ARCHIVED Do Any Biopsy-positive Celiacs Get Offended When Someone With
2kids4me replied to Nantzie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
since the *treatment* (diet) for both is gluten free, then I consider them one in the same in terms of support for diet, symptoms etc. There is still more to learn [about both issues], and I guess one is autoimmune and can carry the risk of other autoimmune issues - then the celiac would need info about that...but the gluten intolerant needs info too! ... -
ARCHIVED Pork Digestive Systems Of Pigs... Does It Remove Gluten?
2kids4me replied to HawkFire's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You're welcome! It all made sense when dh said - maybe they are talking about the glands... and it went from there. In biblical times - they would have seen this odorous substance coming from the leg and assumed it was pus or something vile. Kind of like anal sacs/glands in dogs.. for those of you with dogs - if you have ever had the sacs expressed... -
Kinnickinnick makes yummy bagels - daughter loves them! I had one and I really cant tell the difference. She likes the plain variety you CAN have your bagel and EAT it too Sandy

ARCHIVED Pork Digestive Systems Of Pigs... Does It Remove Gluten?
2kids4me replied to HawkFire's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
my scientific /biological/anatomical explanation for the misconception that pigs have sewer canal in the leg: for any interested readers. my husband helped me solve the mystery - the "pus canal" to which the bible refers - is actually a gland of female pigs. Has nothing to do with getting rid of toxins /pus as our ancestors may have believed. The... -
ARCHIVED Pork Digestive Systems Of Pigs... Does It Remove Gluten?
2kids4me replied to HawkFire's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have seen nothing in the links that shows me how the pigs digestive system is so flawed that it allows toxins into its flesh - in ALL animals - fat is where most toxins concentrate / lead goes to the bone marrow. The pig has the same digestive tract we do - cross sections of the small intestine are like ours. If the pig has so many toxins - how does it... -

since she is sooo religious (and I am Catholic) tell her it would be offensive to God for you to cause harm to your body by ingesting gluten knowing it would damage the gift of life HE has given you.... and then walk away..... Sandy -

I am only pointing out - that you can find links outlining the danger of pigs, I can do the same for sheep, cattle and fish, vegetables and fruit. Everything in moderation, wash fruit and veges - and as Ursula pointed out -PEEL the fruit (another thread). If someone does not want to eat pork - don't. The links (from both of us) offer everyone the chance... -

Not all animals being fattened for slaughter bide their time in feedlots. The antibiotics is added to feed: -
ARCHIVED Pork Digestive Systems Of Pigs... Does It Remove Gluten?

i read the link and I realize these are dietary laws of a religious group. Deer carry a number of parasites - the liver fluke being one of them, they also harbour chronic wasting disease (a variant of BSE), goats will eat garbage, sheep carry scrapie.... if someone wants to follow a dietary program for any reason - go for it. But please make the... -
ARCHIVED Pork Digestive Systems Of Pigs... Does It Remove Gluten?
2kids4me replied to HawkFire's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
so why are cows okay? They carry zoonotic disease ann are the source for E Coli food poisoning ? You are more likely to get sick from unpasteurized apple juice, lettuce, celery, eggs or improperly cooked chicken then you are from pork. So far, I have only seen biblical references for the pig's digestion being "unclean". I see no anatomy sites to show... -
ARCHIVED Pork Digestive Systems Of Pigs... Does It Remove Gluten?
2kids4me replied to HawkFire's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I repeat - they do NOT have pus thing running down their leg! IT is false. Just because cows (and other ruminants) have 4 stomachs does not mean they eliminate toxins due to that process! They rely on fermentation to digest their food, microbes required for fermentation include: bacteria, protozoa, fungi and bacterial viruses. (mycoplasmas). Open Original... -

Most insulins today are biosynthetic and derived from Recombinant DNA technology based on the human insulin molecule. At least that is what it has said on my insulin since 1986. Beef and pork insulins have been phased out, there is one manufacturer still producing it in small quantities I am not sure where you got your facts from but my husband is a... -
ARCHIVED Thyroid Came Back To Normal After Gltn Free Diet?
2kids4me replied to Shawn's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
my daughter is hypothyroid and the dose of her synthroid was lowered after a couple of months gluten free. It is surmissed that her damaged intestine healed and was better able to absorb the medication. She has complete thyroid failure so will never be able to stop taking it. There is a condition called euthyroid sick syndrome - it occurs when someone... -
HI everyone, Thanks so much for caring! The appt went well, they scanned him from the pelvis to his toes. Including a 3D image of the knee area. Talk about hi tech devices. Matt did wonderful! He had to lie completely still for 13 minutes while they took the multiple views (32) to create the 3 D effect. The scanner reminded me of a waffle iron - I dont know...

I had to share a gigglefest moment with my ds. He came to me quite concerned that his poo was green. He is feeling fine and it was normal otherwise. So we talked about the various things that can make poop that color. We had some fun and googled it - well it turns out that the blue jello he had was the likely culprit, we continued ot read and found...

ARCHIVED Msg--i'm Having A Panic Attack
2kids4me replied to weathertopmama's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hang in there, if you are right - you may have solved a mystery! You should apply for CSI job. I know how you feel in terms of looking at pages of info - I did that after my daughter was diagnosed celiac. I was mad initially cause I felt it should have been tested for sooner. Then after seeing her return to health, I was happy. We are now in the process... -
It must be kinda scary... it will be hard to keep weight on when dealing with renal failure, as a rule most renal diets are reduced in protein to reduce the work required by the kidney because the kidney has deal with creatinine and urea (byproducts of protein metabolism). then the diet required for heart problems is usually low in fat Do you have...

What a wonderful gift to you! With friends like that, you will get through anything! I had to wait til I stopped tearing up after reading your wedding story. Thanks for the gift to us in sharing it... Sandy

Excellent points Shirley - all true. I will correct a misconception. Dogs cannot "lock their jaw". it is the short wide mouth breeds that - because of the physical structure of their jaw - have physics behind them - a boxer, mastiff, rottweiller, pit bull, Staffordshier - just to name few have powerful bite because of the shape of the jaw and can inflict...

ARCHIVED Can Any Of The Celiac Or Gluten Intolerant Kids Handle Oats?
2kids4me replied to kimber's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
boht my kids can eat scottish oatmeal (found it in health food store). Recently we tried Honeycomb cereal* as I saw they add oat flour and it is the last ingredient, otherwise no gluten. My daughter is very sensitive and shows outward symptoms with cc. So far, neither child has had any problem with it. * ingredients in cereal can vary between US nad... -
ditto to the soy. Soy is used in many candy bars. You could try plain choc chips or plain choc with no soy and see if he reacts. As a treat, I make crispy rice squares (gluten free crispy rice cereal, marshmallows, butter) and stick choc chips in before its sets.

ARCHIVED Lesions In Intestines Anyone?
2kids4me replied to wildlife-lover's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Pseudomembranous lesions are usually associated with antibiotic use. It (antibiotics) disrupts the normal flora (normal gut bacteria) in the intestine. I have not found any reference in medical literature to pseudomembranous lesions without some mention of Clostridium difficile and associated, rather severe acute clinical signs (abdominal pain, diarrhea)... -
ARCHIVED How Much Juice Does Your Toddler Drink?
2kids4me replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I guess its the statement that juice specifically can cause diabetes - any diet high in high glycemic index foods will cause weight gain /obesity / poor health = Type 2 diabetes risk. I dont drink juice much either - and if I do, I avoid apple juice as it is highest in carbs per ml. Same for my son. Fruit in its natural state is better than juice. ... -
ARCHIVED How Much Juice Does Your Toddler Drink?
2kids4me replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Just wanted to add that the notion juice can create increased risk of diabetes is false. Type 1 diabetes is autoimmune / insulin is not produced. Type 2 has high genetic component - and insulin is produced but does not work effectively. Your pancreas will produce as much or as little insulin it needs to handle the food eaten. Obesity is the risk factor... -
Wendys - frosty, chili, some of the salads. Meat patties (burger without the bun) Caution here - I watch like a hawk at wendys cause more than once , I saw them take the meat off the bun to put it in a tray. I just say : excuse me but it needs to be right off the grill otherwise my son/daughter will get violently ill. comfort foods - corn chips with...
