  1. peanut oil if the flavor would add to what you're making.
  2. I agree, everything in moderation, including people who feel they have the right to dictate your life. Figure out what food she hates the most and ask her how moderately she consumes it.
  3. It's my goal to be a miserable old cat when I go, so I totally empathise with her. bye Luce.
  4. I had bean soup and M&Ms
  5. What would be the point? There's no single identified gene that causes celiac disease or gluten intolerance, and of the known genes that are associated with celiac disease, they are just that, associated. Having the genes doesn't mean you'll get the disorder, and not having the genes doesn't mean you won't get the disorder.
  6. I eat out. I have a few restaurants that I know are perfectly safe, and when I'm feeling brave I'll try a new place . You have to figure out what works for your life.
  7. I second Sky's description AND her suggestion that your daughter be gluten-free after the testing is done.
  8. If you've been losing weight and feeling progressively worse for a couple months, why on earth would you continue eating that way? You need to accept responsibility for taking care of yourself, not blindly follow something someone else told you. And why are you taking steroids without being followed by a doctor? You can cause permanent damage to yourself...
  9. Now that would be seriously classy.
  10. Endoscopy is pretty much it for testing for celiac disease. I'm sure others will chime in with books, but in the mean time, try searching the forum - you'll find some awesome recipes. And welcome to the group!

  13. Rice with melted cheese and salsa.
  14. It's a good choice. A hot date with a baker wouldn't get YOU anything.
  15. I'm pretty sure they'd have to tell you if it were wheat. I can't imagine it wold be any type of flour since that would absorb moisture and oil from the meat and get disgusting very quickly.
  16. I'm so sorry. It helps me to drink lots of water. Consider ibuprofen for the pain and maybe someone knows a gas treatment that's gluten-free.
  17. meatloaf with homemade pickles.
  18. *snicker* Sorry Rache *snicker**snicker**snicker*
  19. I started in industry, but doing an assay that required antibiotic free, so I've never bothered adding them back. I bit of googling has convinced me that abx are inactivated after a couple of times in the water bath anyway, so it's more of a psychological security blanket than a real one.
  20. I haven't used antibiotics in my cultures for years.
  21. And a Canadienne won a prize:
  22. I think this was the most bizarre entry in the contest:
  23. My favorite part is the music.
