  1. I'm getting a tattoo in September, and (don't laugh) other than the obvious health concerns, I don't need to worry about the gluten thing since I'm not eating this...right?

    ARCHIVED Upset

I too deal with the "too skinny"comments...and no matter what mood I'm in, they really pi$$ me off. When Nisla invents the gluten-free Krispy Kremes, we'll have a party. Keep smiling
  3. We all know where you're coming from I live in Canada and our big holiday is July 1st. We went to a family bbq and i brought my own food but made it to fit what i knew they would be serving. Also i have gotten really good at making gluten-free desserts and so i brought a Canada Day Flag cake and it was devoured. This requires a lot of planning and gone...
  4. thanks!
  5. And then you die? I don't need to worry about this since my biopsy was negative right?
  6. Ok. No laughing...what is refractoy sprue?
  7. My gastro guy is having issues commiting 100% to me having celiac disease . A specialist did the blood test which came back positive for Celiacs. My gastro guy decided to do a biopsy and it was negative. Is the blood test proof positive?
  8. Hi: In my other post, I stated I had not had a bad gluten reaction for three years but was also on a low dose of antihistamines for that period. I came off them last year and shortly thereafter the D and throwing up reactions started happening every few months. This year it seems I'm getting sick so often. But as I said, nothing now for three weeks and...
  9. This may seem crazy, but recently I posted something about taking antihistamines and fewer reactions. Right now I'm at three weeks without being sick and have been taking antihistamines for the same amount of time (for seasonal allergies)...I'm wondering if there's a co-relation here--or just wishfull thinking.
  10. Thanks for the clarification I have been gluten-free for 5 years now and am rather paranoid about staying that way--I even bring my own food to my Mom's when I visit. I was at the docs yesterday and he is testing my B12 levels, thyroid, calcium etc as I'm having problems with low weight (5'2" and weigh 97lbs) and hair loss--which really makes me mad. Guess...
  11. I'm beginning to realize I'm rather naive since joining this site. In a few posts, there have been references made to dying from celiac disease...how? (be kind)
  12. ...like giving an alcoholic a little sip of alcohol--it won't hurt them Perhaps if non celiacs spent the time we spend studying our bathroom decor, they would totally get it!

    ARCHIVED Please Help

It is possible to get D when nervous or stressed--happens to my friend and her sister all the time and neither one of them have any tummy issues I suffer from panic attacks and think it's all part of the whole celiac disease thing--worry about whether my tummy etc is going to act up while I'm out, where the closest bathroom is...usually I'm pretty good...
  14. Has anyone tried taking antihistamines? The reason I ask, is from 2002-2004 I did not have any serious gluten reactions--I was on antihistamines then for my allergies. Last year, I went off them and had a number of really bad gluten episodes...the problem has carried over to this year. A week ago, I started back on the antihistamines (Doc ordered) and...
  15. I too have a problem with the iron supplements, and since you did like cream of wheat, i may not be too far off the radar here by suggesting pablum with iron. I have been using it to help my iron levels.

    ARCHIVED Probiotics

Thanks for the input, as always, everyone is most helpful I contacted my health food store and they have two probiotics that are gluten free--here i come. Thanks again.
  17. ...and will it cure my diabetes too?
  18. I use a face mask--like they do in the hospitals if cooking with gluten products

    ARCHIVED Probiotics

Has anyone tried probiotics? What were your experiences?
  20. At our house we have stainless steel and rinse really well and use the dishwasher. I also have my own butter container, own peanut butter jar, jam etc. Everything gluten-free is clearly marked to make things a bit easier. Are you using your own toaster? Look in your cutlery drawer too--I was amazed at the crumbs that found their way there.
  21. Taz: I hope you're okay. Once you get this under control, you may want to try fresh pineapple or pineapple juice to help keep you a bit more regular. I know not all things workl for all people but this really helps me after an episode of D and i don't 'go' for several days--let us know how you made out.

    ARCHIVED Ready To Scream

I don't have any arthiritic symptoms. The only intense abdominal pain I get is when my body is having one of these attacks. Like you, when the sulphur burps go away I know i will not throw up again and the 'D' will settle down quickly too.

    ARCHIVED Ready To Scream

Ooops...techo challenged--sorry. I had my gallbladder tested and it was fine. The specialist felt these symptoms were caused by my body acting to gluten--it just seems so different from everyone else's post and problems--to a degree anyway. Argh!

    ARCHIVED Ready To Scream

I don't eat eggs--unless they are in a cake mix etc and this is very infrequent and these episodes so far have not occured after having eggs. I am keeping a food journal and trying to find a link, but so far no luck. Since I'm also diabetic it would be really hard to cut out everything and reintroduce foods one at a time to see what's causing the problem...
