  2. Okay, I think I need a degree in bio-chemistry to figure out if this shampoo my dermatologist recommended is safe--of course he had no clue if it was gluten free and the company has not responded to my email. Here are the ingredients: WATER, SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE, COCO-GLUCOSIDE, SODIUM CHLORIDE, DISTEARYL ETHER, BEHENYL, ALCOHOL, COCAMIDE MIPA, AMINOMETHYL...

  4. My crazy celiac solution...I put a baby face cloth with soap and water on it in a bag and then another cloth with just water in another baggie and am able to wash and rinse my hands
  5. This was happening to me as well. It is actually what started the long road to discovering I had Celiacs. I began taking probiotics in Feb. of this year and have not had any episodes since--may be worth a try. Take care, L.A.
  6. Okay, I have come to the realization I need anti aging cream for my face. Anyone mind sharing what products they use that are gluten-free and work? Thanks, L.A.

    ARCHIVED Poll

Thanks for the input--you guys are great. I guess I need to find a place that offers gluten-free items and perhaps go in and talk to the staff to get a good comfort level and give it a try--what have I got to lose...my dinner? L.A.

    ARCHIVED Poll

Hi: I ate at a so called "safe" restaurant once...the owner had celiac's so the staff was suppose to have the whole gluten free thing down pat--not! They put regular croutons on my salad. Now I'm afraid to eat out. I read a number of posts where people are being glutened at restaurants even though the food should have been safe. So my question is--who...

  12. Hi Everyone: I really miss oatmeal...and was wondering who eats oats and who doesn't. Too many conflicting reports on whether oats are safe and I'm afraid to try them for fear of getting sick. Would love your input. Just leaving work now, but will check back in the morning. Thanks, L.A.
  13. We make our own--ketchup, brown sugar and Kraft Zesty Italian dressing
  14. Some days I feel like living in a bubble because you're right, this is very overwhelming. My kids make sandwiches and othe gluteney things and are not 10% about being careful so I wipe my counters down before I do anything in my kitchen--you may want to do that at work. When I get home from grocery shoppping I just wash my hands and am very careful about...

  19. Okay, so now the paranoid thing kicks in, don't you worry about cc on the glasses in a restaurant? Can you tell I have only eaten out once since dx...
  20. This Saturday, some people from my ball team are planning a surprise dinner and drinks at a restaurant for one of our team members who is getting married. Nothing gluten-free on the menu, so if I go I sit while everyone else eats and feel like an idiot. Doesn't help that I weigh 104 lbs and the wait staff gives me the "hmm bets she's anorexic look". I...
  21. I "hang" out at the barn with my daughters and wear light leather gloves to remind me not to put my fingers in my mouth etc. I'd identify any gluten sources (if any) and work around them--giddy up!
  22. I don't blame everything that happens to me on celiac disease, but I do watch the products I use and will always buy the gluten-free version--my choice. I think that's called, oh, let's say...acting responsible.
  23. I wear gloves at the barn and get my kids to deal with the hay etc--even have to be careful when grooming the horses. Do lots of hand washing at the barn
  24. I have 2 healthy awesome daughters (18 & 20). Enjoy being pregnant and don't worry. Hugs.
  25. Yes. I usually wear leather gloves at the barn mainly because I would never stick a gloved-finger in my mouth. Then I can remove my gloves and wash my hands before I eat anything. I live in a subdivision too and keep the bad ponies at a stable close by. Take care.
