  1. Yup. I think black beans fall into the easier to digest category and never eat kidney beans that aren't thoroughly cooked, they can make you really sick. My stomach has been worse the last couple of days and I am sure it is because I have been pushing the limits and eating things that my tummy is not really up for, I wonder if that is true for you...
  2. What is Poland water? Is that a brand, like Aquafina? I went and bought some Aquafina this morning and I am committed to the "water challenge".
  3. Hi Stacie, lucky you, my sweetie and I spent a week in Newfoundland last summer and loved it.
  4. Water. We have an Everpure system with a charcoal filter, it has a separate tap at the sink and has provided what I thought was good water but now I am beginning to wonder. I drank distilled water for years without a problem but kept hearing that overall it wasn't good for you because of the lack of minerals and we switched to this system about three...
  5. Too funny, I'm getting to be the same way. I almost cooked up some bacon today but then thought twice, just in case, and am glad to find this thread talking about it. What stopped me was concern about the nitrates and what brought up the concern was the reaction I had to half a glass of white wine. I used to be able to drink white wine, the red started...
  6. I have found it incredibly helpful to hear each person's story Nancy, this is a wonderful thread, thank you to everyone. Robin, your story brought me to tears, I am so sorry that you have suffered in this way and continue to. When I was a very young woman I gave up custody of my son to my ex-husband, I was incapable of raising him and very...
  7. Congratulations Evie, 60 years, WOW, I hope you have a wonderful celebration. This thread seems to be increasing incrementally, the more posts there are - the more postings are made. Celia, what a lovely photo. Christina, thank you for posting those links. I think so many of our problems come from trusting that those who market health to...
  8. Sorry, no answer but I was just thinking of buying some and appreciate your question. Thanks.
  9. I'm confused, the information I found said dextrose is made from corn but corn contains fructose so is it the process that changes it from not being okay to being helpful? Do you sprinkle it on?
  10. Hi, thanks for this question. I'm wondering if I should be asking it? I've been gluten free for about two months now and dairy free for about a month and I am definitely better but I know there is still something going on. I definitely react to dates, honey, kiwi, tomatoes, sugar beets and I suspect others on your list now that I see it but I just...
  11. Me too, C has always been my issue. The only time I ever had D was when I had a migraine headache. I have read that typically, it is true, D is the issue but that all Celiacs end up with constant D even if they start out with C, that would be if it was not diagnosed before the D started.
  12. Your story resonates with me, I also had an alcoholic and violent childhood and have spent most of my adult life trying to resolve the misery that was laid on me. I think of it this way now, we all have an inherited life and it may appear that some inherit a wonderful life and some a dreadful life but as long as we are only living out what we have inherited...
  13. Thanks for the list TCA. I forwarded it to my sister with two kids who have gluten issues. I think she will find it very helpful.
  14. Hi Murlene. You have come to a good place to find a friend, I think you will find many. This is a wonderful site, people are kind and welcoming. I've only been here for a few weeks but it has already helped me more than I know how to say. How long ago were you diagnosed? And thanks for the question, I quit putting anything on my face just...
  15. Rachel, I've had it, not so much since I went off dairy but if I overeat it acts up and it doesn't take much in the way of overeating. I find that if I let myself get too hungry I eat too fast and I eat more, not a lot more, not even near to what I could once consume, not that that was a good thing. Also late night eating, not good for my tummy. And...
  16. Getting very sleepy... But I wanted to respond to: In the past year I have noticed a sense of vertigo occasionally but since I stopped the gluten it has improved. You will find this board amazing, there are so many symptoms we share that are just not generally recognized. Not long ago on one thread women were talking about problems...

    ARCHIVED Sulfites

Great thread, thanks for the information. I've been trying to avoid sulfites for years, in my thirties I realized they were a trigger for migraine headaches for me. There went the red wine. I thought I could handle white wine but I had about 4 ounces the other night and ended up with a bad headache, not a migraine but not fun. I won't do that again...
  18. Tee Hee, well maybe if wine comes out again.
  19. Rachel, my acupuncterist says that my digestion is very weak which I wonder if what your doctor means by slow. I've been thinking of it like if your digestion is working 100% then your food will be digested 100% but if it is only at 50% then only...you get where I am going with this. Isn't this malabsorption? It is one of my problems and I am wondering...
  20. I've seen some threads here with great ideas for meals. Do you know how to get around the forum? My diet is pretty limited. I found that after I cut out gluten I continued to be bloated and constipated so I cut out dairy too and that made a big difference but it does make eating more of a challenge. I also seem to be having problems with eggs. ...
  21. Hi, Welcome. I'm all pretty new to this but finding this place has been incredibly helpful. Eating pretty simply has helped me a lot, meat, fish, fruit and veggies, it saves on reading labels. Do you like to cook?
  22. Step away for the day and 10 pages to read, I'm impressed. Rachel, I'm sorry the doctor's visit didn't bring you answers but at least you now know that you are an "interesting case" and she believes you. I think you have a lot of courage, I think everyone here has, in facing illness and dealing with it straightforwardly. No thinking that the Doctors...
  23. I wouldn't want to presume and speak for everyone but for a man with a sense of humor and so many female relatives I might be willing to make an exception, a co-ed slumber party. Actually friends and I started that a number of years ago, we all had farms and lived hours away from each other so when we did get together we spent the night. We still...
  24. I'm wondering how Floridian is too, yoo hoo are you awake yet? Is your head O.K.
  25. I missed most of it too Julie and now I'm off to watch a movie with my sweetie. Sweet dreams.
