  1. Susan, Hope you don't get too sick from this.....of course if you need to be sick to avoid gluten, well then, I would hope you'd get sick enough to realize you can't go back to gluten. You aren't going to think gluten won't hurt you are you?
  2. This is an excerpt from an article I saved over to my computer. I'm not sure about xanthan gum....is that corn derived? Citric Acid is corn derived and a source of hidden msg. Whether they are safe depends on your intolerances. I'm intolerant to soy and avoid all forms of it.

Welcome Galnstoon! I don't know your DH questions but we have had people with multiple chemical sensitivities as well as people with some intolerances react to citric acid. It is corn derived and is a source of hidden msg. I tend to believe the msg site that another poster pulled a huge list from. I think I saved it over to my computer, if you are...
  4. Is that all for California even. They charge $80-90 up here! Now that's a good idea.
  5. Kandi, My family is gluten, soy and dairy free. It can be done, just takes some getting used to. My oldest son (4 yrs) has the double dq2 also. Just to repeat Carla, he needs to be gluten and casein (all dairy) free for life. I have a recipe page I've started and I add in recipes from vegan cookbooks I have for other people to us. I'm not vegan...
  6. Yes, Robbin, Well said. Susan, we you. Don't be so hard on yourself. Checking off your own tests. Laura, Sounds like you had a tiring but productive day. Miamia, Hope things go well with you bio thing. Julie, Acupunturist counts too. Everyone else....seems there was someone else I wanted to address...
  7. Julie, Open Original Shared Link I think we are just going to have the gene test with Seth next year since he won't be eating gluten, soy or dairy. The rest of us had ours done. I think it's interesting to see who got what genes with the kids.
  8. Her rash, has she been on this formula since she was eight months old? Is there a liquid supplement that the doctor could prescribe so she doesn't have to have the formula and you can work on other high fat foods like avocado, coconut oil? I'm at a loss too, just trying to help out. My son is 11 months and isn't to the point of chewing much (he only...
  9. Night Rachel. Looking forward to hearing about your appointment tomorrow. Your night time routine sounds relaxing......
  10. I bought The Best Gluten Free Family Cookbook and 125 Best Gluten Free Recipes by Donna Washburn. I haven't used them much so don't know if they'd appeal to you or not. I also have Annalise Roberts cookbook Gluten Free Baking Classics, which has breads, muffins, cakes, cookies type stuff.
  11. As long as you are still eating gluten I would advise you going to your doctor and asking/telling them to do a celiac blood panel. It definately sounds like gluten is the culprit. Whether you have celiac genes would determine whether you have the classic diagnosis of celiac or not. You may have gluten sensitivity genes. If your blood test comes...
  12. You may find that once her tummy feels better (without the soy/casein) that she will start to eat more. I believe those can cause the rash, not to mention them also causing the bloating and diarrhea/loose stools.
  13. I have to agree.
  14. What's an iron? We have one.... I'm wrinkled too.
  15. I know that a lot of the fruits have citric acid added to them which is corn derived and also a hidden msg ingredient. Maybe that is what is bothering her. Also dried fruits are usually high in sulfites. Try buying a can of fruit (if it doesn't have citric acid), packed in juice, not syrup and blending that....or buy fresh fruit and blend with a little...
  16. What kind of foods has she been trying to eat? I use Baby Bottom Better that is sold by Absolutely Diapers out of Canada. You can order it online....it's around $11 dollars each but does a good job. I've used it on all my kids. My youngest is the one who needed it least, probably due to the fact that we are gluten free now. I don't know if you...
  17. Ann, Just noticed that you are near Seattle. My doctor in Vancouver WA used US Biotek for ELISA Intolerance Testing. I don't know if they process tests from individuals. Open Original Shared Link if you want to look through their website. Enterolab tests for gluten, dairy, soy, egg and yeast. I am low intolerant and low allergic...
  18. Morning all! It seems that whether we need to gain or lose, it's challenging. Somehow, before being eductated here, I would have though it would be much easier to gain. Haven't checked as to whether Susan has been on this morning......maybe she's avoiding us since she KNOWS what we'll say about those Krispy's. Donna, That...
  19. I know that IgG on the ELISA allergy/intolerance test means that you are intolerant. I would assume that it would be the same on the celiac panel since they are both blood draws. I would definately listen to the doctor the said to cut out gluten. You are intolerant to it.
  20. How do you ever get the required 4 hour stretch of sleep, let alone the amount of sleep you need. I'm one who needs more. Your son's schedule sounds exhausting alone. Any idea how long this will last? Once his growth spurt is over will things calm down again? Is there any way you can take a couple days off work and rest up? I can't believe...
  21. If you are still eating gluten (doesn't sound like you are), then definately get a blood test. If you are gluten free and want some more definative answers get enterolab's full panel for $369. I got my whole family tested and we tested on the low side (I had been gluten lite and the rest of the family had just been finishing up things we still had in...
  22. Ok, IF I get to play Mom......shouldn't you be in bed now? I know, it's hard to sleep. What time zone are you in....I'm guessing Central.
  23. Sandy, You sound like you've been through the ringer. HUGS for you. You're hubby will forgive you ( I'm making assumptions since I don't know him ). After all you are sick and very tired. It's so hard to be able to get rest as it is. Kids will be in school tomorrow and IF you can take some time off work then you can play catch up tomorrow...
  24. Rinne, You need to be easier on yourself too. We all need a treat once in awhile and that's ok. Now, gluten is not a treat! It's poison! The other intolerances we have are ok unless we are severely allergic to them as well. I don't recommend constant indulgence in something that you know you are intolerant to, but we are only human and sometimes...
  25. Quick drive-by. I've got an exhausted baby. Rachel, Ick for your schedule. I hope you will be able to get your rest this week and definately avoid that stuff. Robbin says it's awful. Rinne, Safe travels. We'll look forward to your report when you return (when you have time). Robbin, Hang in there, you're doing good. ...
