  1. We are going to Disneyworld in December (2007) and I've been working very closely with a Disney agent. She's helping me navigate the process of how to assure a safe and enjoyable trip. I don't know about Disneyland, but DisneyWORLD is extremely accommodating. I've read nothing but terrific reviews. But, of course... planning ahead is KEY. I will have...
  2. Merry Christmas! I hope your family has a great one.

  3. We are getting ready to head out for thanksgiving and I'm trying to determine what foods we should/shouldn't bring with us. My inlaws have a Trader Joe's near their home and tell us that they have an "extensive" gluten free section. The last time we went on vacation, we were told that a specific store had an "extensive" gluten free section and it turned...
  4. Nope. It's really not that bad. =) =) I could have easily eaten the whole thing myself, had I been given the opportunity!
  5. Well, I got the results of my barium study. And, I just don't get it AT ALL. Bear in mind, I had my endoscopy in September. I was dx with GERD due to esophageal stricture, a "patchulous" LES, and hiatal hernia. So, they call with the results and say... "You aren't refluxing, there are no strictures, and everything looks perfectly normal with the exception...
  6. I like the Kinnikinnick pizza crusts. They are in the frozen foods section. Though, I'm lucky enough to have a gluten-free baker in the area, so I usually buy our crusts from her. =)
  7. I think all children go through periods where they'll eat more (or less) than other times. My son is almost 15 months old, and is going through the same thing. Although, he sure doesn't tell me if he has a tummy ache, he can't vocalize that well yet. Since you mention corn... I'm wondering if you are keeping all forms of "bad" gluten (rye, barley, oats...
  8. We did end up going there for dinner. I was SOOOOO thrilled!! We went early, I figured it would be a better way to head off x-contam issues. My daughter kept asking our server if she was sure the crust was really gluten free. It was so cute! She was SO happy when the pizza was set down in front of her. I mean seriously happy!! She took her first bite...
  9. My daughter and I fit this category. We both had 1 of 4 (very) positives on the blood tests. 3 of the 4 were the top level of the normal reference range. Both of us had "issues" in the duodenum (hers more severe) - but neither of us had villi damage. Therefore, no dx for either of us. We are both gluten-free. And, since she went on the gluten...
  10. Hmmm, I don't know. My younger child eats that all the time. It's one thing, that's not babyfood, that he WILL eat, and that doesn't bother him. Rice Dream has .002% gluten, from barley malt during processing.
  11. Ok, I'll remember that if I get to feelin' like I need another one!!! =)
  12. waldopizza.net I was just coming here to post this!!!!! 75th and Wornall folks!! We are going there for dinner tonite!!! Carreen, at Olivia's Oven, is my HERO!!!! Her stuff is SO great, I always have a stash of crusts in my freezer, but there is just something SO different about having them cooked in a pizza oven!! We are having a huge delivery...
  13. OMGosh, reading some of the one you just sent nearly has me in tears. I've been attempting to start the fight with our insurance company over Neocate for our son. However, we just learned that as of 1.1 - we'll have new insurance. Currently he's drinking only Rice Milk. He's allergic to dairy and soy, as well as nuts and eggs. He has constant diarrhea...
  14. Thank you, I greatly appreciate your help. Once I have the results of the barium study, I will have to go in to see my GI. I realize that this is pretty much like Celiac with regards to the testing, kind of hit or miss. Another friend (from a food allergy group) sent me information on the Clinic in Cincinnati. I'm in Kansas City - but I'd be willing to take...
  15. I agree with everything just said. I used to work for Weight Watchers, and one of the biggest complaints of people who were eating "less" than their daily required number of points was that they could not understand how they were gaining weight. People would seriously cut back on the number of calories taken in, while working out to the point of excess...
  16. Oh, honestly... I don't know. It was mentioned that it might be an issue I'm having, so I'm having blood tests, stool tests, I had this horrible barium thing today - and I have to wait to hear back from my GI as to where I go from there. Like I said... I've already had the endoscopy, they know I have a stricture, but they thought it was caused by GERD. Now...
  17. I have a feeling I will be in for the hard way as well. I actually had a HORRIBLE reaction to shellfish - shrimp in particular. And, the RAST test came back totally negative. My allergist didn't want to risk a skin test, even after a negative RAST, but I have a feeling this is the type of thing I'm in for. =(
  18. Thank you! I so appreciate the responses. I'm going to hold off a bit, because I'm now being tested for Eosinophilic Esophagitis, and I very well may have to have allergy testing done, again. I've been tested for environmental stuff several times, but not food. This is so much fun. (note my sarcasm)
  19. Thank you! I had the barium tests this morning. ICK!!! I had an endoscopy earlier this year, looking for Celiac, but my GI was concerned with other issues. Esophageal Stricture & GERD were noted. The only biopsies taken were from my duodenum, looking for Celiac. I've been on reflux meds for a while now... I was deeply affected by it during...
  20. Once again.... I was excited for a new product. But, again...disappointed at the use of nuts. =( *sigh*
  21. Anyone dealing with this, in addition to gluten issues?? It was originally believed that I'm dealing with GERD as a side effect of the gluten intolerance. But, I seem to be resistant to anti-reflux medication. Honestly, I knew I had reflux but had no idea it was as bad as it is, since I don't get heartburn or indigestion. I do have chest pain, and...
  22. I am lactose intolerant, and it's one of the biggest problems (with regards to foods) that I have in my life. I love cheese. I love ice cream, and custard. I hate having lactose issues. I buy our bread from a gluten free bakery, and they make our (special ordered) bread with rice milk. My husband tried to bake some for me at home, but it didn't go over...
  23. My daughter's only elevated level was the IgG. Also, under 11 is normal - my daughter's was 72. An endoscopy came back negative for villi damage, but her intestines were inflamed, ulcerated, red - so a gluten free diet was highly suggested. You can still breastfeed, as long as you remove ALL gluten from your diet. It does pass, and it will get into her...
  24. When I was in my early 20's - I had allergy testing done. I was put on an elimination diet to rule out food intolerances. I was given a very specific list of foods I could eat. The list was very short, and included rice krispies (which I would not eat now!), nondairy creamer, grape juice, italian bread, a certain brand of potato chips, and handful of other...
  25. Ok, thank you. I won't worry about those then. I'm now starting to wonder about this EE (esophigial something or other) that people are talking about. I seem to vaguely remember our pediatrician saying something about it. And, he put our baby on Singulair as a trial. But, I noticed no differences in anything. So I stopped giving it to him. He really...
