on Montel - maybe they would be of more help to her in terms of contacting the right people. It has been suggested that Cindy contact the National Celiac Association - maybe she can tell us how that... -
ARCHIVED My Son Had Kd And Now Being Seen For Possible Celiac Disease - Anyone Else?
2kids4me replied to Michelle L.'s topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We live in Alberta, Canada in small town. The GP her treated her for Urinary tract infection even though urine was normal - he said you can have infections with a normal urine (??). When the fever never stopped and she was getting sicker - he did a referral only because I asked - he then said it was viral and I was looking for some cureall. I got in 5 days... -

Lucky would be one word... it amazes me how some hospitals are aware of it and it is on the list of rule outs for fevers right from the start......and satff at other hospitals look at you and say - wow that's rare, how did they know? Simple, it was on the list of potential diagnoses from the start ( too bad the "start" was 2 weeks after the fever began! and... -
ARCHIVED My Son Had Kd And Now Being Seen For Possible Celiac Disease - Anyone Else?
2kids4me replied to Michelle L.'s topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Kathryn was diagnosed after 3 weeks, she had a fever for 11 days, rashes, fatigue, peeling feet, all her lymph nodes were enlarged and tender..... all the classic symptoms.... I'll try to answer your questions the best I can.. and the symptoms do fit celiac and I think what happens is KD is the trigger for the celiac to "declare itself" (IMHO) Work... -
This kinda off topic but felt I had to reply.... My husband frequently uses the line you used and emphasizes REAL. He is a veterinarian. I have lost count of the comments like - so did you ever want to become a real doctor? He says "Gee, here I thought I was, and they let me use DR in front of my name and everything". Did you have to go to University...

HI skoki_mom, I live in Nanton, about an hour south of Calgary - it will be nice to have another option in the north for you. I feel totally spoiled now as Terracotto opened their bakery in town here - I can walk or bike there if I want to! Real estate is cheaper here so it was worth it to them to have the bakery here and ship stuff to Calgary. Glad...

OMG too funny - I had the same thoughts when i was in labour - I just kept repeating thankyou, thankyou, thankyou after the epidural as I sunk down into the pillow, I dont remember his face but he had a funny little grin as my husband said thankyou about 3 times too! Guess I was a little cranky! LOL Again, welcome Russ!

Welcome to the board... I always ask to speak to the anesthesiologist any time my kids (or I) "go under"... if he/she isnt on the ball than it doesnt matter how great a surgeon you have... It will be great to have you on board - maybe some insight about how to talk so doctors will listen .....and not tell us we read too much, are hypochondriac, or attention...

2kids4me replied to Michelle L.'s topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That would be us too! Kathryn had KD in 2003 and was diagnosed celiac in 2004. The cause of Kd , as you know - is not well understood - we sent her DNA to Dr Burns (in California) who was doing research into genetics of KD. Kathryn took a loooong time to recover - she wasnt diagnosed in time to give IVIG and was on aspirin for 6 months until the coronary... -
ARCHIVED Shocking Story
2kids4me replied to Gcbec's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I misunderstood her then and I have told her so in a PM, I based my response on her statement: I told her that - it can be easy to misunderstand when a test was done if it is not made clear - I apologized and am publicly posting that I misunderstood the above comment as having happened recently. I am also to understand that this test was for FMF and... -

I got a PM from Cindy- apparently genetic tests have been ordered and done since this all happened and she does have doctors that are looking at the file. She has to wait til it is presented in court. This contradicts what was posted earlier today (No doctor will look at the file)... but it must be a topsy turvey world so will just assume she means the... -

Now I am totally confused, the original post stated that there already WAS BLOOD WORK showing elevated levels. Lawyers are supposed to look at documents - like medical records. Even if no one else looked at the file. Cindy's lawyer should be looking - correct?? So how come this lawyer wouldnt present the documents as evidence and have them marked as an exhibit...
