  1. Welp, if they're family, go as the relatives nobody wants to talk about. You can show up in curlers with a cigarette hanging out of your mouth and hand the hostess a burnt pie, or a twinkie cake. Mark can be a half-buttoned wreck with a bottle in a paper bag, and pinch all the women's behinds.
  2. It's funny, 'cause just the other day I was trying to remember if the (pullet formerly known as peeper) was hatched at the beginning, or the end of July. Now I know. Also just got my first egg from one of Mulberry's first brood. I know it's a 'first' egg because it's the size of a walnut. Sadly, it's not green, but it is a lovely pale, cream color...
  3. I don't think the semantics are relevant here. You got sick. You identified the situation that made you sick. I'm guessing you will avoid such situations in the future. In the end, it doesn't matter what anyone else says, or does. You are responsible for your health, and you seem willing to take that responsibility seriously. You're doing the right...

    ARCHIVED Alcohol

Good tequila is made from agave.
  5. This is so true. The emotions that you go through are so complex. I lived in a shared house in college, and one of the women ended her own life. I was sad, horrified, relieved (if she was in so much pain that she felt this was her only option, I was glad she was out of that pain), guilty (for being relieved, for not seeing her pain, for not stopping...
  6. I'm giving up on sending healing hugs to LoLo. I'm sending off magic powers. I'm sure she'll only use them for good....
  7. Can always pick her up and fling her over your shoulder to make her giggle.
  8. Ours isn't bad. Open Original Shared Link Loved the bantam chickens
  9. I was gonna say something like this. I like to buy my beef from a farm that I can go to and see the cows in the field. There's one that sells at different farmers' markets, so I can go to a number of different places to get my meat, depending on the day.
  10. Grass finished will state that on the package (and will be more expensive )
  11. Sounds like a great day! I recently tackled our state fair with a bag full of snacks and determination. My bud and I took the bus to skip the parking hassles, and did a lot of sit-down stuff in the afternoon. Still a really long day, and it took three days for me to stop feeling wiped out, but well worth the fun.
  12. I had a similar experience while traveling in Eastern Europe. I accidentally ate gluten three times while traveling and never had a reaction. I assumed that my reaction to wheat is more than just gluten, and the protein makeup of wheat grown in Europe was sufficiently different that I didn't react to it. The problem with buying imported flours is that...
  13. {{{Hugs Bunzer}}} I am so sorry you're going through this.
  14. All I get are hair balls. Totally slack day today. I'm lying around in my underwear, reading, with the cats following me back and forth from couch to bed to nap with me. Came back out to the LR to check on the world, Bo staggered out after me, gazed blearily at the couch, and flopped down on the floor next to the computer. Butch followed a few minutes...
  15. Dunno. Thinking of you coated in foamy dog puke is kinda amusing to me.
  16. Bottom line, if it bothers you - don't drink it. If you are super sensitive, or early in the gluten-free process, you might want to avoid drinking in general, or at least some of the wines others have had issue with. You can test specifics for yourself, when you're up for it.
  17. Does this have anything to do with wine, a couch, and a trashy novel?
  18. I feed them to my chickens. You could freeze them, and use them to make a custard or some other yolky dish for a party or work function. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  19. You can always just eat the egg white, which has less cholesterol. Or do the egg every other day. How about a piece of chicken breast? Or some fish? Baked potato with black beans? Quinoa (higher in protein than most cereals)? Pumpkin seeds on your cereal? Almonds on your cereal?
  20. Good luck with that... I envision her new puppy friend fussing to have her brought in to sleep with him...
  21. Make sure it's kitty tuna. People tuna is no so good for frequent treats.
  22. My kitties get a spoonful of canned food for a treat.
  23. It's likely that much of what you are doing is wrong. Gracie will begin to supervise your activities and may offer guidance with a gentle paw swipe or two.
  24. Some cats don't purr, but kneading is what they did as babies to get milk from Mom, so it's a happy, comforting behavior to them.
  25. I thought your MIL lived close now?
