  2. Sounds like (looks like?) it was a great trip! I is tuckered. 3 days of full on siding repair. I wanted to finish the caulking and priming today, but decided I just wasn't up for any more time on the ladder. Made two batches of jam, picked more berries and plums, and cleaned the sticky mess that was the kitchen. Just finished hanging the dishtowels...
  3. And marketing. We'll need some good models.
  4. Brilliance and beauty - all in one! We'll combine the two ideas and sell "Edible Penis Slings! Practical Protein with that extra rush of sugar energy!!" Made some blackberry jam, and now I'm making up trying my hand at no-pectin apple-plum jam.
  5. Apparently 'an afternoon' in the Northwest means all three of our days over 70, plus some finishing time in a warm oven. The blackberry fruit leather turned out great, with just a few bugs stuck in the goo.
  6. My gastro symptoms were mild - it's the long term neuro things that got to me.
  7. Put most of your energy into finding a good one. Ask people, ask about their schooling, ask ask ask. I'd personally be leery of someone who has so many "skills".
  8. Even with this your friends/family "need" a stranger's opinion that gluten makes you sick? Why don't you just tell these people to take a flying leap, and you see no reason to make yourself ill because they seem to feel they have the right to comment on what you eat.
  9. It seems to me if you have no improvements with the gluten-free diet, there is no reason to continue it. It is possible to have intolerances other than gluten/wheat, and if DD's issues clear up without egg and milk, then go with that. Also, you are less likely to test positive to a food you don't consume. That may be why soy and milk didn't come up positive...
  10. You and Tom are citing reports of the same study. May I suggest you simply read the original paper? Actually the tests DID reach significance for DGP: This line may have been misleading to the second source of the review: But it's stated under this section compare blood to intestinal damage: And this is what the authors recommend:
  11. So there is this grouchy neighbour that doesn't want anyone near his house, but his yard is full of fruit trees. He never ever picks the fruit, and it all just falls to the ground and rots. Two days ago my other neighbour was out with her daughter filling a bowl with plums. I whispered to the daughter "where's the best spot". She motioned me over to one...
  12. mmmmmm blackberry shortcake...
  13. Haven't gotten any work done on the house the last two days, but I have been Suzie homemaker. The pirate and I picked about 10 pounds of blackberries yesterday, froze 6, and we're eating our way through the last 4. Just went out and got maybe 8 more pounds, so I'll make fruit leather. We'll get more tomorrow for coffee cake and jam. Also, um ...acquired...
  14. Had a 9am appointment once - first person, and sat around waiting for half an hour. The receptionist told me that the doc didn't usually get in until 9:30 or so.... Had a new doc in a few weeks.
  15. Those look yum! I bet you could use Coco Pebbles for the rice krispies and add chocolate flavor.
  16. I think a lot of people become more sensitive. Another perk of the diet and getting healthy - you become a cheap date!
  17. Well, they aren't, of course, but you are welcome to limit your intake of President cheese if you want. There are lots of threads already about bleu cheese, and here's a cool site I found about making Gorgonzola: Open Original Shared Link
  18. To do an EMA, they put the test subjects blood on a slice of monkey intestine (going from memory here, may not be exact). they wash off the blood (probably serum) and then see how much endomysial antibody stuck. If they can dilute the serum (1:10, 1:40, etc) and still get a reading of some EMA, then the test subject had a lot of EMA to start with. Does...

  21. I have an entirely different take on this. I think much of what's on the supermarket shelves today should not be labeled "food". I pulled up the ingredients for a couple Oroweat products. Just bread...right? Whole grain goodness...right? Yummy....as long as you ignore all the chemical additives: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared...
  22. A quick look at the Glutino site says that the Duo cheese pizza is on a brown rice crust, and the feta & spinach is on a corn crust. Is that the case for the pizzas you have?
  23. Allergy tests for food are notoriously inaccurate. Think about it - the reaction happens in your intestine, and they are trying to test your skin or blood. The only true test for food allergies (IMHO) is to do an elimination diet, and then add the foods back one at a time. Record reactions.
