  1. Thanks for the input--much appreciated I'm off shopping. L.A.
  2. I'm considering taking a probiotic and wondered what brands are gluten-free--having a bit of a time searching this on the web. I live in Canada so would prefer a brand I can actully get. Ideas any one?
  3. I too had a positive blood test and a negative biopsy--but biopsy was done after going gluten free for 6 months. The number from my initial blood test were 59. The blood test was redone after a year and my number was 23 and then last year the number was 7. Doc says normal range is in the 20's.
  4. My parents just returned from an Alaskan cruise and Mom said they had an awesome gluten-free menu. She even went and talked to the chef and kitchen staff and was assured no CC issues either...hope this means she's sending me on a cruise L.A.

    ARCHIVED Omg.....

Hey Jerry: I agree, the freak aisle (health food) as my kids call it is pretty scary I went through many brands of gluten-free bread before I found one I lovemade by STERK Bakery...sadly though, only in Canada. Happy hunting. L.A.

    ARCHIVED Toronto Doctor?

Hi: I'm looking for a celiac specialist in Toronto, Ontario (Canada). Anyone know of (a good) one? :l
  8. Try drinking a Red Bull. Hope you feel better. L.A.

    ARCHIVED Kiss & Tell

My hubby brushes his teeth and uses mouth wash after he eats anything with gluten--so we're good to go!
  10. It gets even better when your hubby stops asking if the puppy went and instead asks if I did!
  11. Pooh freaks! All of us!

    ARCHIVED Kiss & Tell

Is anyone else afraid to kiss people--like when you're leaving a party and people have been eating and drinking gluteny things all night--I find I avoid the full on contact kiss. My friend pointed this out and now I feel like the big paranoid celiac disease person. Thoughts?
  13. Is whey powder gluten free? I can't seem to get a definite answer. Thanks, L.A.
  14. I find camommille (spelling?) tea really helps. Also, walking--if you can--does help get rid of the bloating. Try a heating pad on your tummy too. Flat ginger ale and plain chips are my cure all for upset tummy. Good luck--sending you a hug.
  15. I have become an expert at making gluten-free pizza and cakes all due to my cravings.
  16. Ok. From reading so many posts, it seems gluten affects a lot of people differently. Myself, I get this awful tasting gas in the form of burps, then I throw up, have D, throw up some more etc and that's my reaction. Whole episode from the yucky burps to the last toilet visit is about 10 hours. I just wondered what happens to others when they get glutened...
  17. LOL then falling on the floor--too funny.
  18. I was dx with celiac disease December 5, 2000. That year for Christmas, I received enough gluten-free food and treats from my entire family to open my own store. Merry Christmas! L.A.
  19. That was the one. What does pinned mean?
  20. I just did a post for "Coping with" and i can't see it...what did i do wrong? How do I fix it?
  21. If you had to visualize "gluten", what would it be to you? To me, I think it would look like those blue gooey dishwasher soap gel packs Merry (healthy) Christmas! L.A.
  22. Fat squirrels in Guelph...my daughter is going to Vet school there--I'll tell her to keep a look out for them Seriously, I hear you. You may want to look into making your own gluten-free trail mix. L.A.
  23. Hey Sweetfudge: For the most part, I don't cook/bake with anything containing gluten...the exception is Christmas baking with my kids. I wear one of those face masks, make the kids pour and mix the flour in the garage and wipe the counters etc real often with paper towel and soap and water--yeah I'm a bit of a freak in that department but it really helps...
  24. OMG--a girls night out at Wendy's! Where's Ursula from? L.A.
  25. We should try for the New Year--email me. L.A.
