ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
rinne replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
If there is Celia I am sure you will find the name for it. I'm the same way about doctors, I hope everything goes well, see ya later. -
The idea for a food journal is a really good one. I was wondering about MSG, it makes me very irritable too and I believe is in some gluten free products. Is he taking any vitamins that might be cross contaminated? How is his energy level? Prior to my sister's husband's diagnosis with Grave's Disease he became very irritable and I understand there is...

Celia, I would love the job, we'll need a committee of course, anyone? We will have to have a community hall for events, the decorating committee could take charge of that and the gardening committee could do the landscaping. I love to dance so you can expect lots of dances. Back to the CT scan, the reason I refused to take the chemicals was that... -
I'm with Rachel on this, in fact the more my husband tries to be considerate the more I feel like a monster, and the truth is that nothing that comes out of my mouth really reflects me at that time, it just reflects the gluten rage. I'm sorry that you are going through this, perhaps you and your husband could talk about a strategy for dealing with those...

Okay, interesting to know that it just slows the ripening by putting them in the fridge. I always thought it would make them mushy. I've read that you can use the inside of the banana peel to polish shoes.

ARCHIVED Disappointed With Wild Oats Market
rinne replied to marciab's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What an absolutely brilliant idea. I think it is just a question of demographics or how many celiacs and gluten intolerant individuals does it take to support a pizza place? I read an article not long ago, on this forum I think if not suffering a mental pause, talking about the projected increase in sales of gluten free products as diagnosis of Celiac disease... -
Great, I love bananas but why can't you put them in the fridge? Actually I never would put them in the fridge but I do put them in the freezer for smoothies.

Celia, I'm soooo sorry you have a migraine. I have been there and know how awful they can be. I find an ice pack, one of those soft ones, wrapped round the back of my neck and head often helps, I think it cools the blood to brain and I guess when my brain is hot it is HOT. Don't feel you have to answer this if reading along is all you can do. ... -

I am gone for a mere 12 hours and Rachelville appears. Cissi, I will rest easy knowing you and the geese are on patrol. Today my sweetie and I took a country drive, we travelled about a hundred miles west on the TransCanada Highway to my brother's place in the country. He's moving so we went to help and check out his yard sale, naturally... -

I feel like I need to start taking notes so I can remember all the things I want to respond to. I know I'm not going to remember now and I have to leave for the day. My life is starting to interfere with this thread. The sun is hotter I believe. Last summer I painted the house and the heat had a scalding quality to it. I spent tons of time outside... -
ARCHIVED Help Very New To This
rinne replied to twinmami's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Welcome Twinmami, Ursula has set you on a good path and this is a great site with lots of really helpful advice. I'm still in the being overwhelmed stage myself but after being largely gluten free (a couple of accidental glutenings) I am feeling so much better I can't believe I felt as badly as I did for as long as I did. -
ARCHIVED Another Newbie
rinne replied to cathywj's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This is a great place to learn about Celiac and there are many knowledgeable and caring people who will answer your questions, and already have. I think this site is far more helpful than any doctor I have seen yet and people here are far more knowledgeable than many doctors. If you take the time to read people's signatures at the bottom of their posts... -

Slumber party. Well, I am half serious and I am not so organized either but maybe we don't have to be yet, we need to heal. I don't think it would be that difficult, think how many are already here and each of us from youngest to oldest shares so much and yet we are unique. -
That is beyond outrageous, perhaps we should have dentists sign agreements with us that state they will not poison us. I don't think suing is the answer generally but I also don't think you should be paying for work that you aren't happy with and a dentist so arrogant as to disregard your request not to be poisoned should not be rewarded financially...

That doesn't seem like so much money and if we sold books and made money we could have a party and if we made a lot of money we could buy that land and build a gluten free town and call it Rachelville. -
ARCHIVED Have Major Trouble With Legumes...
rinne replied to Shannon27's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Welcome Shannon, yes this is a wonderful place and I am glad you found it. It sounds to me like you have a very clear sense of your body and what it needs, I think that is a major step forward in healing. I was always round and considered myself an emotional eater but since I have gone gluten, dairy and egg free I no longer find that that is the case... -

I couldn't handle the digestive enzymes either so I stopped taking them and after the discussion earlier, much earlier in the thread about MSG and gelatin I stopped all my supplements. I also noticed that in the sulfites thread that gelatin has sulfites in it. I have been getting better since I stopped them though I have had a setback largely due... -

Patti, I find this really helpful. I have the same experience. I'm sure part of the problem is that I don't make a half cup of rice I make three cups and then it is sitting there and I keep eating it. Buckwheat is part of the rhubarb family and not a wheat at all so technically it should be fine, I seem to have some reaction to it though, and I... -

I find listing couscous confusing as I had understood it was made from wheat but maybe there is something I don't know about. It is important information because gluten free products contain quinoa, amaranth and teff not to mention just eating them. I tried some quinoa a while back and it was when I was more inflamed and it felt like I had broken glass... -

Julie, I completely agree. What does that say about the world we are living in? I wonder what kind of choices we may be forced to make if we want to live, if we want to be healthy. Years ago my sweetie and I had a small organic farm and it was pure joy to eat from the gardens in the summer and then enjoy the potatoes and carrots and beets all winter... -

Too funny. To the twins, I am so glad that you have found each other. Wouldn't it be ironic if so many of the things we reach for, like alternative grains and supplements are in fact keeping us sick?
