  4. Thanks. I will check out Heinz--the Pablum is for me I love hot cereal and do make cream of rice but really miss my oatmeal.
  5. I need your help...will anyone recommend a gluten free pablem? Milupa did sau gluten free right on the box and now they don't. Thanks.
  6. Gatorade!
  7. I understand your frustration. I have had reactions to products that are gluten free and left wondering was it the new gluten free product I just tried or did I get glutened in an other way I was unaware of. I find I eat the same "safe" things over and over and am very hesitant to try anything new for fear of getting sick--makes one rather paranoid doesn...
  8. A lot of the Kraft products are gluten free--if you write them or go online and request a gluten free list from them they will mail one out to you...this really helped reduce my grocery bill. In Canada, at tax time, we can write off the difference between the cost of "normal" food and the price of the gluten free items--last year this increased my refund...
  9. ...at the cottage, opening weekend before the indoor plumbing was up and running--got real familiar with the outhouse
  10. My co-workers think I've lost it (sitting at my desk giggling) this thread has been way too amusing--better than crying eh? While on the topic of gross bowel stuff--may I introduce...gas? Prior to this whole celiac thing, I very rarely had gas--no one in my family had ever heard me ah, well...fart. But now, I could most definitely impress the male members...

    ARCHIVED Mini Cures

Is this a recovery thing or do you maintain this when you're sick? My reaction to gluten puts me in the bathroom for about 5-8 hours and I don't eat during that time as too sick to do so.

    ARCHIVED Mini Cures

I thought having D was my body's way of getting rid of the "poison" so I have never taken anything to stop it. Does the immodium work or just prolong the process?

    ARCHIVED Mini Cures

Hope this hasn't been posted before...I thought if we share our "mini cures" on how we cope with our disease and glutening we may be able to help each other. For example; I have been taking an antihistamine for the past 6 months and have noticed an improvement in the number of times I have been sick...went from every few weeks to every 2-3 months. Also...
  16. Cody: I have a dog tag for my diabetes and celiacs and I ordered it on line. Can't remember the name of the company just Google "medical alert ID" tons or stuff out there. L.A.
  17. On the same positive note I was at a family function this weekend and my Gatorade bottle was on the table when my youngest nephew moved it out of his way with hands covered in cake...my oldest nephew (15) saw the whole thing and threw the bottle away. He explained to me what happened and handed me a new bottle of Gatorade. What a sweetie! L.A.
  18. Hey GFBetsy: What is the featherlight mix listed in the recipe? L.A.
  19. Another Canuck from Brooklin, Ontario
  20. I know how you feel. I was diagnosed as a diabetic at age 14 and five years ago found out I have celiacs (I'm 47). According to my specialist, the two strike together quite often. I had the diabetic diet down so adapting for celiacs was a bit easier. You're right though a lot of prepared gluten-free stuff has a high sugar content. I tend to make a lot...

Trashy breakfast cereal...Alpha Bits, Captain Crunch, Fruit Loops Or maybe it's just the fact my choice is gone---sigh.
  23. I'm not on any new meds and this is a fairly new problem. Real frustrating--but thanks for the ideas
  24. I just called and made an appointment to go see the Doc and go over all my results--thanks!
  25. I try to eat well balance meals--I am also a diabetic, so my meals are geared to that as well.
