ARCHIVED Why Can't We Get Rid Of Autoimmune Diseases?
2kids4me replied to chrissy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Most of the problem is that researchers know that immune disease is caused by the body making antibodies to "self" something it doesnt normallly do. They havent found the "on button" much less who/what is sneaking in and flipppin the darn switch When they find the on button, then they have to find the off switch, no doubt hidden better than the on button... -
ARCHIVED What Vegetable Are Easy To Digest & Cause The Least D?
2kids4me replied to Anne AMP's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The diet you describe has almost no carbs in it - you would lose weight even without the diarrhea. I am sorry you are dealing with diarrhea all the time - not fun! Can you tolerate rice or potatoe, quinoa, banana - any of that? Can you tolerate a dairy product - like yogurt? I agree with the suggestion for acidophyllus too - your gut flora is very upset... -
Good to hear - I hope they can help her and support her going gluten free so she can heal physically and psychologically ....otherwise she will be chronically ill. Sounds like you would be very knowledagble - I am just giving "food for thought" - imagine , as of tomorrow -- you couldnt eat gluten. Knowing someone with the disease is different than...

No matter what the doctor orders or what diet you suggest - the only one with power in this situation is the patient. Perhaps instead of being angry and approaching the doctor with the approach: It might be better to provide psychological support. depression is common in chronic illness, esp disorders like celiac where this patient may not have family...

ARCHIVED Celiac Disease And Pneumonia
2kids4me replied to Mango04's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
So they couldnt even tell if it was viral bacterial etc? Usually clincial history and xrays can at least put it into a general category. For info on pneumonia: Since ingesting gluten may have caused physcial stress on the body it is possible that it made you more susceptible to any of the many organisms that can cause pneumonia. Many otherwise... -
ARCHIVED My Dog Is A Major Faker
2kids4me replied to theprincess's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Some dogs have mastered the fine art of faking it We get to hear all sorts of stories from owners and its hilarious. One dog had been home alone for what the dog deemed "too long"...and greeted his owners while dragging himself across the floor with his back end dragging and he was "talking/moaning" as he dragged himself there. They got a blanket... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease And Pneumonia
2kids4me replied to Mango04's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
The connection is related to autoimmune disorders in general - because autoimmune disease is not fully understood. 1) Patients have an immune system that can be altered by conditions like a viral or bacterial infection (they can serve as a "trigger" for further immune difficulties 2) a person with an existing disease may get sicker with pneumonia than a person... -
I found some good sites on belching/burping. I am prone ot it and it's a pms symptom for me I think its cause I do get more moody/anxious at that time and I swallow air. I did some reading and whan I actually paid attention to what I was doing - that is when I realized I likely swallow air and also: Open Original Shared Link drinking...

Hi guys, dd responded very well to eliminating lactose only, she is feeling 100% and back on track at school. I will keep an eye on things - and if symptoms return, will try no dairy. Lactose free milk, lacteeze if she has cheese or ice cream and she is symptom free. Interesting benefit to ds.... I asked him to try the lactose free milk and use lacteeze...

You're welcome - with the bedwetting - that took about 6 weeks if I remember right - he wet the bed almost every night, then I noticed it was very 3rd night then once a week, then it was like 2 weeks went by and no soaking wet boy in the middle of the night needing a hug and dry clothes He still occasionally wets the bed - I think once in the last 6 months...

Rez, I am glad you are feeling better too. You can feel like a weight is lifted when you stop worrying how others react - thats their problem. I have relatives that go all quiet or leave the room or make stupid comments when my son or I test our blood sugar and give insulin. My mother who got her nursing degree in 1956 and then never used it -- launches...

ARCHIVED Flu Shot
2kids4me replied to jesscarmel's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
flu shots and pneumocoocal pneumonia shots are free of gluten. However - many vaccines have their origins in eggs. Anyone with an egg allergy should be very careful about vaccines and consult with a knowledgeable person first. -
I hope this helps. My daughter had dermatographia (a form of angioedema and not what you have....)which is mentioned in the quote from the site. At first I thought we ended up with a quack dermatologist - when he took a tongue depressor and ran it down my daughters' back - then a huge welt line appeared before my eyes and he says : dermatographia. The...

ARCHIVED Will Being Glutened Affect A Medication From Assimilating?
2kids4me replied to saaa-wheat<3's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Even in a normal functioning thyroid - if the patient (animal or human) has generalized illness. There is something called the euthyroid sick syndrome. The thyroid is affected by the systemic illness and the illness creates extra demand for thyroid hormone... which can be hard for the thyroid to do if it is beig affected as well. In the thyroid being destroyed... -

Whne the kids were first diagnosed - you' d have thoguht I made everyone's life difficult and complicated family meals and made extar work. In time they have realized its not that mush of a fuss, if they just let me provide the gluten-free options for my kids. I made the point one time when i responded with : I know it's confusing at first - imagine how...

Daughter improved almost immediately (first couple weeks after gluten-free) - energy levels went way up, school work improved as did her attention and focus. Son took a month or more, bedwetting ceased, blood glucose levels stabalized and he slept better. Recently we also descovered she had problem with lactose - ability to complete work in class went down...

ARCHIVED I'm Not Sure What This Rash Is?
2kids4me replied to bmzob's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
it certainly sounds like a skin reaction to something in the product - could be the fragrances. Or the towel - does your mom use bounce sheets or Tide? - even dogs can get major rashes when they come into contact with items washed /dried with either... We use softsoap (no fragrance) with no problem -
yes, I can take time off work and rest and I will do that or else I wont be much help to anyone. It will be a better day tomorrow as kids go to school and dh goes to work. At least dd is no longer nauseous and up with diarrhea - since we figured out the lactose. I think I would have gone around the bed if I had needed to deal with that too. thank you...

Susan I'll be thinking of you too! Maybe it will help me. Maybe we can boost each other up. I seemed to be doing well the last several months, coping with ups and downs. Today I lost it, I blew up big time and I dont know where all of it came from - other than I was sick today and expected that I had a capable husband. I just wanted to find a place where...
