He seems much better, thank you - we can enjoy the day.... and the greeen tea helped ... I just heard about Steve Irwin, It is so very tragic, and his family so young - how sad. I hope the media will give her some privacy during the next few days.

Thanks AndreaB - yes much easier said than done. Part of it is fatigue - we went on a long hike yesterday - 2 kids , the dog and DH. Dh kept walking ahead and was oblivious to son or I needing to stop and snack so we wouldn get low ... it was vigorous hike...then when we did stop he would be grabbing gluten-free trail mix from daughter and getting mad...

Still new to Rachelville and lurking in the background. I think we should build a corn maze next to the Go-kart track in town. I look here for respite from the real; world. Believe it or not, I can deal with all the medical issues better than I can deal with my DH and his passive aggressivness It is a lethal combination with my PMS which is building...

ARCHIVED Beets, Pink Urine And Celiac Connection?
2kids4me replied to Jennas-auntie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Its not a test of anything other than beets and other foods can change the color of urine - and its not abnormal. Just like eating fresh asparagus, makes your pee smell funny, certain drugs can color the urine blue or green (yup, blue), and foods can color the urine. A usless bit of info : On standing, horse urine will change to a blackish brown - nothing... -

ARCHIVED Kinnikinnick
2kids4me replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Kinnickinnick is dedicated facilty - they only produce gluten-free. I have talked to some that react to the products that contain pea flour - but that is because of a pea allergy. They change the flour combincations periodically - so it could be the type of combination of gluten-free flours they are using. -
yum, I am making Pamela's brownies today - might let the kids have some too! Need the choc cause I sense the dreaded PMS is around the corner, must stock up on choc now - maybe as preventative measure?

ARCHIVED Anybody Up Late Tonight? Please Help!
2kids4me replied to azmom3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I hope they investigate further. A low IgA does have significance - they need to do more specific tests for celiac and any autoimmune disease they think could be causing his symptoms. I hope they find the blood! Very frustrating esp when you have a child that doesnt feel well - last thing you need. Dont let them stop til they get... -
ARCHIVED So Frustrated...
2kids4me replied to andersonfam06's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You go girl, something is wrong and an infectious disease doctor looks at everything and might be able to get a clue by looking at the previous labs and running more tests. When my daughter had KD,. they had also consulted infectious disease doc to advise on any tests that should be done so they only had to poke her once. Infectious disease doc would be... -
We are having a fun week here... have a cousin visiting and have introduced him to the world of gluten-free. He is great as his sister has food allergies so its no big deal to eat gluten-free. he gave thumbs up to my gluten-free smores - I make crispy rice squares, press them fairly thin, use them like you would a graham cracker, add the marshmallow (9 secs...

When I am under stress - as happens frequently wth my chidlren and their various problems - I get premature atrial beats...managed to catch it on a strip in emerg when it kept going for 8 hours (had been up all night with sick kid, so was stressed and fatigued). I get out of breath, I sit down on stairs cause I can't make it up and then they go away as sudden...

ARCHIVED Tell Me About Hypothyroid
2kids4me replied to julie5914's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree, get re-tested - just because levels were normal before doesnt mean they havent changed since then. Other endocrine conditons can cause metabolism problems, including the "feeling cold" - adrenals and estrogen/progesterone imbalance. definitely find a doctor willing to re-test, and check out everything -
ARCHIVED Problems With Urinating?
2kids4me replied to C&M's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Wow, that's a lot of changes for a little one -first I am so glad she was diagnosed and now her insides can heal. I guess from a child's perspective - she saw a lot of doctors, now she has to eat differently and sees mom reading labels more, talking about celiac (unless you are celiac too, then its not that different), the new baby is awake more so maybe... -

I have bit of a journal but it would be a longish post - I can have verbal diarrhea when it comes to these things! It covers the time after Kawaski diagnosis and until celiac -If you really want to see it, I can post it - in Wordpad , its about 2 pages long -
Oh, cool I'd love to live in Rachelville - it sounds like a place I can call "my happy place"... Here is the application for a job in R-ville. Are you gluten free? Yup, and finally remembered to cook the gluten-free pizza crust BEFORE i put toppings on Do you promise to never infiltrate Rachelville with gluteney foods? no gluten shall hitchhike...

ARCHIVED Since Going Gluten Free What Is Better In Your Life?
2kids4me replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thank you Nantzie, I too marvel sometimes how simply (ha!) eliminating gluten made such a change in my kids. For my son - it meant the end of wet beds at night, joint pain so bad he limped in the day... and stomach aches that came and went..... Although I do not have celiac myself , I eat gluten-free because my kids do - and I have found that... -
ARCHIVED Since Going Gluten Free What Is Better In Your Life?
2kids4me replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I got my kids back - most notably my daughter. I can't possibly convey in words what it is like each day when I see her smile...really smile... and giggle. We lost that for a long time. She went inside herself and was grumpy and tired and isolated - she just felt crappy and didnt have the energy to deal with other people. I will always carry the image... -

ARCHIVED Hay Rides?
2kids4me replied to Smunkeemom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Barley and wheat are commonly used for straw (the stalks and leaves are what's left over after the heads are taken off). Rye is another source of straw. Timothy hay - is a grass hay (no gluten) Hay is from a grass or legume vs straw which comes from a cereal crop. Straw is used for bedding. Hay is used as a feed for cattle and horses. Hay...
